Wissahickon (2-1) received a superlative 36-point scoring outing by Jordan Reed as the host Trojans ruined the debut of North Penn head coach John Conrad with a 61-40 victory over the Knights (0-1).
“I guess you could say that Jordan is feeling comfortable in his role as a scorer,” said Wissahickon head coach Kyle Wilson. “We run some specific things for him, but most of the time he scores in the sets that we run as a team. He can pick and choose when to score and when to get his teammates involved, and he has done a great job of that so far this year.
“Jordan had a couple of incredible dunks that came off hustle plays on defense,” added Wilson. “That isn’t something that he learned from me as a coach – that is athletic ability.”
Reed scored 12 points in the first period to stake the Trojans to an 18-8 lead, and Reed matched that 12-point total in the third period as Wissahickon took a 52-28 lead into the final period.
“This has been a team that has playing good defense as a goal every game,” said Wilson. “Both Jordan and Kyle (Garrett) are very vocal with the rest of the team in stressing good defense.”
North Penn managed just a single player in double figures as Mike Swanson scored 10 points.
Wissahickon also received fine play from sophomore point guard Chase Wilson. Wilson has been solid this year with only one turnover in each of the Trojan games thus far this season.
“Chase has really done a good job running the offense,” said Wilson. “He has put the ball in the hands of the right players.”
Wissahickon opens Suburban One League American Conference play on Friday at Plymouth Whitemarsh. The leading scorer for the Colonials has been Anthony McKie – who played his junior year of high school basketball at Wissahickon.
“PW is the defending league champions, and haven’t lost a league games in two or three years,” said Wilson. “And to play them – with Anthony on the team – should make it a fun Friday night.”

Flying Cardinals Soar to Victory
Upper Dublin (2-1) flew to an 11-point first period lead and soared to a 50-42 non-conference victory over host Central Bucks East (0-1).
“Our defensive intensity was good in that first period, and we forced them to take a lot of one-shot possessions,” said Upper Dublin head coach Josh Adelman. “We were able to push the ball up the floor, and we were able to finish a lot of fast breaks.”
The Flying Cardinals were led in scoring by senior John DeCamara with 15 points. Six foot – seven-inch Andrew Carber added 12 points for UD, while Darrell Harrison added nine points for the winners.
The Patriots were led is scoring by Ryan O’Neil, who scored a game-high 20 points. Steve Topley also scored in twin digits for CB East with 11 markers.
Upper Dublin will open its SOL American Conference schedule against unbeaten Cheltenham (3-0) this Friday, while CB East will open its SOL Continental Conference season with North Penn (0-1).
“Cheltenham is very athletic, and they have extremely quick guards,” said Adelman. “The league is wide open, and we’ll just have to see who is playing well on any given night.”

Eagles Soar to Victory
Norristown (1-1) had 11 players get into the scoring parade as the Eagles flew to a 63-37 victory over Truman (1-2).
“This team is fighting to find its own identity,” said Norristown head coach Michael Evans. “We are going to try different combinations and find out something about ourselves.”
Norristown was led in scoring by Marquis Bryant with a game-high 15 points, while Luke Kelly chipped in with seven points. Samir Bey, Chris Evans, Bernard Gordon, Jahbri Hargrove, and Danny Orr each scored six points for the Eagles.
Truman was led in scoring by Merdic Green with 12 points, while Daiquan Ashley chipped in with eight points for the Tigers.
Norristown will open its SOL American Conference schedule with a home game against Upper Merion (0-1), while Truman will be on the road against Council Rock South (1-1).

Panthers Claw Bucks
Cheltenham (3-0) remained unbeaten for the season as the Panthers clawed Central Bucks West (2-1) – 55-41.
“This team has continued to play well together,” said Cheltenham head coach Brian Johnson. “The leaders on this team are seniors, and we expect them to be able to do the right things on the court.”
Cheltenham trailed the Bucks 8-7 at the close of the period but rallied in the second period to take a 22-16 lead into the locker room at intermission. Nafis Walker scored 10 of his team-high 17 points in the third period to help secure the win. Jarrell Haywood also scored in twin digits for the Panthers with 14 points.
Central Bucks West had a pair of players reach double figures. Tyler Schechter scored a game-high 18 points, while Derek Dyer finished with 13 points.
Cheltenham will open its SOL American Conference schedule at Upper Dublin (2-1), while CB West will host Souderton (2-0) in its SOL Continental Conference opener.

CR North drops Season Opener
Council Rock North (0-1) faced a stiff challenger in its season opener as the Indians lost a 62-53 contest to Constitution (1-1).
“We competed well against some very good competition,” said Council Rock North head coach Derek Wright. “For us to go into North Philadelphia on a Tuesday night and be able to compete against a good team is good for our players. We played hard and gave effort the entire game.”
The Indians were led in scoring by Aaron Morgan with a team-high 14 points. Arron Goodman scored 13 points for Rock North, while Kyle McCloskey scored in twin digits with 10 points.
Savon Goodman – at 6-foot, 7-inches - led all scorers with 24 points and 18 rebounds.
Council Rock North will open its SOL National Conference season with a home game against William Tennent (1-1).

Panthers Caged
Quakertown (1-2) ventured north to play Easton (2-1) in a non-conference contest and suffered a 68-31 setback.
The Panthers – who were outscored 18-3 in the first period - were led in scoring by Corey Jorgensen with a game-high 15 points.
There were 12 players who scored for Easton with only one – Lincoln Holley – reaching double figures. Holley led Easton with 10 points.
Quakertown will begin SOL Continental Conference play this Friday with a game at Hatboro-Horsham (0-2).

Skins Lose to HGP
Neshaminy (0-3) is still in search of its first win as the Redskins dropped a low scoring affair to Holy Ghost Prep – 39-25.
Shaquel Vaughn led Neshaminy with a team-high eight points, while Luke Carrezola added seven points for the Skins.
Neshaminy will open its SOL National Conference schedule with a home game against Abington (2-0).
