Council Rock North (5-4, 4-2) knocked host Bensalem (7-1, 5-1) out of the unbeaten ranks as the Indians captured a key 5-4 Suburban One League National Conference victory over the Owls.
“Bensalem is a very good team, and (Bensalem head coach) Rick Lee has worked very hard to get them to the point where they are now,” said Council Rock North head coach Matt Schram. “People like to say that it is a (CR) South- (CR) North conference, but we have teams this year that can scare you – and Bensalem is one of those teams.”
Bensalem led 3-2 after the second inning, scoring three unearned runs off of Rock North senior ace Jake Drossner. Enter sophomore Matt Renck – aka – ‘Matty Ice.’
“Matt really lived up to that nickname,” said Schram as Renck threw five innings and was charged with just one run. “He may only be a sophomore, but he pitches like a senior.”
Chris Ender with two hits and a pair of RBI sparked the Indian offense. Max German had two hits and scored three runs, while Will Terry had two hits – both doubles.
