National Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Chelsea Dyjak – Senior defender from Abington.
Notable Accomplishment:
In the Ghosts’ 5-0 win over Harry S. Truman, it would be easy to overlook the efforts of Abington’s strongest defender. However, Chelsea Dyjak’s sound defense, and also supporting offense, certainly helped to secure this comfortable victory. On the defensive end, Dyjak ensured that Truman had very few offensive opportunities. However, her coach, Rick Tompkins, had been calling for her to get offensive more often in games, and she surely fulfilled his hopes in this match. Playing the outside back position, Dyjak took advantage of many opportunities to impact the Ghosts’ offense, accounting for two beautiful assists.
Note from the Coach:
“She’s rock-steady in the back, plays stout defense every game, and has even been incorporating an offensive component recently. She’s a great girl with lots of spirit, and she makes everyone around her better,” offers Abington’s coach, Rick Tompkins.
About Chelsea:

Part of the game I enjoy most: Offensive control, especially passing the ball

Continental Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Sydney McNutt – Sophomore Defender/ Midfielder from Hatboro-Horsham.
Notable Accomplishment:
Last week McNutt stood out in the midfield against CB South, but Harboro-Horsham gave up four goals. So her coach, Ben Winderman, moved her back into the defense for the Upper Dublin game, and the switch resulted in a shutout of a dangerous UD squad.McNutt led the Hatters’ defense against a very talented Upper Dublin attack which they were able to completely shut down. Throughout the season she has demonstrated the ability to play aggressive defense and move the ball unselfishly.
Note from the Coach:
“Sydney is fast and reads the game very well; she is a fearless competitor and a graceful athlete. She has been a model of consistency and team play all season. As a sophomore, those are qualities that a coach really admires,” says Winderman.
About Sydney:
Favorite professional soccer player: Christiano Ronaldo
Best soccer memory: Winning the 2010 U.S. Club Soccer Nationals with my club team, FC Delco.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Creating opportunities to win the game
My role model is: My mom
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Eminem
Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate
American Conference KickNWear Player of the Week
Marissa Gorman – Junior midfielder from Cheltenham.
Notable Accomplishment:
As Cheltenham’s best all-around player, Marissa Gorman can play a wide variety of positions but is best suited as a holding midfielder. The qualities that absolutely set her apart from other players are her tenacity in defending and her field vision. In the Panthers’ game versus Wissahickon this past week, Gorman exemplified her exceptional defensive skills despite a tough 1-0 loss to the Trojans. She has also developed into an offensive force with great vision, demonstrating this attribute during Cheltenham’s 3-0 win against Upper Moreland last week when she created many scoring opportunities.
Note from the Coach:
“There is little doubt that Marissa is our team’s most valuable player. While things around her can be going a little wild, she is the calm in the eye of the storm. She gives her absolute maximum every game, every practice and is truly a role model to every other member of our squad,” praises Cheltenham head coach Mark Woodcoack.
About Marissa:
Favorite professional soccer player: Brandi Chastain
Best soccer memory: My favorite soccer memory would definitely have to be playing soccer in Italy with my Hunter team. Another unforgettable memory was our Cheltenham team making playoffs for two years in a row!!
Part of the game I enjoy most: Making beautiful plays and having fun with my teammates
My role models are: My parents, coaches, and teammates!
Musical artist that gets me pumped before games: Hands down- “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor
Chocolate or vanilla: Most definitely chocolate!!!!
