Norristown (6-4, 3-1) used a suffocating defensive effort as the Eagles soared to a 55-43 victory over Upper Dublin (6-5, 1-3).

“We played great defense tonight,” said Norristown head coach Michael Evans.  “Every time we play a good game, it all starts with our defense.  Good defense gets us into our transition game – and we need that to score some easy baskets.  Upper Dublin is a team that can shoot the basketball, and to hold them to 43 points says a lot about how we played on the defensive end.”

Norristown senior BJ Gordon – who led the Eagles with 12 points – was given the assignment of defending high scoring Cardinal John Decamara.  And Gordon received an A+ for his efforts as Decamara was ‘held’ to just 11 points.

“We played straight man-to-man, and BJ was on him most of the game,” said Evans.  “We rotate a lot of players on the floor – use a lot of combinations – and it worked out for us tonight.  We have had a lot of different players step up this year and play good games.”

Norristown guard Luke Kelly scored 11 points for the Birds, while Jahbri Hargrove also scored 11 points for the Eagles.

Andrew Carber scored a game-high 17 points for Upper Dublin.

“This was a nice win, but any win in the league is a good win,” said Evans.  “Our goal is to keep playing hard and getting better every game.”
