Pennridge senior Jesse Knepp has signed a letter of intent to play football at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va.

Jesse Knepp – Randolph-Macon College (Football)
Major: Communications
Final list of colleges: Randolph-Macon, Clarion, Delaware Valley, Albright, Dickinson, Lebanon Valley, Salisbury
Reasons for choosing Randolph-Macon: “It’s down south, and Randolph-Macon is one of the only south schools I looked at besides Salisbury. Playing football up here my whole life, I wanted a change, something different. Also, meeting some of the football players down there and spending time with them and the coaching staff – I felt it was the best fit for me.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football? “I always my whole life wanted to play college football. When I was little, you have higher goals to play D-1 of 1AA, but you have to be realistic with playing time. I want to play right away, and that’s why I decided on a smaller school.”
What was the recruiting process like? “It was actually pretty difficult. During the football season, everyone is asking you where you’re going to go, and you have no idea.
“I wasn’t even considering Randolph-Macon because it was far away, and it didn’t really seem to fit for me. I had already told Randolph-Macon that I wasn’t interested in them anymore, but my friend was going there on a college visit, and he wanted me to come down. He ended up not being able to go down, and I went down by myself, and I actually fell in love with the school. It was my number one choice from then on.”
Coach Randy Cuthbert says: “Jesse was a three-year starter at tailback and a team leader. He always did everything you asked, and as a running back, he could run around you and run through you. He could catch the ball and block. He’s just a versatile player. The younger kids looked up to him. He was a good role model.”
