SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks South 53, Central Bucks East 43
The Titans made history.
Tuesday’s win was the team’s 15th in a row, breaking the previous record of 14 and putting this year’s Titan squad in the program record books. Making the accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that it came on the heels of three straight losses to open the season.
The first time these two rivals played was a statement 24-point win on the road for CB South, which then was still in the infancy of its winning streak.
Tuesday, Titans coach Louie Ditri expected CB East to respond and it did, but in the end, South hit its free throws and emerged with the hard-fought 53-43 victory.
Key Players: For CB South, Ben Harrison (15 points, 7-8 FT), Brett Barrett (12 points), Danny Gies (12 points).
For CB East, AJ Molnar (11 points), Connor Mekanik (9 points).
CB South coach Louie Ditri said: “I didn’t know what to expect with the off day yesterday. The first quarter was a little slow offensively for both teams. We knew they were going to throw different looks and strategy at us. They started in zone and it worked. It took a couple minutes to score. We finally started hitting 3s, and they had to go back into their man, and we could run our man offense.
“At halftime, it was looking good (South led 24-14), but East came out in the third quarter and got back in it. They started pressuring the ball, running traps and got a few steals. They cut it to a five-point lead at the end of the quarter. They were aggressive defensively and hit a couple jumpers.”
–Solid from the line: “Our foul shooting was tremendous. I believe we were 14 of 18 in the fourth quarter. We started handling their pressure better. They were scrambling on defense, and we were able to beat it and draw fouls. The key for us was foul shooting in the fourth.”
–Props: “Our point guard, Cole DiEmidio, did a really good job tonight. He handled their pressure really well. He’s been doing it all season, but tonight he played particularly well.”
Next up: Central Bucks South (15-3, 6-0 SOL) will host North Penn Friday, and Central Bucks East (11-7, 2-4) will be on the road at Pennridge Friday.

Central Bucks West 56, North Penn 44
CB West went into Tuesday having put a couple of solid wins together after a five-game losing streak, but as the Bucks returned to Colonial Division play, they faced off with a North Penn team that won the first game between the two squads by 29 points.
West flipped the script this time around, bouncing back from a slow start to avenge that previous loss and make it three straight wins.
CB West coach Adam Sherman on the win: “It felt really good. The first time we played them was one of the worst showings I’ve seen. We were terrible. They played a lot of zone, and our zone execution was dreadful, and it carried over to the defensive side. It was one of those games you just want to flush.
“It was nice to see them play well. We were down 14-4 at one point. Dan Pellegrini had a really good first quarter and got us back tied (14-14). Roman had a strong second quarter. Melillo played well in the second half, and we had other guys stepped up and performed for us tonight.”
Next up: Central Bucks West (7-11, 1-5 SOL) will host Souderton Friday, and North Penn (6-12) will be on the road at Central Bucks South Friday.
Central Bucks West (56) - Roman Kulesa 6 1-4 15; Max Milillo 2 2-2 8; Dan Pellegrini 7 3-6 19; Connor Chuo 4 1-2 10; Isaiah Rubenstein 1 0-0 2; John Vrettos 1 0-0 2; Totals 21 7-14 56

Souderton 57, Pennridge 31
Souderton went to Pennridge and after a slow start shooting the ball, caught fire and built a 31-15 lead by halftime on the way to the convincing win, the second for the Indians over their archrivals.
“We got off to a slow start and I’m pleased with how we stayed poised and didn’t panic,” said Souderton coach Okoteh Sackitey. “Our shots weren’t falling early, but we closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run in the last minute and a half from turnovers.”
Pennridge had won four of five games heading into Tuesday’s contest.
Key players: For Souderton, Chanse Salone (14 points), Grady Kovach (12 points).
For Pennridge, Xavier Peters (12 points).
Souderton coach Okoteh Sackitey said: “The kids shared the ball really well. We played so selflessly. There was no hesitation to pass to anyone. We kept the ball moving well tonight. Nolan Watkins, Trey Bui, Chanse Salone all had a bunch of assists. If I had to guess, this is probably the most assists we've had in a game. I liked how the ball was moving.
"We were hungry on defense as well. We forced a good amount of turnovers. Our defense turned into offense, and on offense, we shared it really well.”
--Props: “Dylan Quinn is a sophomore swing player for us, and he hit two big 3s in the second half. Pennridge was digging into the lead a bit, and Dylan hit a big 3 to get us back on track. As a swing player, that's really big. Dylan's a talented player, and he has a bright future with us.
"Grady Kovach has been steady. We have some 'big names' with Chanse Salone, Nolan Watkins and Nate Rusike, and Trey Bui has made his presence felt recently, and I feel like it's easy to lose track of how good Grady Kovach is playing. He flew around on defense. It was one of his best performances on defense, and he had 12 points. It was a good night all around."
Pennridge coach Dean Behrens on the game: “In the first quarter, we got a lot of good shots, and boy, we missed a lot of chippies, and we’re down 13-5. I felt if we had hit some of them, we would have been tied or ahead of them. Give Souderton credit. They just rolled us in the second, third and fourth quarters. They started trapping us, and we started turning the ball over. They were beating us to every loose ball, they got every 50-50 ball, they outrebounded us. They took us to the woodshed tonight.
“For us, it’s going to be – how do we react to this? The reality is two weeks from tonight we’ll be getting on the bus at CB West driving home, and that’s the end of the regular season. We have six games left, we’ve got two weeks left. We trying to be a playoff team. We have to see if we have enough gas left in the tank to get there.”
Next up: Souderton (11-5, 5-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West Friday, and Pennridge (9-7, 2-4) will host Central Bucks East Friday.
Souderton (57) - Chanse Salone 5 2-2 14; Trey Bui 4 0-0 10; Nolan Watkins 4 0-0 9; Nate Rusike 1 0-0 2; Levi Epps 2 0-0 4; Grady Kovach 6 0-0 12; Dylan Quinn 2 0-0 6; Totals 24 2-2 57

SOL Patriot Division
Bensalem 58, Council Rock North 44
Aidan Mayfield had a huge night, knocking down three 3-pointers and scoring a team-high 25 points, as Bensalem started quickly and took out a short-handed CR North squad by 14 in Patriot Division play on Tuesday.
The Owls led 29-15 at halftime.
Key Players: For Bensalem, Aidan Mayfield (25 points, 8 rebounds), Amir Drummond (11 points).
For CR North, Jack Curry (14 points), Josh Erman (12 points).
Bensalem coach Ron Morris on the game: "Coming into the game, they were down - Grady (Burt) is out for the year, and (Andrew) O'Keefe was out too, but we knew it wasn't going to be easy. Coach (Derek) Wright is one of the best coaches in the SOL for a really long time. He's somebody I learned a lot from over the last 20 years. We knew he'd have a great game plan. They were taking Amir (Drummond) away, and we had to get some other guys going.
"We knew they would make a run at us, and they did. We made some not good basketball decisions on the offensive end, which turned into conversions for them, but we withstood the run. We were up 15, they cut it to four and finished the quarter on a 4-0 run.
"Early in the fourth, we extended the lead right back to 15. We really locked in defensively in the fourth quarter. It was an up and down game. We locked in, and we pulled out a nice victory against a team that we knew - this is their playoffs, so you've got to bring it. You can't just think they're going to lay down and let you win. We enjoy it tonight and get ready for another war on Friday."
--Props: “Aidan Mayfield really stepped up tonight. We always know he has the offensive ability. He's just getting more and more confident. He had three 3s in the first quarter which sparked us offensively. He had a really big game offensively and finished the game with 25. He had some nice finishes at the rim, a couple and-ones, so it was really good to see that. He not only had 25 points, but he had eight rebounds and two steals as well.
"Chris Kelly played a really good basketball game. He's a kid who's a senior. He was on the team last year but didn't play many minutes. This year's minutes have been up and down. We challenged the whole team about a week-and-a-half ago to continue to ‘embrace your role, be happy and be appreciative of everything that we have,’ and he's someone who really listened. We saw him turn the corner. He stays positive every day. He took advantage of minutes tonight. He had seven points in the fourth quarter, and that sparked us in the fourth."
"Amir (Drummond) finished with 11 points and five assists. They were face guarding him everywhere he went, but he was able to hit some shots in crucial moments in the fourth.
"Jahmir Chatman had four points in the third quarter, a crucial four points.

Council Rock South 65, Neshaminy 61
After watching Neshaminy chip away in the fourth quarter, CR South put this one away late as Ray Haglund scored all eight of his points in the final eight minutes, including a layup late and two free throws to help clinch the win.
Key Players: For CR South, MJ Thompson (18 points), Ryan Delp (15 points, 3 steals), Ryan Wekluk (6 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds), Ray Haglund (8 points, all in fourth quarter).
For Neshaminy, Max Currie (20 points, 12 in second half), Logan Gale (17 points), Jason Leiva (15 points, 3 3-pointers).
CR South coach Andrew Rogers on the win: “I thought our guys fought the whole night. We went into the half up 10, but I’ve got to do a better job coaching the guys in that spot. But credit to Neshaminy. Coach (Mark) Tingle does a good job and they always play really hard. They chipped away at that lead, Max Currie played really well for them, and we were down one with two minutes left.”
–Props: “Ray Haglund had the layup and then also two free throws to put us up in the fourth. He was good all night. We got a lot of really good minutes from all of our guys. MJ (Thompson) had 18, Ryan Delp had 15 points and three steals, including one he deflected at the end of the game when we were up two. Ryan Wekluk had six assists and five rebounds and was good throughout the game. Credit to our guys. They stuck with it.”

Pennsbury 68, Harry S Truman 41
Returning to division play, Pennsbury played one of its best all-around games of the season and in doing so ended a three-game losing streak with a convincing win over Harry S. Truman on Tuesday night.
“I think this is by far the best Truman team I’ve coached against since I came back to Pennsbury,” said Falcons coach Wes Emme. “They come in prepared, with a plan. Tonight, we were a different team than we were in the beginning of the year and the team we are now. We’ve had a lot of growth as a team.”
Key Players: For Pennsbury, Mike Roccograndi (22 points), Sean Breslin (13 points).
For Truman, Davae Vaughn (15 points), Jaden Luchansky (11 points), Tre Winton (10 points.
Pennsbury coach Wes Emme said about the win: “Defensively, we’re kind of finding ourselves. Those three losses were to some really good teams. Tonight, we played well defensively and offensively, some guys found the bottom of the net.”
–Props: “Roccograndi had 22. Sean Breslin was outstanding in his first start, as a sophomore. He hit a bunch of ‘3s’, but mostly for Sean, it was defensively. He blocked some shots, helped us on the boards. It was a nice way for him to make his first start.”
Next up: Pennsbury (9-8, 5-1 SOL) will host Bensalem Friday, and Harry S Truman (7-11, 1-5) will be on the road at Council Rock South Friday.

SOL Liberty Division
Abington 50, Hatboro-Horsham 48
Hatboro-Horsham led by 10 going into the fourth quarter and looked to be in great shape for a huge Liberty Division upset, but the Hatters couldn’t hang on as Abington rallied for the two-point win in the end.
Michael O’Rourke came off the bench and buried a pair of 3s to spark the Ghosts. Kyler Pickron and Xander Grasty each had five points in a quarter that saw Abington outscore its visitors 20-10 to eke out the win.

For H-H, Shane Phillips (16 points), Ryan Smith (12 points).
Abington coach Dan Marsh on the victory: “Hatboro played a great game. We are in kind of a midseason slump. I can’t really put my finger on it, but we’re not playing well.
“But we were lucky enough to persevere and get the win. Junior Michael O’Rourke came in and hit some 3s and lit a fire for us. Without him, we would’ve lost.”
H-H coach Bill Coleman said: “Turnovers at the end hurt us. While the loss hurts, we are happy with the progress the guys are making.”

It was an all-out mauling Tuesday, as PW jumped all over Quakertown on the way to a 29-12 first half and a thorough 72-24 win.
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Jim Donofrio on the win: “We were exceptionally focused on defense for the duration. That was a big step for us.”

Upper Dublin 68, Wissahickon 33
A 5 p.m. start gave this rivalry matchup a different look, but it didn’t negatively affect Upper Dublin, which won its 17th straight game in convincing style over visiting Wissahickon on Tuesday.
The Flying Cardinals won the previous game between the two teams, 46-35.
Key Players: For UD, Ryan Mulroy (15 points), Justin Ragsdale (9 points).
For Wissahickon, Mason Stelzer (9 points), Nico Vacchiano (8 points).
UD coach Derek Brooks said: “It’s hard to tell what kind of impact (the early start) was going to have. It was a little different feel, but I’m not sure if that hurt or helped us. I think the game was a little quieter. We usually play Wiss at home in Game 1, and there’s a lot of excitement. It deflated the gym a tad. Sure, it’s good whenever you play a rival, but it just didn’t have the same intensity.”
–Defense, defense, defense: “I thought our defense was very good throughout. We executed our game plan. Offensively, we knew they’d play a lot of zone. I thought we settled for jump shots too much. I think we were 2-for-15 in ‘3s’ in the first half. Any time we got inside or got out on a break, we scored.
“After that, we had multiple discussions and said, ‘Hey, we’re settling too much.’ After that we were great offensively. I thought the second half was good. We were just settling for jumpers too much in the first half.”
–Props: “It, maybe, was Kobe Bazemore’s best game. He did a great job on Nico (Vacchiano) defensively. He didn’t force shots and got other guys the ball. Reilly McLaughlin also did a great job on defense. We knew if we could slow Nico down, it was going to be difficult for them to score.
“Ryan Mulroy was great. It was pretty balanced. I think all eight of our guys scored.”
Next up: Upper Dublin (17-1, 6-0 SOL) will host Abington Friday, and Wissahickon (7-9, 2-4) will be on the road at Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Wissahickon (33) - Mason Stelzer 4 0-0 9; Chase Neumeister 0 2-2 2; Michael Martin 1 0-0 2; Owen Haughey 0 3-4 3; Nico Vacchiano 3 2-4 8; Ben Schwartz 1 1-2 3; Delmar Taliafaro 3 0-0 6.

Springfield Twp 54, New Hope-Solebury 49 (OT)
On the road, Springfield couldn’t shake New Hope all night, and after a big second half for the Lions, the game went to overtime. There, the Spartans took over and pulled away for the 54-49 Freedom Division victory.
Key Players: For Springfield, Bob Hartman (17 points, 7 rebounds), Aiden Hood (7 points, 10 rebounds), Brandon Thompson (13 points, 4 rebounds).
Springfield Twp coach Rob Fusaro on the game: "Another overtime game - we seem to like those.
"It's always tough to play up there. I don't know why. They play well there usually. In five years, every year it's usually a tougher game up there.
"Also, I think not doing anything for three days, obviously, we had a little rust on us, but we were able to get comfortable after the first quarter. We just told them to keep staying the course of what we're doing, and they did a really nice job of sticking to what we do, making key plays and shots, getting key free throws and just playing really tough defense and doing it together."
--OT: "We shot our free throws really well. Julian Ciasullo hit some (3-for-4), Will Cooney made some (2-for-2). Brandon Thompson made a big steal near half court, got in and made a layup and got the momentum swinging to us. We played good defense, got the stops and finished it out with the free throws. We controlled the game on offense, didn't take any quick shots and did all the right things to finish it out, so it was good."
Next up: Springfield Twp (9-6, 3-3 SOL) will host Lower Moreland Friday, and New Hope-Solebury (2-12, 0-6) will host Upper Moreland Thursday.

Defensively, Upper Moreland was ready to go from the jump and held Tennent to just 10 points in the first half on its way to the 24-point win on Tuesday night.
The win was the third in a row for the Golden Bears.
Key Players: For UM, Larry Hughes (16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks), Jadon Cybok (11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals), Colson Campbell (8 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists).
For Tennent, Jayden Bright (12 points).
UM coach Dan Heiland on the win: “We ended up holding Tennent to 32 points. We did a really good job as a team. They had 10 points in the first half. We had a good understanding of what our game plan was defensively, and we executed it almost perfectly.
“It definitely builds confidence on both ends if you get stops. On offense, you’re able to get to spots and guys are shooting with confidence. We had a lot of dribble penetration, and we were finishing around the basket.”
Next up: Upper Moreland (14-4, 5-1 SOL) will travel to New Hope-Solebury Thursday, and William Tennent (8-8, 3-3) will host Cheltenham Friday.
