Friday, Dec. 10

UPPER DUBLIN 7, WILLIAM TENNENT 4

The Flying Cardinals found themselves on the short end of a 3-2 score after one period but outscored the Panthers 5-1 over the next two to earn the big win.

Gus Plat put the Cardinals on the board two minutes into the game, using a Dylan Rotkin assist. Tennent answered with back-to-back goals from Quinn Morena (Alex Tsikoudis and Trey Dyer assists) and Frank Rosenberry (Travis Ribikauskas assist) to go on top 2-1 10 minutes into the game. Andrew Green scored an unassisted goal to even the score, but Andrew Matz turned a Gavin Loughlin pass into a goal that put the Panthers on top 3-2.

Max Frearson’s unassisted goal 51 seconds into the second period knotted the score, and after Jonah Fisher and Kevin McGinly (Jack Bocul assist) each added a goal, the Cardinals went into the final period with a 5-3 advantage.

A goal by Bocul three minutes into the third period gave UD a 6-3 lead, but a late goal by Gavin Loughlin made it a 6-4 game. Bocul got that goal back with an assist from Frearson for the 7-4 final.

Emmett Kepniss negated Tennent’s 44-40 edge in shots with 40 saves in goal for the Cardinals.

ABINGTON 6, QUAKERTOWN 2

The Ghosts trailed 1-0 after one period but then erupted for six goals in the second period. That turned out to be more than enough to notch the win.

Jack Diliberto’s short-handed goal with a Cole Slemmer assist four minutes into the first period spotted the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Just 1:53 into the second period Sean Faye scored the equalizer on a power play, using assists from Pat Stelacio and Tom Rourke. Matthew Kramer’s unassisted goal 21 seconds later gave the Ghosts a lead they would not lose. Back-to-back goals by Joe Stelacio – the first on a power play with a Griffin Carpenter assist and the second short-handed with assists from Sam Paulik and Carpenter. Goals by Pat Stelacio (Ian Heydt and Carpenter assists) and Paulik (Kramer assist) in the closing minutes of the period made it a 6-1 game.

William Shaw tacked on a goal late in the third period for the Panthers to close out the scoring.

Abington’s Sam Nemec stopped 16 of 18 shots in a winning effort in goal. Quakertown’s Matthew Crem was credited with 28 saves.

Thursday Dec. 9

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, NESHAMINY 2

Jason Magaruh turned in a brilliant 50-save effort in goal, and Aidan Gaffney scored a late goal with an Adam Cusick assist, breaking a 2-2 tie and propelling the Titans to their first win of the young season.

Daniel Kvecher (Matt Crouch assist) put the Titans on the scoreboard early only to watch Jacob Adama (JJ Hathaway assist) even the score late in the first period. A Gaffney goal with assists from Justin Keilman and Aydin Thierolf 1:34 into the second period put the Titans on top 2-1.

That lead stood until 2:26 into the final period when Hathaway found the net on a power play, using a Max Gallagher assist. That set the stage for Gaffney’s game-winner later in the period.

Neshaminy held a 52-36 advantage in shots, an advantage that was negated by Magaruh’s stellar outing.

BENSALEM 5, NORTH PENN 1

Alex Hood scored three goals and assisted on two others for a five-point night that led the Owls. Danny Mackley added two goals and an assist.

Hood opened the scoring 35 seconds into the game with an assist from Alex Bazylevich. That 1-0 lead stood for the entire first period.

The Knights evened the score 21 seconds into the second period, scoring with a Nolan O’Toole assist. The rest of the period belonged to the Owls, who received a pair of goals by Mackley around a goal by Hood to close out the period. Hood assisted on both of Mackley’s goals, and Mackley returned the favor on Hood’s goal.

Hood’s unassisted goal late in the third period closed out the scoring.

The win was the third in five games for the Owls.

Ricky Gonzalez stopped 33 of 34 shots in goal for the Owls in the win.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 10, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0

Danny Smith scored three goals, teammate Armani Perry assisted on three goals, and Aidan Keogh had two goals and an assist to lead a balanced PW attack in Thursday’s win at Hatfield Ice.

Dylan Novitski’s short-handed goal 1:20 into the opening period turned out to be the game-winner. Two minutes later, Keogh connected, and the Colonials led 2-0 after one period.

In the second period, Luke Weikel’s short-handed goal (Keogh assist) just over three minutes into the second period marked the beginning of a seven-goal PW barrage. Then it was Smith scoring with assists from George Clark III and Armani Perry. Isaac Mishkin connected on a power play goal, and then it was Smith turning a Matthew Flynn pass into a goal. Timothy Murphy (Perry assist) scored 14 minutes into the period, and a minute later, Smith completed his hat trick, using a Murphy assist. Conlan Carpenter scored with an assist from Perry to close out the period with PW on top 9-0.

A goal by Keogh 3:24 into the final period put the mercy rule into effect, bringing an early end to the game..

PW goalie Christopher Maslij was forced to make just nine saves in the shutout win.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 7, PENNSBURY 2

Rock South goalie Carson Lopez turned away 33 of 35 shots he faced, and Kevin Koles had a hand in five goals, scoring once and assisting on four others, to lead the Golden Hawks to the win.

Julian Wagenmann put the Golden Hawks on the scoreboard 6:38 into the contest, using a Carson Lopez assist. Six minutes later, Wagenmann scored a short-handed goal, and then Wagenmann – along with Koles – assisted on a power play goal by Julian Sarne to put the Golden Hawks on top 3-0. Another power play goal – this one by Gavin Nisenzon with assists from Koles and Sam Cherkassky – sent the Golden Hawks into the second period with a 4-0 lead.

Brendan Macainsh scored with a Reece Millman assist 4:51 into the second period to put the Falcons on the scoreboard. Koles answered for the Golden Hawks, this time with a Nisenzon assist. Connor Coyne’s goal with a Shane Siegmund assist made it a 5-2 game heading into the final period.

Sarne’s second power play goal of the night, this one with an assist from Koles ,was followed by a goal from David Vergules (Koles assist) for the 7-2 final.

SOUDERTON 5, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3

Souderton notched its third straight win and fifth win in seven games to open the season, rallying from a 3-1 deficit with four unanswered goals in the final period.

The two teams exchanged goals in the opening period with Souderton’s Nicholas Smith scoring with a Timothy Alexander assist just over a minute into the game. Nicholas Hahn answered with a goal that evened the score, using a Lucas Simon assist.

Rock North scored a pair of goals in the second period – the first by Drew Borden with assists from Lucas Siomos and Nicholas Hahn and the second a power play goal by Jackson Accardi (Wilton Pasch and Zach Weissman assists).

That 3-1 lead proved to be anything but secure. Alexander (Smith assist) scored just over four minutes into the period, and less than a minute later, Carter Povazan (Seth Grossman and Matthew Malanga assists) connected on the equalizer. Liam O’Neill scored the go-aheaad goal 7:14 into the period, using assists from Smith and Alexander. Three minutes later, Seth Grossman added an insurance goal with an assist from Liam O’Neill.

Noah Connor was credited with 32 saves in goal in the winning effort.

Ryan Pico turned in a dazzling effort in goal for the Rams, turning away 47 of 48 shots he faced, and offensively, it was another Pico stealing the spotlight as Kevin Pico connected for a hat trick.

After a scoreless opening period, Shane Dachowski found the net on a power play goal 28 seconds into the second period, using an Andrew Savona assist. Kevin Pico’s goal with a Tyler Manto assists put the Rams on top 2-0 just over four minutes into the contest. Corey Kosick’s power play goal with an assist from Bogdan Borodenko made it a 2-1 game heading into the final period.

Kevin Pico gave the Rams insurance when he scored with a Jack Lowery assist 5:30 into the third period. Then it was Dachowski connecting on a power play goal, and Pico closed out the scoring with a late goal, using assists from Manto and Dachowski.
