#1 COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, #8 CHRISTOPHER DOCK 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-22)
The top-seeded Indians rolled to a sweep of the visiting Pioneers. Eric Van Thuyne (10 kills, six digs, three aces, one block, one assist) and Jason Yakimiv (10 kills, 15 digs, 2.5 blocks, one ace) led the way at the net. Setter Logan Fuglestad had 28 assists to go along with eight digs, 2.5 blocks and two kills. Defensively, Aaron Knotts (14 digs) and Alex Saraceno (12 digs) came up big. Also making contributions were Tommy Angelina (four kills, two digs), Sean Helmlinger (three kills, two digs, .5 blocks), Harry Wyatt (three kills, four digs, one block), Robby Ward (five digs, one ace, one assist) and Will DeSautelle (one kill, one block).
The Indians (17-2) will face the winner of Friday’s match between fourth-seeded Central Bucks West and fifth-seeded Central Bucks East in a district semifinal at William Tennent High School on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
#2 PENNSBURY 3, #10 AVON GROVE (25-13, 25-12, 25-16)
The Falcons made easy business of the visiting Red Devils, earning a sweep in Thursday’s second round match.
Mason Reilley led the Falcons at the net with 13 kills and a dazzling .867 hitting percentage. Sean Sweeney added 11 kills (.333) to go along with one ace and one dig. Setter Kevin Killoran dished off 31 assists and also had one ace, three digs and two blocks. Also making contributions were Kenny Hickman (three kills, one ace, three digs, six blocks), Brad Edwards (seven digs, four aces), James Greenland (three kills, one ace, eight digs), Brett Garretson (two kills, two blocks) and Charlie Bluestein (four digs, one ace).
Pennsbury will meet third-seeded Pennridge in a district semifinal match at William Tennent on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
#3 PENNRIDGE 3, #6 WILLIAM TENNENT 1 (25-12, 27-25, 23-25, 25-16)
In by far the most competitive match of the evening, the Rams defeated the Panthers in four sets. They cruised to a win in the opening set but then were extended to the limit in a 27-25 win in the second set. The Panthers rallied to win the next set, but the Rams closed it out in the fourth set.
Setter Jesse Smith had a busy night, dishing out 44 assists to go along with two kills and six digs. Ben Chinnici had a big night at the net, finishing with 22 kills as well as three aces. Josiah Friesen also had double-digit kills with 10 to go along with four digs, and Aaron Nelson had nine kills. Kevin Jones added five kills. Cross Edwards had two aces and six digs, and Austin Rush led the defense with 14 digs and two aces.
Pennridge (16-3) will face second-seeded Pennsbury at William Tennent on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
