WISSAHICKON 7, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 4
A two-out bases-loaded double by Matt Oruch was the key hit for the Trojans, who were able to battle back on the road for a win to keep them above .500, at 6-4, in the league.
“He stepped up real big,” said Wissahickon coach Shannon Gunby of Oruch. “All of our leaders stepped up. At this point in time, a win’s a win.”
Another offensive spark was third baseman Blake Rappaport, who was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in the third inning. He was eventually brought home by Greg McDonough (two RBI). Nick Falso also added a pair of hits in support of winning pitcher Randy Frankenfield, who went 6 1/3 innings and struck out 10. He gave way in the bottom of the seventh to Brett Downey, who got the save.
“As a team, we started off slow,” said Gunby. “Randy struggled in the first inning, but he settled in.”
For PW (2-8), Jon Fisher absorbed the loss. Rob Pecharo drove in two runs and Matt Nardo one.

PENNRIDGE 8, HATBORO-HORSHAM 7 (10 innings)
With one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, the host Rams had a window of opportunity to put away a crucial see-saw battle when their batting order came back around to the top.
Danny Shane promptly led off with a disputed infield single and moved to second when Brad Misialek walked. On a 1-0 count, Dave Tatoian singled in Shane with the winning run.
“This was a big win for us,” said Pennridge coach Tom Nuneviller, whose team improved to 6-4 in the league while the Hatters fell to 5-5. “We were down, 4-0. We cut it to 4-3, fell behind, 6-3, came back and tied it. It was just one of those games.
“It was an exciting game, and it was a big game.”
Shane finished the day with three hits, including a double, and two RBI. Chipping in with two-hit games were Tatoian, A.J. Moletierre (solo home run), Tyler Shoultes (double, two RBI) and Joe Unangst (double).

PENNSBURY 10, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0
The Falcons’ roller-coaster season continued on an upswing as Joe Sabatino took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and earned the shutout win a game shortened by the mercy rule. Sabatino allowed just win hit
“Sabatino was incredible, and we just hit the ball,” said Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci. “They actually struck us out a bunch, but it really didn’t matter.”
The decisive verdict put the Falcons (8-5 overall) at 5-5 in the league. The Golden Hawks (4-6 overall) fell to 4-5.
The Falcons started the season 5-0 and won their first three league contests before a bitter 3-2 loss to the Golden Hawks ignited what was a five-game losing skid.
Today’s equalizer was their third in a row, including two in the league.
According to Pesci, it’s all been about timely hitting and fielding.
“We were giving teams too many outs, and you can’t do that in this league,” he said. “We weren’t making the kind of plays you need to make to win games. In these last three games, which have all been against good teams, we hit the ball and played good defense.”
Leading the Falcons’ attack were Justin Jacko (a double, 2 RBI), Jake Goldberg (two hits, including a triple, 2 RBI) and Ryan Sheaffer (2-for-2, RBI). Also driving in runs were Nick DeMarchis and Kyle Marshall.
Ryan Fleming absorbed the loss for the Golden Hawks,.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5, HARRY S. TRUMAN 1
The Indians (6-4) created some key separation between themselves and the visiting Tigers (4-6) in the cluttered standings behind the arm of junior Matt Renck, who went the distance for the win in what was the first varsity start of his career.
“He was the star of the show today,” said Indians’ coach Matt Schram of Renck, who allowed two hits and issued only two free passes while fanning five.
Renck, described as a submarine-style pitcher, had previously been a middle reliever before getting the call Tuesday.
“It was just his time,” said Schram. “I just felt like he was ready to go out there (in a starting role).”
Support at the plate was provided by Tyler Callender, whose two hits included a two-run double in the three-run fifth inning that broke open a 2-0 game pitcher’s duel.
Tyler Perry and Cole German also had two each hits for the Indians.
