North Penn coach Kevin Manero: “Today was a very gusty win. It takes a lot of effort to keep answering CB East’s lineup. There are a ton of tough outs over there, but I give our guys a lot of credit for battling.
“Our lineup is contributing 1-9 right now, and we’ve had some clutch at-bats off the bench. The season is very young, and this league will be an endless battle but getting out of the gates strong with a lot of guys contributing is very important.”
--Props: “(Starter Brighton) Fontaine competed and really I think his performance was better than the line score (4.0 IP, 6H, 4R, 2ER, 0BB, 4K).
“Trey Brennan really came up big for us with four clutch innings of relief. He’s a young guy on the roster who has a lot of ways to contribute, but today we really needed some length out of the pen, and he nailed it.”
Up next: North Penn (7-0, 2-0 SOL) and Central Bucks East (3-2, 0-2) are scheduled to do battle in the third game of the series at North Penn on Friday.

--Props: “Jarred Housten did a great job on the mound attacking the zone, and six strong innings by a starting pitcher is big in a three-game series, especially if we are playing three game in a row (weather pending).
“Macen Probition went out and shut the door, picking up the save.
“At the plate, freshman Carter Tucholski got a nice sac fly and had a triple. Senior Cole Reich saw the ball well and reached base three times.
“Their pitcher Kevin Kelley battled out there today. He pounded the zone and worked out of some key spots keeping it close.”
Up next: Quakertown (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will host Abington (0-1) in the second game of the three-game series on Thursday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 4, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3
The Hatters took a 2-0 lead in their first three-game series of the SOL season, holding off the visiting Colonials to earn the hard-fought win.

Key innings: Bottom of fifth: Holding a tenuous 2-1 lead, the Hatters plated a pair that loomed large. Chris Yeager and Kenny Lutz drew back-to-back walks to open the inning, and both advanced on Cole Incudine’s sacrifice bunt. An error on a grounder by Jamie O’Neill allowed Yeager to score, and Lutz scored on a fielder’s choice by Klenk. (4-1)
Top of seventh: Trailing 4-1, Gabe Caucci drew a leadoff walk, and Mason Eagland doubled to right field. A Hatter miscue on Ryan Heincer’s hard grounder allowed Caucci to score, and Eagland tagged up and scored on a sac fly by Sam Stolzer.  Heincer never got beyond first as Reinheimer collected three straight outs on fly balls to close out the game. (4-3)
Hatboro-Horsham coach Bill DeBoar on the game: “Conner Cataldi had a slow start but when he got in rhythm, he pitched very well. His pitch count caught up with him, but after a 12-pitch fourth  bought him the fifth inning in which he threw 10 pitches.
“Isaiah Brown had a nine-pitch at-bat that ended with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, plating our second run, then we had a pair of RBI groundouts to go up 4-1 by O'Neill and Klenk.
“The rest was up to right-handed pitcher Cole Reinheimer (Reiny) to shut the door. He struggled a little bit with his command, and credit to PW, they didn't quit in either game, but he was able to get the final six outs and save for Cataldi's first varsity win of the season.
“Tomorrow H-H will send junior right-handed pitcher Shane Mills to the bump for a chance at another win.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham (3-3, 2-0 SOL) and Plymouth Whitemarsh (2-5, 2-3) will meet for the third game of the series on Thursday at Hatboro-Horsham.

UPPER MORELAND 14, WILLIAM TENNENT 5
The Golden Bears continued their impressive run production and made it a clean sweep of the Panthers in their three-game series.
By the numbers: Upper Moreland: Chase Moore (2-for-4, 3RBI, 3R, Jackson Townsend (1-foro-4, 3RBI, 2R), Lucas Zipper (1-for-1, 3B, 1 RBI, 1R), Patrick Kilgus (1-for-2, HR, 1RBI, 2R), Chase Rampulla ((1-for-2, 1RBI, 1R)
Cannon Campbell (2.2 IP 5H, 3R 0ER, 0BB, 4K), Zach O’Connor (W) (3.1 IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 5K), Ethan Molt (1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0ER, 2BB, 1K)
William Tennent:  Luke Torok (2-for-4, 1RBI, 1R), Mike Woehr (2-for 4, 1R), Colin McVey (2-for-3, 2B, 3RBI), Henry Perotti (2-for-3, 2 2B, 2R)
Key inning: Bottom of fifth: Holding a 4-3 lead, the Golden Bears exploded for nine runs in the fifth. Patrick Kilgus opened the inning with a solo home run to left field, and later in the inning, Townsend smashed a three-run home run. The inning also included a two-run single by Moore as well as three WT errors, four walks and a hit batter.
Upper Moreland coach Jim Fasano: “A good start to our league season. We pieced this game together pitching-wise, but Zach O’Connor got his first varsity win, and Cannon Campbell his first varsity start. Both are going to play significant roles for us this year.
“With the new league schedule, depth of pitching is going to be tested, and our guys threw strikes and made Tennent swing the bats. Which to their credit, they did well today.
“It was good for the team to face some adversity - we were down 3-1 going into the bottom of the third, and it was a tie game in the bottom of the fourth.
“Great contributions throughout the lineup again today, we have a huge series next week against a very good Cheltenham team that should be a lot of fun.
“We have plenty of work to do, lots to clean up in all facets of the game, but 3-0 is a good place to be after the first week.”
--Props: “We had some big at-bats throughout the lineup, but Chase Moore’s two-out, two-RBI single put us up three in the fifth.
“Chase Moore’s hit was preceded by a great at-bat by his double play partner, Chase Rampulla, who walked in a run after fouling off a tough pitch on a 3-2 count.
“Pat Kilgus and Jackson Townsend both hit home runs today, Pat’s was his second in as many days and Jackson’s was his first of the year. When our top of the lineup is performing to its capabilities, we are a dangerous team.”
Up next: Upper Moreland (4-3, 3-0 SOL) will host Cheltenham Monday in game one of a three-game series, and William Tennent (1-6, 0-3) will travel to New Hope-Solebury Monday for the first game of a three-game series.
