The Pennsbury Swim and Dive team competed at the PIAA District One Championships this past week. The boys and the girls’ teams showed heart and determination throughout the meet. The girls team was led by senior Brooke Garretson who will be returning to the Pennsylvania State Championship meet in the 200 IM again this year. Garretson swam a lifetime best, eclipsing the Pennsbury school record by over two seconds (2:04.95) and earning 3^rd place. Garretson will be joined by her relay team members (junior Avery Stimmel and sophomores Maggie Sweitzer and Valerie Lawton) at the state meet as the girls swam their way to a new school record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:35.45) placing 13^th overall. Garretson, Stimmel, Sweitzer and Lawton will also compete in the 200 freestyle relay at States.

The boy’s team was led by freshman Luke Parada who earned 6^th place at the District diving meet and a spot to compete at the Pennsylvania State Championship meet. Senior Will Deitch made the medal podium swimming to an 8^th place finish in the 50 freestyle. Senior Damian Szlaga had a lifetime best in the 100 breaststroke, along with junior Ryan Ward in the 200 freestyle. Congratulations to all of our Pennsbury competitors!
