Friday, March 5

SOUDERTON 4, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2

Seth Grossman scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others for a four-point night to lead the Indians to their first win of the season in a hard fought contest.

Carter Povazan’s power play goal with a Grossman assist was the only score in the opening period. Ben Morris scored just over four minutes into the second period to knot the score, using an assist from Grant Funseth. Grossman scored an unassisted power play goal midway through the period to give the Indians a lead they would not lose. Povazan’s second power play goal of the game – this one with assists from Grossman and Benjamin Fadden – put the Indians on top 3-1. Evan Hee’s power play goal pulled the Bucks to within one heading into the final period.

The Indians held that 3-2 lead until just over a minute remained when Grossman scored with an Alexander assist for the 4-2 final. It was the first even-strength goal of the game for either side.

Noah Connor was credited with 20 saves in a winning effort in goal for the Indians. West’s Liam Rogers kept his team in it until the end, turning away 46 shots in a heroic performance in goal.

WISSAHICKON 8, ABINGTON 2

Bryan Garry had himself a night.

The Wissahickon standout had a hand in seven of his team’s eight goals, scoring three and assisting on four. Nicholas Hussa also had a big game, scoring two and assisting on three.

Sam Paulik scored with a Joe Stelacio assist less than a minute into the game, spotting the Ghosts a 1-0 lead. Hussan (Garry/AJ Pounds assists) found the net with the equalizer, and when Garry connected on an unassisted goal 10:45 into the period, the Trojans had a lead they would not lose. A goal by Hussa (Garry/Nolan Ryan assists) gave the Trojans a 3-1 lead after one period.

A power play goal by Garry (Hussa/Daniel Glazer assists) gave Wissahickon a three-goal lead until Colin Bruton scored for the Ghosts, using a Holden Brooker assist. The Trojans answered with three straight goals to close out the period – one each from Pounds (Hussa/Garry assists), Garry (Hussa assist) and Glazer.

A goal by Pounds (Garry assist) was the lone score of the final period.

Wissahickon’s Chris Shea and Michael Bonanni split time between the pipes. Both recorded 11 saves in the win. Ben Panella recorded 55 saves in an impressive outing for the Ghosts.

Thursday, March 4

HATBORO-HORSHAM 7, ABINGTON 6

Seth Lerner scored three goals and assisted on two others for a five-point night that led the Hatters to a hard fought win over the Ghosts. Also coming up big for the Hatters, Vince Tarsi added a hat trick and one assist.

After a scoreless opening period, both teams found their offense. Abington’s Jordan Heydt opened the scoring five minutes into the period, using a Sean Faye assist. The Hatters responded with back-to-back goals within a 70-second span to go on top 2-1. Lerner (Tarsi assist) connected for the equalizer, and Tarek Elsabbagh (Dominic Tarsi/Aidan Esack assists) scored the second. Faye (Joe Stelacio assist) knotted the score only to see Lerner connect on a power play goal with an assist from Esack. Griffin Carpenter’s goal as time expired knotted the score 3-3 heading into the final period. Colin Bruton and Holden Booker had the assists.

The third period was another wild one. Carpenter’s second goal of the game – this one with a Sam Paulik assist – gave the Ghosts a 4-3 lead, but two minutes later, Vince Tarsi (Lerner/Dominic Tarsi assists) found the net to make it a 4-4 game. Stelacio (Sean Doyle/Carpenter assist) scored to put the Ghosts back on top.

This time the Hatters answered with three straight goals in a three-minute span to take a lead they would not lose. Lerner’s power play goal (Ben Lerner assist) knotted the score 7:46 into the period. Then it was Vince Tarsi connecting on back-to-back goals – the first a power play goal (Esack assist) and the second at 10:03 with a Lerner assist to put the Hatters on top 7-5. A Bruton goal (Stelacio assist) with a minute remaining pulled the Ghosts to within one, but that’s as close as they would get.

Mason Rash earned the win in goal, turning away 22 shots. Ben Panella was credited with 30 saves for the Ghosts, who were outshot 37-28 by the Hatters.

NESHAMINY 4, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2

Neshaminy dominated Thursday’s National Conference game statistically, finishing with a 54-20 advantage in shots on goal. The game could have been a rout, but Rock South goalie Carson Lopez turned in a dazzling 50-save effort to keep his team in it.

Thomas Gallagher scored 16 seconds into the opening period, using a Trevor Kuhn assist, and Neshaminy led 2-0 less than five minutes into the game when Robert Seeewagen scored with assists from Gallagher and JJ Hathaway. Douglas Lopez connected on an unassisted goal to make it a 2-1 game after one.

Matt Buchinski (Seewagen/Gallagher assists) found the net three minutes into the second period to put Neshaminy on top 3-1. Lopez – this time with a Julian Sarne assist – scored his second goal of the game to make it a 3-2 game heading into the final period. This despite Neshaminy’s 41-17 advantage in shots in the first two periods.

Seewagen scored the only goal of the third period with a Max Gallagher assist for the 4-2 final.

Neshaminy goalie Brian Nelson was credited with 18 saves in a winning effort.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 9, HARRY S TRUMAN 0

Luke Weikel stole the spotlight with a seven-point night to lead the Colonials, scoring a pair of goals and assisting on five others. Matthew Flynn added a hat trick and also had an assist.

Weikel put the Colonials on the scoreboard just under four minutes into the game, using a Matthew Flynn assist. Late in the opening period, Weikel returned the favor, assisting on a Flynn goal. Thomas Corcoran found the net with an assist from Zach Spera to give PW a 3-0 lead after one period.

In the second period, Aidan Keogh’s power play goal assisted by Weikel was followed by a goal from Jack Mishkin (Weikel assist). A power play goal by Flynn (Weikel/Mishkin assists) sent the Colonials into the final period with a 6-0 lead.

The third period saw PW tack on three more goals. Flynn scored an unassisted goal, and then it was John Cubbin connecting on a power play goal with assists from Weikel and Keogh. Weikel’s goal in the final minute of the game with a Corcoran assist gave PW its final margin of victory.

Kolton Galie stopped all 15 shots he faced to earn the shutout win in goal.

Wednesday, March 3

WILLIAM TENNENT 4, QUAKERTOWN 3

Tennent took a 3-1 lead into the third period and then fought off a late Quakertown rally to earn the win. Zach Devor and Justin Carrelli each scored a pair of goals. Devor, who had a hand in three of the four goals, also had an assist, and it was Devor scoring the game-winner late in the third period.

An unassisted goal by Eric Orzehoski put Quakertown on the board midway through the opening period. Carrelli answered with a goal that knotted the score, using a Devor assist. Carrelli’s second goal late in the period – this one with an Anthony Cattalo assist – gave Tennent a 2-1 lead after one.

Devor’s unassisted power play goal was the only score of the second period. Quakertown’s Cole Slemmer scored a short-handed goal 31 seconds into the third period, using assists from Anthony Pagliei and Orzehoski to make it a 3-2 game, and the two teams were deadlocked when Lucas Cunnane also scored a short-handed goal 5:53 into the period, using a Pagliei assist. That tie held until Devor scored an unassisted goal that turned out to be the game-winner 11:11 into the final period.

Tennent goalie Thomas Lomas turned away 23 of 26 shots he faced to earn the win. Quakertown’s Austin Stout had 19 saves.

The Trojans scored a pair of third period goals to earn the come-from-behind win.

AJ Pounds scored the only goal of the opening period to spot the Trojans an early 1-0 lead, using assists from Griffin Lynch and Nolan Ryan.  A Daniel Glazer goal (Will Hussa assist) two minutes into the second period put the Trojans on top 2-0, but the Colonials answered with back-to-back-to-back goals to close out the period.

Jake Mishkin’s unassisted power play goal was followed by consecutive goals from Luke Weikel – both with assists from Aidan Keogh and Matthew Flynn.

Bryan Garry’s power play goal 2:05 into the final period knotted the score 3-3. Glazer and Nicholas Hussa assisted. It was Glazer finding the net with a power play goal (Pounds assist) 8:46 into the period, giving the Trojans a 4-3 lead that held until the final horn.

Michael Bonanni was credited with 12 saves in a winning effort in goal for the Trojans. Kolton Galie recorded 32 saves for the Colonials.

The Falcons erupted for four third-period goals to take control of a tightly contested game.

Neither team scored in the opening period of what promised to be a low-scoring affair. In the second period, the two teams exchanged goals. Justin Marlin’s power play goal with assists from Shane Siegmund and Brendan Macainsh less than a minute into the period put the Falcons on top 1-0. DJ Lindenmuth found the net with a power play goal (Aydin Thierolf assist) 15 minutes into the period to knot the score.

Reece Millman’s power play goal 22 seconds into the third period ignited a Falcons’ 4-0 scoring burst in a seven-minute span that put the game out of reach. Connor Coyne (Jake McCaw/Brendan Macainsh assists) followed with a goal, and it was a 3-1 game after Macainsh scored on yet another power play, this goal with a McCaw assist. Marlin’s power play goal with an Andrew Falkenstein assist gave the Falcons a 5-1 lead. Lindenmuth broke the Falcons’ run with a goal 9:17 into the period to make it a 5-2 game (Daniel Kvecher assist). That’s as close as the Titans would get.

Marek Jorgenson earned the win in goal for the Falcons, turning away 28 of 30 shots. Mason Moyer was credited with 39 saves in a contest that saw the Falcons hold a 44-30 advantage in shots.

Kevin Koles turned in a four-point night to lead a balanced Golden Hawk attack.

The Bucks took a 1-0 lead 25 seconds into the contest on a goal by Evan Hee. That lead was short-lived as the Golden Hawks answered with the equalizer from James Dilulio (Julian Sarne assist) three minutes later. Bobby Gilbert (Julian Wagenman/ Sarne assists) scored a goal that turned out to be the game-winner 12:56 into the period.

In the second period, the Golden Hawks received goals from Bobby Gilbert (Alec Pepe assist), Philip Mayo (Koles assist), Koles (Brennen Wright assist) and Andrew Darling. They added three more in the fourth with one each from Jeremy Purcell (Dilulio/Koles assists), Dilulio (Troy Hurwitz/Douglas Lopez assists), Shaun Epstein (Koles assist) and Sarne.

Jimmy Sweeney was forced to make just eight saves in a winning effort in goal for Rock South. Kyle Fasolak and Liam Rogers combined for 49 saves for the Bucks

Monday, March 1

NORTH PENN 5, PENNRIDGE 4

Quinn Holt – just back from an injury - marked his return to the lineup by scoring the game-winner, breaking a 4-4 tie and propelling the Knights to their second win in as many games over the Rams.

The Rams struck first 14 seconds into the opening period when Aeryk Lehrhaupt found the net with assists from Jack Lowery and Cooper White. The rest of the period belonged to the Knights, who reeled off three unanswered goals. Ryan Cunningham turned a Jack Bates pass into the equalizer, and then it was Zachery Cline (Tony Tuozzo assist) giving the Knights a 2-1 lead with a power play goal. Nolan O’Toole’s goal with a Tuozzo assist put the Knights on top 3-1 heading into the second period.

A goal by Cunningham (Joseph Silvotti assist) gave the Knights a 4-1 lead that turned out to be anything but comfortable. Richie Shanks made it a 4-2 game, scoring with an Aidan Boyle assist late in the period.

Back-to-back goals by Andrew David within a five-minute span – the first short-handed and the second with an Boyle assist – knotted the score 4-4 midway through the period. Holt (O’Toole assist) delivered the game-winner 11:03 into the period.

Jon Boyles recorded 28 saves in a winning effort in goal for the Knights, who won for the third time in four games. Ryan Pico also had 28 saves.
