PW Community Loses a Legend with Passing of Basketball Coach Hank Stofko

Legendary Plymouth Whitemarsh head basketball coach Henry ‘Hank’ Stofko passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning (Sept. 27, 2020). He was 93 years old. Stofko was he head coach at PW for 32 years where he amassed a 583-231 record. His teams won eight Suburban One League titles and four District 1 crowns, reaching the state championship game on two occasions including winning the PIAA Class 4A State Championship in 1963.

 

Stofko had a total of 654 career wins as a high school coach. That total includes short stints at Warwick, which is now part of Owen J. Roberts School District, and Boyertown High. He was inducted into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame in its first class in 2002 that also included Tommy Lasorda and Beth Anders.
