Upper Dublin (10-7, 4-5) broke open a tie game at the half with a 19-point third period as the Flying Cardinals soared to a 63-48 victory over host Plymouth Whitemarsh (10-7, 6-3).

“We went into this game with a lot of confidence,” said Upper Dublin head coach Josh Adelman.  “We have lost too many games in the fourth period, and we have been working hard in practice on finishing games.  We did that tonight against a good team.

“We executed on both offense and defense for the full 32 minutes,” added Adelman.  “The players all seemed to feed off one another, and we had contributions from every one.”

The Cardinals were led in scoring by John Decamara with 18 points that included four 3-point bombs.  Andrew Carber (16), Darrell Harrison (16), and Andrew Derr (11) all scored in double figures for the winners.  Jared Zarwin scored just two points by distributed the ball extremely well from his point guard position.

“Carber, Derr, and Harrison all attacked the rim very well,” said Adelman as the Cardinals were a sizzling 17-24 shooting from 2-point land.  “And Decamara was able to knock some down from the perimeter.

“We knew going into the second half of the season, teams that lost the first half were going to turn around and knock people off the second half,” added Adelman.  “That happened with Norristown beating Wissahickon the other night, and it happened with us tonight against PW.  This is a very competitive league.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh had two players reach double figures as Russhon Phillips scored 16 points and Anthony McKie added 15 points for the Colonials.

Abington (13-5, 6-4) delivered a 26-point fourth period knockout blow as the Ghosts moved into a second place tie in the Suburban One League National Conference with a 62-49 victory over visiting Pennsbury (11-6, 6-4).  Abington, Pennsbury, and Bensalem all have 6-4 conference records and trail CR North, which owns a 9-1 mark.

“We felt that we have let couple of games slip away from us by not being able to finish games,” said Abington head coach Charles Grasty.  “But we played with a great amount of intensity in the fourth period, and we were able to finish this game strong.”

The strongest of the Abington performances came from junior Anthony Durham who scored a game-high 26 points.  Durham shot 8-for-10 from the field with a trio of 3-point field goals and was a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line.  Jordan Simmons also played a strong game for the Ghosts with 18 points.

“Our goal right now is win as many games as we can to get the best seed for the (district) playoffs,” said Grasty.  “With Council Rock North having only one loss, winning a conference championship isn’t going to happen.  But we still have a great deal to play for the remainder of the season.”

Pennsbury had four players score in twin digits.  Kieran Bolger led the Falcons with 11 points – a total that was matched by Shawn Pepper.  Jerrel Burke (10) and Ryan Charity also scored in double figures for Pennsbury.

“The key to the game was the way that Steve Topley was able to shut down Tim Abruzzo,” said Central Bucks East head coach Erik Henrysen.  “Abruzzo is such a great scorer, and for us to hold him to six points is amazing.  Steve had one job – got some help from teammates – and didn’t give him any breathing room.  His value on defense was incredible.”
