Garnet Valley, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) champion in 2011, is the unanimous choice as the No. 1 team in both the All Schools and PIAA divisions of the preseason PA Media Girls’ Lacrosse Rankings released today.

The Jaguars, who finished 24-3 last year, received all 10 first-place votes in both polls and piled up 100 points.

Each week a panel of nine journalists from around the state and the Mid-Atlantic region ranked Pennsylvania’s top teams. The panel includes Chris Goldberg of Phillylacrosse.com, Dennis C. Way of the Norristown Times Herald, Scott Johnston of the Lehigh Valley Press, Matthew Blymier of the Lancaster Intelligencer, Karen Sangillo of the Bucks County Courier Times, Harry Chaykun, formerly of the Delco Times, Brad Spahr of the Daily Local News, dave assad of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette, the Doylestown Intelligencer and the Philadelphia Inquirer. The poll is compiled by Goldberg.
