The Suburban One 2010-2011 Bowling season has its twist and turns already after the December 2010 campaign concluded. Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials, the 2009-2010 SO American Boys Bowling league co-champions, has stumbled in December 2010, concluding the first of three months with 6 losses in its last eight games after starting the 2010-2011 season 9-3 in its first three contests; in PW's next three contests, the Colonials bowled 2 wins and 10 losses to finish December 2010 with a total Boys Bowling record of 11-13. The surprising factor: the PW boys bowling squad suffered only 14 game losses during the entire 2009-2010 season. Chris Hammes, PW's only 300 game score recorded in PW history (2/2008) averaged 206, and Josh Taylor averaged 199 in 2009-2010 with PW- those two, along with Nick Tomaine, arecontinuing with post-secondary studies. Without those three. PW currently builds around seniors Pat Galleo and anchor Kyle HAtfield. Hatfield, who plans to become a pastry chef, scored 267 in a 3-1 loss to Northern Pennsylvania on 12/22/2010, bowled eight straight strikes to start that 267 game.
Plymouth Whitemarsh Girls, on the other hand, hasa substancial skid heading into the 2010-2011 Winter Break. Through 6 matches in 2010-2011, the Lady Colonials have dropped their last 8 league games (12 games overall), in which PW has failed to have a 200 single-game bowler (PW has yet to see a Grils' 200 game in the 2010-2011 season). Lauren Enslin is the only PW Lady Colonial to have played every varsity game so far this season, considering that her four regular varsity teammates were demoted to Junior Varsity and Alternated in a game 3 loss (0-4 loss) at Abington on 12/20/2010. Including the Lady Colonials' 12 game (3 match) losing streak, PW Girls' Varsity Bowling spots a record of 6 wins and 17 losses, which is uncharacteristic to their Suburban One American third place finish in 2009-2010.
