WISSAHICKON 10, GARNET VALLEY 7

The Wissahickon boys lacrosse team traveled to #2 ranked and undefeated Garnet Valley (9-0) on Saturday. The Trojans – ranked 10th in the power rankings - came out very determined, taking a 3-2 lead after one quarter. The Trojans kept firing and led 7-4 at halftime.  At the end of three, it was 8-6 Trojans. At the final horn the scoreboard read Wissahickon 10 Garnet Valley 7.

“This was definitely a huge win for our program as they’re as good of a team as you’ll find in district one,” Wissahickon coach Matt Conway said. “We’ve been close in our games so far this season against really good competition like Springfield Delco and Conestoga but just couldn’t close those games out despite entering the fourth quarter with leads in both.

“It felt like in this game our senior leaders refused to let that happen again. Overall I was really impressed with how our guys kept their composure late in the game to pull out the win against a great team.”

The Trojans were led on offense by Jackson Intrieri with three goals and three assists. Intrieri's third goal proved to be the game-winner, putting the Trojans up 8-5. Dean Wolfe scored four goals for the Trojans, and Kyle Lehman added two goals. Sam Baker added one goal and Brody Meyers has two assists.

Matt Fritz controlled the faceoff circle going 14/21, and goalie Scott Pfeiffer was awesome all day long with a staggering 14 saves. Michael Licata, Ethan Glass, Quinn Fonash, Joey Connolly, EJ Schreiner, Sam Baker and Alex Solomon were tremendous on defense all day long.

The win upped the Trojans record to 7-3 on the season. More importantly the Trojans know they can play with anyone and are a humble confident bunch.

Wissahickon (7-3, 4-0 SOL) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday.
