Emily Reis – Washington & Jefferson College (Softball)
Major: Biology (Pre-Med)
Final list of colleges: Washington & Jefferson, Wells College, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing Washington & Jefferson: “I was at a recruiting camp, and they saw me play. They e-mailed me. At first, I wasn’t really too sure, but I visited the campus and I fell in love with it. I had an overnight with the team, and I got along with the girls.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball? “I’ve probably been thinking about playing softball in college since I was in seventh grade. It started to become a reality in eighth grade when I went to camps and started talking to college coaches.”
Coach Rich Scott says: “Emily has the highest batting average on the team. She’s a great hitter, and she has a lot of room to grow. It’s basically up to her how good she wants to be. The potential is there for her to be a great player.”
Batting instructor/pitching coach Dave Souder says: “Emily just has a natural innate ability to have her eye on the ball – her timing, her explosion hitting through the ball is just something she has. It’s just an amazing thing. She has power, and she has timing. If you ever see her swing the bat, you never forget it. Her bat is just explosive. It’s a scary thing to see. She’s just an exceptional power hitter. She’s amazing.”
