"Defending Sub One American champs PW Boys Bowling Colonials
Surge in 2010-2011 Opener"
Thursday December 9, 2010, Facenda Whitaker Lanes,
Norristown, PA.
Norristown, PA- The Plymouth Whitemarsh Boys Bowling Colonials were
co- Suburban One American champions with Norristown in 2009-2010. That
PW league championship team consisted of 205-averager Chris Hammes, 199
averager Josh Taylor, and also Nick Tomaine. Those three graduated from
Plymouth Whitemarsh in June 2010, causing some to think PW doesn't have
what it takes to repeat.
The Colonials will face North Penn and Kyle Transue, and Norristown
and Matt Grayauskie during the 2010-2011 season. However, on this
Thursday 9 December 2010, the Colonials(4-0) hosted a non-league force
of Council Rock South(0-4) at Facenda Whitaker Lanes. Despite a power
outage in the bowling alley during game 2, the Colonials swept the
Hawks, 4-0, and 2586-2358. Alex Lesse was consistent for the Colonials
with scores of 190, 169, and 166 for a 525 series, which is also what
first full-time PW varsity bowler Andrew Rexroth, a junior, scored in
his series. Kyle Hatfield had a 247 game on Junior Varsity for PW after
165 and 159 varsity scores. Kevin Patterson of the Hawks had a 616
series, which included 180, 225, and 211; Patterson finished both games
2 and 3 with six consecutive strikes. Council Rock South's Dean
Applegate bowled a varsity team history-low of 65 in the 3rd game after
a 141 game 2 and a Junior Varsity game 1 of 196.
Pat Galleo was removed from the PW varsity team before game 3
to PW JV and was replaced by his brother, Joey Galleo, who made his PW
varsity debut with a 167 game 3. Hatfield was replaced by PW junior
Julius Selfinger, who recorded 176 in the third game.
The power outage, which which occured at Facenda Whitaker at
4:18PM, caused one minute of pitch black and shut off lanes and scoring
monitors. Plymouth Whitemarsh Bowling team statistician, Scott S.D.
Weiss, fortunately recorded opens, spares, splits, and strikes for the
Colonials up to that point, but the scoring monitors luckily recovered
the scores as the lanes re-operated twelve minutes later at 4:30 PM.
