A submitted Story
This is a story about the PA State Middle School Water Polo Champs held this past weekend at North Penn High School.
This past weekend the Wissahickon Trojan middle school boys A Team defeated Cumberland Valley 13-7 and North Penn 15-5 to advance to the championship game against the Wilson Kingfish who defeated Pennridge and then North Allegheny by a score of 16-15 to advance. The Wissahickon Boys led by a goal at half and stretched their lead to 3, but Wilson came back to tie the match 8-8. The Trojans scored the next two goals for a 10-8 lead. Wilson scored once more for a final 10-9 victory for the Trojans. Goals in the champioship game were scored by Greg Brocato, Jake Behring, Jeff Beyer and Peter Butler.
The Wissahickon Boys B team placed 3rd in the B bracket. After losing to North Allegheny, the Boys were matched up against Wilson B for the 3rd place game. They set the stage for the A Team by also defeating Wilson, pulling off a 12-11 victory.
The Wissahickon girls played this season with Pennridge and split their games this weekend with excellent play by Julia Salvadore and Lili Xu (Emily Moyer and Jean Gleason were not able to play this weekend.)
