North Penn baseball found a unique way to recognize the team’s 13 seniors during the school’s commencement exercises, which stretched over the entire week last week. Each senior was represented with a close to life-size poster on the school’s baseball field – the field was on the route out of the Crawford Stadium for all the graduates. The posters were securely anchored to the field and were removed only during the storms that erupted last week.
Although the Knights never played an actual game this season, they had an inter-squad four-inning scrimmage during their abbreviated Florida trip just prior to the cancellation of the season. Connie Lee, an aunt of team members Dylan and Nate Brown, captured all the action in photos that were used for the posters.
Seniors on this year’s team were Cole Egner, Charlie Marger, Kolby Barrow, Chris McLean, Erik Jesberger, Joey Christian, Nicky Koch, Alex Kee, Spencer Heilveil, Colby Chan, Ryan Feiser, Nathan Brow and Prasham Jobanputra.
Coach Kevin Manero said: “This is a very mature and hungry group of seniors. To have a group that loved that game of baseball as much as many of these guys did is special. They have a lot of talent for sure, but this is the kind of group that I hope our underclassmen learn a lot from. They have modeled work ethic. leadership, desire, and that team-first mentality that every good squad absolutely has to have.
“Off the field, this group includes young men who have done everything from scoring 1500 on the SAT to one who published 200 articles in our school newspaper. Some have overcome great personal challenges and some are really just coming into their own. Every underclassman in our program should be taking so much from who they are and what they were all about coming into this season.”
