Upper Moreland vs North Penn
Upper Moreland visited North Penn to start the second half of the season with North Penn Maidens and Knights coming out victorious winning 4 games to 0. On the girls side there were two close games in the second and third games with great tenth frame bowling by Gabby Verrillo striking out to win by 51 pins in the second game and in the third game it came down both anchor bowlers and the maidens needing a eight pin spare and good count by Lauren Marrone which sealed the deal winning by 10 pins. Gabby Verrillo led the Maidens with a 508 series and Upper Moreland had two bowlers with a 462 series,(Amanda Tardif and Kayla Balcerak).
The boys match had some important factors because on opening day Upper Moreland handed the Knights their first two losses of the season and since NP had only lost one other.Even though the Knights took matters in hand winning all four their was an exciting moment in the third game. Anchor Tyler Sharpe started the night out with a 246 game and then had an off game in the second rolling a 173.As coach (coach Saddle)took him aside and told him" everyone has a bad game but that game is over, relax ,regroup and the third game is yours". As fate would have it Tyler strung the first 8 strikes and he told me "talk to me coach", he needed something to get him through the next shot which he struck again and into the 10 th frame. In the tenth a stubborn 10 pin keep him from perfection(300 game) but made the spare and struck for a 279 game and a 698 series.
North Penn travels to Hatboro Horsham on Wednesday January 14.
