Three SHSHL teams lost in the opening round of the Flyers Cup ‘A’ Tournament Monday.

#9 LOWER DAUPHIN 6, #8 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 4
The Colonials fought back valiantly from a 3-0 second period deficit, rallying to knot the score. The two teams were still tied 4-4 late in regulation when Cole McCulley (Trey Jefferis assist) scored the go-ahead goal with just over two minutes remaining. An empty net goal by Leach gave LD its final margin of victory, bringing to an end a successful season for the Colonials
Noah Leach put Lower Dauphin on the scoreboard 3:15 into the second period. Back-to-back goals by Cole McCulley spotted LD a 3-0 lead 4:38 into the period. The Colonials battled back. Jake Weikel scored a power play goal with an Aidan Keogh assist, and then Dean Keller connected on an unassisted goal. Midway through the second period, Thomas Corcoran (Aidan Keogh/Jake Weikel assists) scored the equalizer. Leach (Trey Jefferis assist) scored in the final minutes of the period to give LD a 4-3 lead.
Logan Westerfer (Jake Weikel/Jack Mishkin assists) answered with the equalizer 3:34 into the third period. That 4-4 tie stood until McCulley scored the game-winner 13:41 into the period.
Goalie Eric West turned away 31 shots in a winning effort for LD. PW goalie Ben Yuter also turned away 31 shots.

The Hatters saw their season come to an end at the hands of seventh-seeded Springfield in Monday’s opening round game at IceWorks.
Springfield’s Devin DeStefano (Ryan O’Connor/Adin Zappo assists) scored 1:56 into the opening period. The goal turned out to be the game-winner. By the time the first period was over, Springfield led 4-0 and then added five more goals in the second period. A goal by Dominick Romolini (Ryan Kertis assist) 48 seconds into the third period brought an early end to the contest.
Eleven players contributed to the scoring in the abbreviated contest.
Hatters’ goalie Joey Gambino recorded 34 saves. Springfield’s Tyler Philiposian turned away all nine shots he faced.

The Trojans took an early lead on a goal by Bryan Garry (Nick Hussa assist), and they were tied with Unionville after one period. The game swung firmly in Unionville’s favor in the second period.
Dylan Blackburn (Connor Malloy assist) scored 20 seconds into the period, igniting a 7-0 Unionville tear that culminated with a goal by Stevie Cicchiono that gave Unionville a commanding 8-1 lead. Garry scored his second goal of the night, also with a Hussa assist, to close out the period.
Unionville put the finishing touches on the win with three unanswered goals in the third period.
Keigan Craig turned away 19 of 21 shots he faced in a winning effort in goal for Unionville.
