Pennridge 1, North Penn 0
Five days earlier, Pennridge ran up against North Penn ace Trevor Lugara and ended up on the short end of a 1-0 final. Monday was the rematch and the rubber game of the three-game series between the two teams under the lights of Hostelley Field.
This time, however, Ryder Olson and the Rams were the ones who ended up on the winning end of the Knights' Senior Night game 1-0.
“The entire series was extremely tight and well-played on both sides,” said Rams coach Dan Long. “We got a tremendous effort from Ryder Olson once again.
“This was a great series win for us as a team.”
One second inning run proved the difference, as Olson and Austin Cox combined on a four-hit shutout of the Colonial Division champion Knights.
Pennridge entered Monday in the No. 27 position in the District One Class 6A rankings, and only 24 teams qualify for the postseason tournament. While beating North Penn (No. 5) will help Pennridge, two of the teams ahead of it, Council Rock South (No. 24) and Cheltenham (No. 26) both won Monday, as well. The Rams will find out their fate at Thursday night’s seeding meeting.

Nine runs in the first two innings gave CR South a huge cushion at home, and it rolled from there to an important 9-3 win over rival CR North in the regular-season finale.

“Great team win,” said CR South coach Greg Paprocki. “Probably the most complete game we’ve played this whole season.

Upper Moreland 10, New Hope-Solebury 6
With 10 runs on 13 hits, Upper Moreland wrapped up its Freedom Division season in style and completed the season sweep of New Hope.
The Golden Bears led this one 6-1 at one point, only to see host New Hope rally to tie it in the fifth inning, but with two in the sixth and two in the seventh, they put the game away.
UM had four extra base hits, led by Lucas Zipper, who had three hits and two doubles.
By the Numbers: UM: Lucas Zipper (3-for-5, 2 doubles, 1 RBI), Chase Moore (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Colson Campbell (2-for-4, 2 runs), Josh Darsney (2-for-3, 1 double, 2 RBIs), Max Abbosh (2-for-2, 1 triple, 4 runs, 1 RBI), Murray (1-for-3, 2 RBIs).
Key Innings: Top of the 6th: Tied at 6, Abbosh led off with a walk, and after being bunted to second, scored on a RBI single by Jimmy Murray. Later with two outs, Lucas Zipper doubled to make it 8-6.
UM coach Jim Fasano: “Really nice team win for us despite a shaky fifth inning.
“Cannon Campbell once again pounded the zone, throwing 33 of 47 pitches for strikes in his 3.2 innings of relief. The kid just doesn’t blink no matter the situation.
“We had a bunch of two-out hits with runners in scoring position, notably by Chase Moore, Josh Darsney, Max Abbosh, and Chase Rampulla. Maybe it was just a matter of time or maybe it was my coaching (probably not) that helped turn the tide. Whatever the reason, I’m glad we’re here now.”
–Props: “Josh Darsney had two hits, as did Max Abbosh, Colson Campbell and Chase Moore. Lucas Zipper had three, including two doubles. Nice to see the boys playing well at the end of the year.
“I’m particularly happy for Josh Darsney, he transferred to UM from La Salle and has already made a huge contribution as a sophomore. Great kid, good teammate, tremendous work ethic. Those three qualities are a good start in life.
“Max Abbosh has been the consummate teammate, senior and general human being this season, as he struggled offensively initially and found himself in a reserve role. But he’s started two of the last three games and has two hits in both games. As I’ve said before, I’m probably going to be working for him one day, if he’ll hire me.
--Overview: “New Hope has a great coach and some outstanding young players. We got the best of them today, but there are better days ahead for that group.
“We went 13-2 this league season and I am fortunate to have a great group of coaches, players and parents to share these successes with. Upper Moreland is a special community.
“Our job is not done yet. We have a second round playoff game a week from Wednesday that is another opportunity to make proud all those people who’ve supported us this year.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury (13-5, 7-2 SOL) will host Solebury for a non-league game Wednesday when the Lions will celebrate Senior Night. Upper Moreland closed out its regular season with an overall record of 13-5 (8-1 SOL).
