CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, BENSALEM 1
It was another day another win for the Titans, who notched their fourth win in as many days in what has been a grueling week.
“To get out of there today with a win – four games in a week is tough,” South coach Kevin Bray said. “We were preaching to our guys – just take one game at a time, keep grinding. Our mentality this week was 1-0 each day. That’s really how we approached it, and our guys did a wonderful job of staying on top of it, staying focused and just having that desire to continue to win.”
The Titans rode the standout pitching performances of Jack Carver and Joe Rooney to eke out the win.
“It was a tough-fought win,” Bray said. “Both teams played well, both pitching staffs pretty much controlled the game.
“We were able to scratch a couple of runs across, and that obviously ended up being the difference, but in a game like this, all the little things matter. We executed when we needed to execute, and we were able to come out on top.”
The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the second when Hunter Petrich, who reached base on an error, scored on a single by Logan Hinds. The Owls knotted the score in the top of the third. Mike Kramer reached base on an error and then proceeded to steal second and third, eventually scoring on a groundout by Sean Swentkowski.
In the bottom of the fourth, Eric Damico drew a leadoff walk, and Tyler Robinson legged out a bunt single. Damico scored on an error, giving East the 2-1 advantage that held the rest of the way.
Hinds led the Titans’ offense, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
“He reached base on two errors, so he was on base four times today, so he definitely led the way offensively,” Bray said. “Our pitching staff – Jack Carver started for us today and allowed two hits and one run with five strikeouts. He did exactly what we needed him to do, and Joe Rooney came in for an inning-and-a-third, allowed one hit and struck out one and just closed the door for us.”
The win was the fifth in a row for the streaking Titans after four straight losses to open the season.
“It was a tough start, but we as a group, as a team, knew we would bring it around,” Bray said. “We have a lot of talent – we know that, our guys know that. It was just a matter of time to just have the ball bounce the right way, pick up a couple of key hits.
“Our pitching has been pretty consistent, and that’s always going to carry us.”
For the Owls, Jacob Brodecki absorbed the loss despite allowing just five hits and two runs (both unearned) while striking out seven and walking three in six strong innings.
Central Bucks South (5-4, 4-3 SOL) will host Souderton on Monday, and Bensalem (4-6, 3-5) will host North Penn on Tuesday.

Non-league
ABINGTON 11, DOCK MENNONITE 1 (5 innings)
The Ghosts erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning, bringing an early end to Saturday’s non-league game and giving Abington its second win in less than 24 hours.
“It was a total team effort on offense,” Abington coach Bill Degen said. “We received excellent pitching by Nate Shaw, Johnny Dzielawa and Calvin Judge. Our pitchers didn’t give up an earned run.”
The two teams exchanged runs in the first inning. The Ghosts manufactured a run when Dzielawa singled, moved up to second on a balk, stole third and scored on a groundout by Luke Sydlowski.
In the second inning, Abington scored three runs without a hit, benefitting from three walks and two hit batters. In the seventh, the Ghosts were on the receiving end of six walks and also received timely singles from Brendan Cabry (RBI), Chase Goodsen (2 RBIs) and Dzielawa.
Dzielawa was 2-for-3 with a run scored, the lone player for either side with more than one hit.
Abington (5-4, 3-4 SOL) will travel to Lower Moreland on Tuesday.

SOUDERTON 9, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 1
The Indians followed Friday’s extra inning thriller with a convincing win over Lansdale Catholic in a non-league game that provided an opportunity for coach Mike Childs to spread the playing time around. He did just that with 20 players getting an at-bat and three others seeing action on the mound.
“What I love about our sport is we provide opportunities for kids that do not get a lot of time to show what they can do in non-league games,” Childs said. “Today we started a lot of those players on our team, and they did a great job to get the win. Our pitching staff, led by Liam O’Leary who got the win, did a great job keeping their hitters off balance, while recording 10Ks. Jack Wright was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.”
After LC plated a run in the top of the first, the Indians scored two in the bottom of the inning without collecting a hit and added another run in the third to go on top 3-1.
A two-run fourth was highlighted by Andrew Trumbore’s leadoff single, an RBI double to left by Joey Crecca and a sacrifice fly by Garrett Moyer that put the Indians on top 5-1.
In the sixth inning, Souderton added four runs. Two runs scored on a single by Andrew Schatz, Shanley Wall had an RBI single, and Justin Dicesare doubled and drove in a run.
Craig Pierce also contributed an RBI in the contest.
O’Leary, who notched the win, allowed two hits and one run (unearned) while striking out four and walking one in four innings on the mound. Kaden Pasternak allowed one hit in two scoreless innings. He fanned three. Jeremy Fallon closed it out with a shutout inning. He did not allow a hit and struck out all three batters he faced in the seventh.
Souderton (7-3, 5-2 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Monday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 6, PENN CHARTER 2
The Patriots received a strong pitching performance from sophomore Sam Bliss and erased a 1-0 deficit with a six-run sixth on their way to the non-league win.
“We had a great approach at the plate today,” East coach Kyle Dennis said. “We competed with two strikes, recording three of our seven hits with two strikes. Our plate discipline was strong, recording seven walks and only four strikeouts.
“Sam Bliss scattered three hits, striking out five and allowing only one run in his five innings of work in his first varsity start, recording his second win on the season.”
Penn Charter took a 1-0 lead in the second, and the Patriots erased that deficit in the sixth.
“The sixth inning started with a single by junior DH Xavier Sjostedt,” Dennis said. “Four consecutive walks and a HBP brought score to 3-1.
“Sophomore shortstop Reece Moody made it 4-1 with a hard hit ground ball fielder’s choice with bases loaded. After another walk, junior Joey Wilga delivered a two-RBI single to left field to make the score 6-1.”
Freshman Chase Fulford recorded the lone extra base hit with a double in the 5th.
Jackson Wojnicki closed out the game, allowing one hit and one run in two innings. He struck out one and walked two.
“We have a big week coming up with four games - Monday (CR North) Tuesday (Truman), Thursday (Pennsbury) and Saturday (Penridge),” Dennis said.
Central Bucks East (5-3, 2-3 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Monday.

MaST CHARTER 6, LOWER MORELAND 2
Hits were in short supply on both sides, and although the Lions held a slight 3-2 edge in that department, it didn’t translate to runs on the scoreboard.
The Lions collected two of their three hits in the first inning and took a 1-0 lead. Matt Dymowski had a one-out single, and with two outs, Aidan Ricciardi drew a walk, setting the stage for an RBI single by Donato Incollingo.
MaST Charter evened the score in the bottom of the second and plated a pair of runs in the fourth to go on top 4-1. In the top of the sixth, Incollingo led off the inning with a solo home run to center field, pulling the Lions to within two, but that’s as close as they would get.
Lower Moreland (2-6, 1-5 SOL) will host William Tennent on Monday.
