Check out the recaps for SOL baseball teams in action Monday.
SOL Liberty Division
Upper Dublin 2, Hatboro-Horsham 0
It was a special afternoon for Upper Dublin’s Austin Dahl.
The senior pitched a complete-game, no-hitter, blanking Hatboro-Horsham 2-0 in a stellar effort on Monday afternoon.
Dahl threw 103 pitches, walked three, and struck out 11. He also drove home a run in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly.
Defensively, neither team committed an error.
"Austin had a great game overall,” said UD coach Ed Wall. “Obviously, when you're throwing a no-hitter, it's a special moment. He's come really close over the last couple of years, and being able to see him actually push through was pretty cool.
"Today he was able to get a lot of chase and swing and miss on fastballs, so that helped out a lot. They popped up - a lot of balls in the air.
“Eddie Stoffel, our second baseman, had a day defensively. He definitely contributed to a lot of outs, a lot of putouts."
By the Numbers: UD: Austin Dahl (WP, 7 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 11 K/ RBI), Oliver Gill (2-for-3, 1 run), Evan Sanders (2-for-2), Eric Berman (triple, 1 run).
H-H: Jamie O’Neill (6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st: Eric Berman led off with a triple for UD, and two batters later, Austin Dahl scored him with a sacrifice fly to right field.
UD coach Ed Wall: "Our last no-hitter was a combined one last year with Billy Hart and Jack Brannigan, and ironically, Jack was the guy who we had ready to go in relief if Austin would have rUn out of pitches.
“(With one out in the seventh), we needed a popup or groundout on the first pitch, and the guy swung at the first pitch (a popout), and that gave him enough to get to the third batter, one more batter with two outs. It worked out."
--Props: "Eric Berman led off the game with a triple and scored the only run we had until the sixth when we scored on a passed ball, so that triple was huge, and Austin drove in the run on a sac fly, so he did have a day.
"Oliver Gill and Evan Sanders both hit the ball really well. Evan Sanders had two really nice line drives. It was really great to see him get going today. It was probably the best offensive day he's had."
--Props to O'Neill: "Jamie O'Neill pitched really well on the other side. It was a really low-scoring game, and that was a pitchers’ duel. Those two know each other, and I know there's some friendly competition going on.
“We'll wipe it clean and get back after it tomorrow."
Up next: Upper Dublin (9-5, 7-3 SOL) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham (5-9, 4-6) Tuesday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 7, Abington 5
Plymouth Whitemarsh rode the arm of starter Bobby Pasquarello for six innings, built a big lead, and then held on down the stretch to take Game 1 of its series with Abington by a 7-5 final score on Monday.
Pasquarello didn’t allow an earned run through six, giving up two hits and two walks, while striking out sixth.
After Abignton rallied to within 7-5 in the seventh, thanks to a grand slam by Gavin Grasso, reliever Nate Quirus recorded the final two outs to close out the game.
“We had what was probably our most complete offensive day of the season today,” said PW coach Chris Manero said. “We were able to spread 11 hits all around the lineup and we minimized our strikeouts.
“Bobby Pasquarello was outstanding on the mound today. He is getting incrementally better every outing and has really put together a nice season.”
By the Numbers: PW: Brody Stump (2-for-4), Lucas Fresta (2-for-5, 2 RBIs), Mason Eagland (double, 2 RBIs), Dominic Criscuolo (2 RBIs), Bobby Pasquarello (6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K).
Abington: Gavin Grasso (HR, 4 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 4th: With the bases loaded and two out, Fresta delivered a two-run single to break a scoreless tie. Gabe Caucci followed with a RBI single and then Mason Eagland roped a two-run double to make it a 5-0 game.
PW coach Chris Manero: “It needs to be mentioned that Bobby (Pasquarello) and Lucas Fresta are two freshmen that are starting in very tough positions this year - Bobby on the mound and Lucas behind the plate.
“Neither of those spots is easy for anyone in this sport, let alone two guys who were playing middle school baseball a year ago. Lucas had two hits today and Bobby dealt six shutout innings in a crucial late season conference game.
“We haven't started a freshman behind the plate here in eight years, and Bobby is hands down the best freshman varsity pitcher I've seen at PW in 20 years. I can't understate how proud I am of what those two guys have stepped into this year, and how much their teammates have supported them.”
–More props: “The end of this one was definitely what we drew up, but a ton of credit to Dom Criscuolo for his 2-RBI hit off the bench in the top of the seventh that proved to be so crucial, and to Nate Quirus and stopping the bleeding and getting two quick outs to close the door.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh (7-7, 5-5 SOL) will be on the road at Abington (2-8,) on Tuesday.

Wissahickon 8, Quakertown 5
After watching a five-run lead slip away, Wissahickon responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to take Game 1 against Quakertown 8-5, in the first of three between the two teams this week.
Adam Hajdak and Guilio Carbo had RBI singles in the sixth for the Trojans.
“Today was a good day for our offense and our offensive approach,” said Trojans coach Andy Noga. “(Quakertown’s Macen) Probithon is a really good arm and is one of the few guys we’ll see this year that feels comfortable living on the inner half and throwing front door breaking balls. We really did a great job staying in and standing our ground, getting hit by six pitches today was huge for us to get on and make things happen.”
By the Numbers: Wissahickon: Adam Hajdak (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Jonnie Klinger (2 RBIs), Josh Stonesifer (triple, 2 runs), Charlie Ajemian (WP, 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K).
Quakertown: Cole Reich (2-for-4, double).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 6th: Tied at 5, Josh Stonesifer was hit by a pitch and Mark Selverian walked to lead off the inning, and Ryan Kim advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. Adam Hajdak put the Trojans in front with an RBI single, Giilio Carbo followed with an RBI single and the third run scored on an error.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga: “Mark Selverian is our offensive sparkplug, and today he did what he needed to get us going. He wore two pitches, stole a base and made some great reads on the base paths.
“Josh Stonesifer and Adam Hajdak swung it well for us as well, but we really got production top to bottom. Jonnie Klinger, Jack Weiss and Nate Binkley all came up large for us today barreling up RBI singles from the bottom of the order.
“Obviously, we have a lot to clean up defensively, but when you get the type of pitching we got from Giulio Carbo, Jack Pogue, and Charlie Ajemian, you’re able to overcome those issues.
“It’s great to take Game 1, but now we need to come right back tomorrow and win the series.
Up next: Wissahickon (8-6, 5-5 SOL) will be on the road at Quakertown (8-5, 7-3) Tuesday.

“Upper Moreland is ranked (No.) 3 in 5A and are a very well-coached team that does all the little things right, so this win is pretty big for Springfield. This is going to be a great series and a good test for us as we move along in the season.”

A stellar effort on the mound from Trevor Morris and then a three-run rally against one of the best pitchers in the SOL lifted Bensalem to an impressive road win over Pennsbury in the first of three between the Patriot Division rivals on Monday.

Council Rock North 4, Harry S Truman 3
After a slow start, CR North rallied to go up a run, only to see Truman tie it in the seventh. Then, the Indians had their turn and won the game 4-3 on Will Seiler’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
Although he was not involved in the decision, Seiler also came up big on the mound, allowing three hits and three runs – all unearned - in 6 1/3 innings when he reached his pitch quota. Preston Martin closed out the game and earned the win.

Truman: Tyler Thompson (2-for-3, double, 2 runs), Austin Allen (6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K)

CR North coach Matt Schram: “Will Seiler pitched really well on the mound and was the hero with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off.
“It was important for our guys to figure out a way to win the game when you are behind as we were. (Austin) Allen did a great job for Truman shutting us out for five innings.
“I am proud of the fight our guys showed the last two innings. Getting a win in our league is always hard fought.

Neshaminy 5, Council Rock South 0
Jared Klingerman dominated on the mound, and Neshaminy put the game away with a big seventh inning, out-dueling host CR South by a 5-0 final score on Monday.
Klingerman pitched a four-hit, complete-game shutout, striking out six.
“Today was all about pitching and defense that got us the win,” said Neshaminy coach Dan Toner. “Jared Klingerman was masterful on the mound and was able to spot all of his pitches. We really needed that type of game from him, because CR South’s pitcher did a nice job keeping us off balance at the plate.”
By the Numbers: Neshaminy: Dan Marable (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Brandon Lall (2-for-3), Jared Klingerman (7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K).

Neshaminy coach Dan Toner: “We played incredible defense behind Jared as well. Our entire infield made extraordinary plays, as well as our outfield. In a game where runs are hard to come by, defense and pitching need to be lights out, and that was definitely on display.
“We were able to manufacture our first run - and winning run - by playing small ball. We practice those type of situations constantly, and we executed when it mattered most.”

North Penn 3, Souderton 0
In a crisp, well-pitched game under the lights, North Penn’s Trevor Lugara dazzled on Monday night and helped North Penn best rival Souderton 3-0.
It took Lugara just 72 pitches to get through seven innings, allowing just one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts. After a leadoff walk to Nick Tuccillo in the bottom of the first, which was erased with a double play, Lugara retired 20 straight batters.
The North Penn defense played error-free baseball behind him.
“Trevor was every bit of an ace tonight and a big game to start the week,” said Knights coach Kevin Manero. “72-pitch complete games don’t happen every day.”

Key Inning: Top of the 3rd: Jeremiah Criger and Kevin Brace both drew walks, and an RBI double by Chase Jones gave North Penn all the runs it would need.
NP coach Kevin Manero: “Obviously, (Souderton’s Tyler) Lutz is a tough lefty. We knew we were in for a battle. But I was very happy with our tough approaches at the plate, and we had a couple big hits from Jones and Barnes.”
–Playing at new Souderton stadium: “Kudos to Souderton for investing in their student-athletes and the kids in the community with that beautiful facility. It has allowed personal growth opportunities and baseball opportunities in their community to grow instantly.”
Up next: Souderton (7-5-1, 6-4 SOL) will travel to North Penn (13-2, 8-2) Tuesday.

Central Bucks South 12, Pennridge 0 (5 innings)
Four runs in the top of the first set the tone in this one, and CB South never looked back, blanking host Pennridge in a mercy-rule shortened game by a 12-0 final score.
The Titans scored 12 runs on 11 hits and also drew 11 walks and two hit-by-pitches in an impressive win.
Ace Luke Hillegass did the rest for CB South, with five no-hit innings, walking one and striking out 10.
“This wasn’t what we thought was going to happen going into it,” said CB South coach Kevin Bray. “Every game in this division is a battle, regardless of the score. We have to treat each game like it’s 0-0, and you’ve got to come ready to go.
“We were fortunate to have Luke Hillegass on the mound. He pitched outstanding. He racked up 10 Ks in five innings, didn’t allow a hit, allowed one guy on with a walk. Luke was special today.
“And our defense was on a very high level … it was a good all-around game for us today.”
By the Numbers: CB South: Connor Thompson (3-for-5, 1 RBI), Jake Yang (2-for-3, triple, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Brett Barrett (2-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Owen Pinkerton (2 RBIs), Blake Bell (3 RBIs), Luke Poley (double, 2 RBIs), Luke Hillegass (WP, 5 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 1st: The first three batters reached to lead off the game for the Titans, as Connor Thompson singled, Jake Yang was hit by a pitch and Brett Barrett singled to load the bases. Owen Pinkerton had a one-out RBI single for the game’s first run, and then with two outs, Blake Bell had a two-run single and came around to score on an error.
CB South coach Kevin Bray: “Right out of the get go, getting four runs in the top of the first set the tone for us. Against a good pitcher, obviously with (Ryder) Olson on the mound for Pennridge, we had good at bats to start out. We tacked on a few more and got into the bullpen later. We were able to string some hits together, got a few walks - good, quality at-bats - and got out of there with a win.”
