Abington 10, Pennsbury 6
In a marquee matchup between two of the SOL’s premier squads, the Ghosts came away with the big win, opening up a 5-1 halftime lead and maintaining that lead throughout the second half.
Brian Gallagher and Matt Figeuroa led the Ghosts – both contributed three goals and one assist. Ryan Ambler added one goal and two assists, and Matt Lomady, Nick Pisko and Shane Dunn each had one goal.
The Falcons received two goals from Josh Caven. Ricky Jutkiewicz had one goal and two assists, and Calvin Hopkins, Evan Caterson (one assist) and Ryan McDonald each had one goal.
Abington goalie Travis O’Connor turned away 12 shots. Anthony Greco led the Ghosts’ defense with eight groundballs, and Evan Caterson had five.
Neshaminy 14, Harry S. Truman 4
Andrew McKenzie exploded for six goals to lead the Redskins to the win. Keenan Skeels contributed three goals and three assists while Shane Quinn had two goals and two assists. Connor Bishop had one goal and three assists while Jimmy Roessner (one assist) and Mike Pfender both added one goal. Austin Transue also had an assist.
The Redskins held a tenuous 2-1 lead at the end of one quarter but stretched that lead to 7-2 by halftime and then outscored the Tigers 5-0 in the third quarter.
Continental Conference
Souderton 8, North Penn 6
The Indians held off a third-quarter rally by the Knights to win their third straight game. Nick Judge’s groundball and goal with 7:10 remaining broke a 6-6 tie.
J.P. Carroll scored two goals and also had two assists while Tyler Macdougall added one goal and two assists. Bryan Ziegler scored two goals, and Matt Markow and Ridge Schultz each added a single goal.
Grant Nice had 13 saves in goal. Mike Tappen turned away 21 shots in a strong effort in goal for the Knights.
For the Knights, Chris Young scored a pair of goals, and Chris Anton (one assist), Dan Kohler, Adam Wreath and Heinig scored single goals.
Central Bucks West 10, Pennridge 7
Spencer Macquarrie contributed the hat trick while Nate Weiss (one assist) and Matt Adamski each added a pair of goals. Evan Gervais (one assist), Riley Kratzke and Johnny Kirchner each added single goals. Kratzke also had three assists, and Jack Firriolo had a pair of assists.
The Rams received a pair of goals from Eric Fernandez (one assist), James Marrero and Matt Brown (two assists). John Matz added one goal and two assists.
Jake Ross turned away 12 shots in goal for the Bucks while Pennridge’s Brian White had 13 saves.
Central Bucks East 11, Central Bucks South 1
The Patriots opened up a 2-0 lead at the end of one quarter and extended that lead to 7-0 by halftime on their way to the convincing win.
"The entire squad played this afternoon," coach Bruce Garcia said. "Groundballs determined the outcome - our players wanted groundballs today, and it showed."
East's Weston French led the way with eight groundballs.
Chris Vetter and Parker Self each scored three goals to lead the Patriots. Brandon Ament added a pair of goals, and McSherry, Matt Brodzik and Ethan Debuque added single goals. Brodzik and Connor McSherry each had a pair of assists while Harrison Holak and Self both had one assist.
CB South goalie Ryan Kelly turned away 23 shots in a busy afternoon while East's Holak had four saves and Nick Andris had one.
The Patriots return to action on Monday night when they will face Souderton at War Memorial Field at 7 p.m.
Hatboro-Horsham 11, Central Bucks South 4 (Thursday, April 14)
Jake Durkin scored three goals and added three assists to lead the Hatters. Jimmy Durkin added two goals and one assist while Nick Agostinelli and Kevin Sweeney also both added a pair of goals. Jimmy Murphy and Cam Wiercinski each scored one goal.
In goal for the Hatters, Marc Poust turned away 10 shots and Kyle Mullen had one save.
American Conference
Cheltenham 15, Norristown 14 (OT) (Thursday, April 14)
Sean Calhoun led the Eagles with five goals and two assists. Jake Naseef added three goals and two assists, and Justin Roccia also had three goals. Contributing single goals were Jake Harris (one assist), Kristain Angelucci and Eric Slyvester.
The Panthers were led by the five-goal, one-assist effort of Pat McCann.
Upper Dublin 9, Wissahickon 1
The Flying Cardinals jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Trojans, according to coach Anthony Gabriele, had their chances but couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.
Brooks Melvin scored the only goal of the game for the Trojans. Willy Beurey led the Flying Cardinals with four goals and one assist. Kyle Giordino added the hat trick, and Mike Rama and Liam Duke each had one goal.
Upper Moreland 14, Cheltenham 12
Ryan Christiansen contributed three goals and one assist to lead the Golden Bears while Talon Blickley also delivered the hat trick. Andrew Benner, Ellis Fatizzi and John Lance each scored two goals, and Steve Fleming and Austin Sgro both had single goals. Fatizzi also had two assists while Sgro and Brian Callahan each contributed one assist.
