On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, Central Bucks South senior Shannon Senour was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play soccer at Temple University.

Major: Broadcast Communications
Final list of colleges: Temple, St. Joseph’s, Bucknell, American, Pittsburgh
Reasons for choosing Temple: “The main reason was my major. I plan to major in broadcast communications, and Temple has an excellent reputation in that field. The contacts Temple can provide will hopefully get me an internship as soon as possible, and I think being in the city will be very beneficial for me with my major because hopefully I can work at one of the big stations in Philadelphia. Also, I wanted to be close to home.”
What was the highlight of your high school soccer career? “My sophomore year when we won districts – that was exciting for us. It was the first time we ever won districts.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer? “I was actually very hesitant about it. I kind of regret not realizing I wanted to play earlier, but I’m really happy with my decision.
“I decided to play the middle of my junior year, and I committed to Temple (last) summer.”
Coach Joe Bocklet says: “Shannon Senour was a four-year varsity athlete with tremendous speed and athletic ability. Shannon shuffled between midfielder and forward roles in her first three years and really came on in her senior year as our central midfielder. Nominated as the team's MVP, Shannon (a varsity co-captain) was irreplaceable on the field, as she was an important cog both defensively and offensively, playing almost every minute of every game. Aside from her effort on the field, Shannon was an excellent student in the classroom and a very supportive and kind friend to her teammates. We are extremely hopeful that the girls returning next season will emulate Shannon both on the field and off, as we hope to continue our success as a program.”
