Central Bucks East 7, Pennsbury 6 (OT)
In a battle of two of the SOL’s premier squads, Warren Kuhn scored an overtime goal to propel the Patriots to the dramatic win. It was the third goal of the day for the senior midfielder.
After the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie at the end of one quarter, the Patriots outscored the Falcons 3-1 in the second period to go on top 4-2 by halftime. They extended that lead to 6-2 before the Falcons staged a remarkable late-game rally.
With five minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Falcons’ offense came to life, scoring three unanswered goals to close out the frame and making it a 6-5 game. With 4:09 remaining in regulation, Sean Heilferty found Josh Caven for the equalizer.
Neither team was able to generate any serious offensive threats in the final minutes of regulation, setting the stage for overtime. After winning the face-off, East’s Warren Kuhn came up with a ground ball and found the back of the net with the game winner.
Also scoring for the Patriots was Matt Brodzik with two goals while Chris Vetter and Debuque both added single goals. Parker Self added two assists, and Ryan Whitney added one. While Brodzik’s senior leadership was key on offense, Wes French anchored East’s defense.
For the Falcons, Evan Caterson and Ricky Jutkiewicz each scored two goals while Andrew Probst and Josh Caven both added one goal. Heilferty and Calvin Hopkins each had an assist.
In goal, East’s Sean McSherry was credited with six saves while Pennsbury’s Drew Sweetland turned away six shots.
Council Rock North 10, Upper Merion 7
Tyler Shablin scored four goals to lead the Indians to the big win. Chris Gifford and Drew DiSpirto each had two points. Jack Ozaroff and Mark McDonald led the defense with McDonald making 13 saves in goal.
Allentown Central Catholic 9, Souderton 8
Souderton knotted the score 4-4 with a goal just before halftime, but ACC came back to outscore the Indians 5-4 in the second half to earn the win.
The Indians received the hat trick from J.P. Carroll and two goals from both Ridge Schultz and Tyler MacDougall (one assist). Bryan Ziegler also contributed a goal and an assist for Souderton (1-1).
Grant Nice turned away 16 shots in goal and was backed by strong defense from Kyle Dusselier and Josh Burke.
Lansdale Catholic 15, Norristown 6
Jake Naseef led the Eagles' attack with the hat trick. Frank Harris added one goal and two assists while Tyler Williams and Carson Lucard both contributed a goal and an assist.
Chestnut Hill Academy 9, Plymouth Whitemarsh 8 (3-29-11)
PW held a 13-5 advantage in face-offs in the contest. The Colonials led 4-3 at halftime and still led 6-5 before Chestnut Hill rallied to knot the score. Chestnut Hill took its first lead in the fourth quarter and then held on for the win.
Colin Joka led PW with four goals while Nick Swift and John Walker each added a pair. Swift also had four assists while Dylan Wixted had one. Tyler Haney had five ground balls to lead the Colonials while Corey Kelly had four.
