On Nov. 17, 2010, North Penn senior Steph Kulp was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play softball at Millersville University
Stephanie Kulp – Millersville University (Softball)
Major: Elementary Education/Special Education
Final list of colleges: Millersville, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing Millersville: “I loved the campus, the coach is awesome, and the girls are really nice. When I went up for a visit, we just automatically bonded together. They also have a great education program there, so I’m really excited.”
When did the idea of playing softball at the collegiate level become a reality? “It’s always been a dream of mine to play softball at the college level. Just playing on our team at North Penn made me know I really do want to play softball at a competitive level for the next four years.
“I think North Penn has helped me become a leader and made me the best player I could possibly be.”
Coach Rick Torresani says: “As a sophomore, we knew Steph was a talented player. Last year she matured into not only an outstanding player, but she grew into a leader. Last year she had six home runs, which we haven’t had since I have been here.
“In Steph’s two years on the varsity level, we’ve made it to the quarterfinals of the districts, and she continually progressed and helped out with her leadership. Last year she really had to step up because of the league we play in and the teams we compete against. Steph was the only girl on the team that batted over .300, and she proved she can compete against the highest level that we faced.”
