National Conference
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6, NESHAMINY 5
The Redskins had already clinched a share of the conference title, but the Indians – winners of seven in a row since their 12-0 loss to William Tennent - added their name to the conversation, pulling to within one game of the ‘Skins after Friday’s win.
“It was a playoff atmosphere kind of game, so the game was kind of played that way – a lot of small ball, a lot of moving guys and that kind of thing,” coach Matt Schram said. “We didn’t have any guys with multiple hits. We played small ball, and we ran the bases pretty well today.”
The Indians won the game in unorthodox fashion in the bottom of the seventh, plating the go-ahead run on a passed ball with pitcher Nate English – in his first at-bat of the season – at the plate.
“They just battle and battle,” Schram said. “Going into that seventh inning, no heads were down. Everyone was excited. Everybody was feeling pretty good that we were going to at least tie the game in one way, shape or form.
“What’s happening is – I hate the line ‘refuse to lose,’ but they’re finding ways to win. It seems like losing is not an option any more.
“We executed the game plan based on who we were facing – Cole Creighton, who’s a good pitcher, so we knew we would have to move runners and play that brand of baseball.”
The Indians scored a pair of runs in the third inning to go on top 2-0. Tyler Perry had a base hit and scored a run, Max German contributed a hit, and Tyler Callendar delivered a sacrifice fly.
In a two-run fourth inning, Brett Newman and J.R. Hicks both singled, Perry had a sacrifice fly, and an error sent the second run across and gave the Indians a 4-2 lead.
The Redskins made it a 4-3 game in the fifth, thanks to an RBI triple from Sean Udris.
A two-run double by Justin Andrews in the sixth inning put the Redskins on top 5-4, and they took that lead into the seventh when the Indians staged their comeback. The Indians were on the receiving end of back-to-back walks to lead off the seventh. With one out and runners on second and third, the Indians plated the tying run on a passed ball. One out later, the scene was duplicated as the Redskins scored the winning run on another passed ball.
Brett Newman pitched into the sixth inning for the Indians when he was relieved by Nate English.
“He didn’t finish, but he threw great,” Schram said of Newman, who fanned three and walked three.
English closed out the sixth and threw a one-two-three seventh.
The Indians improved to 9-4 in league play (11-5 overall) while the Redskins are 10-3 in the league (14-4 overall). Rock North will faced Council Rock South in Monday’s league finale while Neshaminy will take on archrival Pennsbury.

ABINGTON 5, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
Eric Tidwell asked for the ball on Friday night.
Coach Dave Torresani was more than happy to oblige, and Abington’s senior shortstop responded by pitching a gem, tossing a complete game no-hitter to lead the Ghosts to the nonleague win in a contest played under the lights at Roslyn Park.
“He’s been our closer, and he has pitched well in limited innings,” Torresani said. “He’s a four-year starter, and when he asked to start on Senior Night, I said, ‘Absolutely.’
“We didn’t know how long he could go, but his pitch count was very low, and that’s why he was able to go seven innings. He was really around the plate, and he got a lot of ground balls, which is the kind of pitcher he is. He really did an awesome and, quite frankly, unexpected job. You don’t expect a kid to come out and be able to pitch a no-hitter and pitch the way he did against a very good team.”
Tidwell fanned five, walked two and hit a batter. The Hatters’ lone run in the third inning was unearned, the results of three Abington errors.
The Ghosts were able to put five runs on the board, and it all added up to a memorable Senior Night for Tidwell and his fellow seniors.
“It was awesome,” Torresani said. “When we play our Senior Night, we play under the lights at Roslyn Park, and there are tons of people there and lots of kids. It’s just fantastic for baseball when you can get people to come out and watch baseball on a Friday night.
“It’s really great for our kids and the Hatboro-Horsham kids to play in that environment, and for Eric to do that on that kind of night is even more special.”
For the Hatters, John Hlywiak was strong on the mound as well, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six. The Hatters committed four errors in the fifth inning, allowing five unearned runs to cross the plate. Sophomore Ryan Murphy made his varsity debut and collected two big outs to get out of the inning without further damage. Dave Brown threw a scoreless sixth inning for the Hatters.
Continental Conference
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 6, SOUDERTON 0
The Titans kept themselves in the hunt to earn a share of the Continental Conference title, defeating Souderton behind the two-hit masterpiece of Bobby Wittemann. The Titans trail conference leader Central Bucks East by one game and will face the Patriots in a showdown on Monday.
Wittemann fanned eight and walked a pair in the complete game win. His teammates scored all the runs he would need in a three-run second inning.
Matt Radwanski led the Titans with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate that included a double and two RBIs. Pat Fitzgerald added a double and two RBIs while Jon Mullin and Michael Kuypers each had an RBI.
The Titans are 9-3 in league play (11-4 overall) while the Indians fell to 5-7 in the league (8-9 overall).

NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
Brian Maher had a Senior Night to remember on Friday, tossing a four-hit shutout to lead the Knights to the win in front of packed sidelines under the lights at Hostelley Field.
“He only threw 81 pitches, and he threw a ton of strikes,” coach Kevin Manero said of Maher. “When he did get into some trouble, he managed to bear down.”
The Knights staged a two-out rally in the first inning to plate all three of their runs. Eddie Posavec got things started with a stand-up triple. Chris Kersey drew a walk, and sophomore Jared Malone, a recent addition to the lineup at first base, delivered an RBI single up the middle.
“He seems to find ways to get RBIs every game,” Manero said.
Bobby Scott delivered the inning’s big blow, a two-run double to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. That was more than enough for Maher.
“Late in the game, we turned a couple of big double plays to cut down some rallies, but he was very good tonight,” Manero said of Maher. “He’s been pretty good for us all year, and when he keeps the ball down, he gets a lot of outs.
“He pitched to contact, threw strikes, made them swing the bats. It wasn’t like he had a comfortable lead, so he had to be sharp. He got stronger as the game went on. What more can you want than a complete game with 81 pitches.”
The Knights improved to 9-4 in league play (10-6 overall) while the Bucks fell to 3-10 in the league (5-12 overall).

HATBORO-HORSHAM 10, QUAKERTOWN 1
Senior Ryan Keller had a big day for the Hatters. The St. Joe's signee was 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI and also was the winning pitcher. On the mound, Kelly went six innings, allowing three hits and seven walks while striking out six.
Offensively, Eric Lane was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Zach Prendergast was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Chris Naiberk was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Grant Oaplisky was 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. Sophomore Alex Kleidon collected his first varsity hit, RBI and stolen base.
The Hatters are 6-7 in the league (9-10 overall) while the Panthers fell to 0-13 in league play (0-16 overall).
PENNRIDGE 9, PALISADES 2
The Rams scored three runs in both the first and second innings on their way to the big non-league win.
Tom Nunneviller was 2-for-2 with a double while Evan Tice and Eric Wesowski were 2-for-3, and Ben Schweitzer was 2-for-4. David Tatoian contributed a double. Jeff Roedel had a team high three RBIs for the Rams, who pounded out 13 hits.
Trevor Dalton earned the win on the mound, upping his record to 4-0 on the season.
The Rams improved to 13-5 on the season.

American Conference
UPPER MORELAND 10, SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 0 (5 innings)
Seniors Matt Kohn and Robert Knox went a combined 4-for-7 with three runs scored and six RBIs. Knox set the tone for the game with a leadoff home run, and Kohn closed out the scoring with a bases-loaded double off the top of the fence. Knox and Kohn each had three RBIs. Nick Corbett also got into the act, going 2-for-2 with a run scored. Also contributing extra base hits for the Golden Bears were Charlie Hooker (double) and Tommy Robinson (triple). Matt Cavanaugh had a pair of RBIs.
Eddie Decker remained perfect on the year on the mound, allowing three hits while striking out four and walking one.
