On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, Pennridge senior Mackenzie Herbst was recognized for committing to continue her lacrosse career at St. Bonaventure University.

Reasons for choosing St. Bonaventure: “I chose St. Bonaventure because of the academics, athletics, the team and the small school setting.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started playing lacrosse in fifth grade, and after playing a few years, I fell in love with the sport and knew that I wanted to pursue it in college. Playing for Ultimate Lacrosse allowed me to accomplish that dream of mine. I am thankful for all that my family, friends, coaches and teammates have done for me, including pushing me towards my goal.”
Pennridge lacrosse coach Karen Schnurr says: “Mackenzie plays midfield, and she is a fierce player. She is all over the field. When she wants the ball, she gets the ball. She is extremely aggressive on attack. She goes straight to the net every time she has the ball. Just watching her grow from a freshman to a senior has been an amazing experience, and she’s developed into a strong midfield player. On defense, she really works well with the other defenders. She talks to the defense. She’s definitely going to be missed, but we’re excited for her senior season, and I wish her the best of luck.”
Pennrige field hockey coach Becky Spahr says: “Kenzie Herbst is going to play lacrosse at St. Bonaventure, but she also played field hockey for us. I am just so proud of her maturity and her ability to switch between two different sports. She is going to be an amazing athlete no matter where she is playing, and I’m excited for her.”
