Millennium Administrators
Highlighting…SOL Girls’ Basketball Players

This recognition is sponsored by Millennium Administrators. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches.

National Conferece Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Bre Bermel – Senior at Abington High School

The senior forward was a contributor both on and off the court, providing leadership as well as a presence under the basket. Bermel will continue her career at the collegiate level.
Note from the coach:
“Bre is a very special kid,” coach Dan Marsh said. “She is one of the most intelligent, articulate young ladies I’ve ever coached. She challenges everyone – her teammates, her coaches. If Bre believes something is true, she will talk to you about it, and I think that’s an admirable quality.
“I’ve learned so much from her in four years just by her challenging me and saying, ‘Is this the right way to do things?’ or ‘Maybe we should do it that way.’ When our kids graduate, we want them to be that articulate, that confident and to challenge the world like that. Bre is a perfect role model for that. She’s a great student, a good basketball player, and she challenges the world. That’s an admirable attribute, to be sure. I’m going to miss her.
“She’ll play at the next level, and she’ll make that team better just by challenging them both on and off the court.”

About Bre:
Best memory playing basketball:  When we had our annual kickball game, and one of our teammates wiped out!
Part of the game I enjoy most:  I enjoy defense and getting rebounds.
My role model is:  My Grandfather
Music that gets me pumped before games:  I mostly listen to rap to get me ready before a big game!
Favorite foods:  Nachos and Milkshakes!
Favorite TV show:  The Walking Dead
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party:  Will Ferrell, Eminem, Michael Jordan and Frank Sinatra.

American Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Savannah Shackleford – Senior at Springfield (Montco) High School

The senior reserve was a positive force whether on or off the court. When healthy, she was an important contributor as the Spartans’ sixth man.
Note from the coach:
“Savannah was very important to the team,” coach Bill Krewson said. “Savannah fights arthritis in her knees, so running becomes an issue at times. She missed some time with the arthritis in her knees.
“When she was healthy and good, she was our sixth man. She was very good coming off the bench. She would hit a three when we needed it or get a big rebound or a steal or something like that.
“She was very helpful on the court, but the thing I love about Savannah is she loves everyone, and she wants to see everyone succeed. She’s always helping the other girls, encouraging the other girls, whispering in their ear to bring them back. When there were arguments or fights between the girls, you could see Savannah took it to heart and said, ‘You can’t do that.’ She’s a team player.”
About Savannah:
Best memory playing basketball: My best memory playing basketball was when we won the Winter Jenkintown Tournament and took a team picture holding the trophy.
Part of the game I enjoy most: I really enjoy the team aspect of being on the basketball team. I love spending hours and hours with a group of girls that are only there to push each other to their limits. I also just love the fast-paced game of basketball and hope to continue to play for the rest of my life.
My role models are: My parents and grandmother. My parents support me through everything I go through and encourage my original thoughts. My grandmother acts as an anchor for me where I can forget about everything and just focus on the fun of life.
Music that gets me pumped before games: Believe it or not, I listen to Broadway Hits from my favorite musicals and also Queen. However, the best thing for me to do before a game is read. These two things get me calm and help me to forget about everything else except basketball.
Favorite food: Chicken Quesadillas
Favorite TV show:Friends, Chuck, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon
Six people I’d invite to a dinner party:  Alfred Hitchcock, Jennifer Lawrence, Jesus Christ, Steve Jobs, Gandhi, George Washington
