National Conference
Pennsbury 8, Council Rock North 5
Five different players scored for Pennsbury, with three of them tallying two goals apiece.
Evan Caterson, Calvin Hopkins and Ryan McDonald each hit the net twice, while Ricky Jutkiewicz and Andrew Probst tallied single goals. Josh Caven dished off four assists.
Dan Marr led the Falcons on defense with six groundballs and goalie Drew Sweetland made 16 saves (seven in the fourth quarter), mostly on outside shots, to ensure the win.
“We didn’t play our best lacrosse,” said Pennsbury coach Jamie Huber.
Senior captain Chris Gifford had a good game for the Indians, scoring a lone goal and an assist.
“He gives us everything he’s got,” said Rock coach Joe Kivlen.
Tyler Shablin also scored for Rock.
“He gave us an awesome effort,” said Kivlen. “He was all over the field.”
In the cage, Mark McDonald stopped nine shots.
“We’re getting there,” said Kivlen. “We have to be more consistent. Pennsbury is athletic and we had trouble clearing the ball.”
But each game Kivlen sees progress.
Abington 11, Neshaminy 3
The Ghosts solidified their hold on first place, which they earned last Friday with a 10-6 win over Pennsbury.
Abington bolted to a 10-2 lead at the half then didn’t score again until the final period.
Ryan Ambler led the Ghosts with three goals and five assists. Brian Gallagher was right behind with four goals and one assist. Matt Lomady scored twice and Nick Pisko (three assists) and Matt Figeuroa each notched a goal.
In goal, Travis O'Connor and Eric Goldsborough combined for seven saves.
 
For Neshaminy Alex McKenzie scored twice and Andrew Macdonald tallied once.
Neshaminy goalie Austin Marshall made 21 saves.
Continental Conference
Hatboro-Horsham 11, North Penn 2
The offense was firing on all cylinders and the defense stepped up strong for Hatboro.
Jake Durkin led the attack with three goals and an assist.
Coach John Banks lauded the play of Steve and Joe Palo, “who did a really nice job at the ‘X.’”
Defensively Tyler Gelhaus, Kyle Peters, Shane Wheeler and John Rose turned in great performances.
“Our defense played really strong,” said Banks. “North Penn has some good players, but tonight we put together four quarters.”
Central Bucks East 14, Souderton 1
The Patriots cruised by the short-handed Indians, who had a few good looks in the first quarter but couldn’t take advantage.
“They’re always a good team,” said Souderton coach Todd Pettit.
The Indians have been struggling with lack of depth, which showed Monday when they were down five players.
Grant Nice played well early and finished with 14 saves. JP Carroll scored Souderton’s lone goal.
Meanwhile for East, 10 different players contributed to the scoring with Matt Brodzik leading the way with three goals and an assist.
Parker Self chipped in two goals and four assists, while Chris Vetter scored two goals and an assist.
"The boys demonstrated all around solid play tonight, which led to the victory,” said East coach Bruce Garcia. “They did an outstanding job on ground balls."
Central Bucks West 8, Central Bucks South 4
The Bucks took a 4-0 lead at the half and hung on in the second.
Spencer Macquarrie and Nate Weiss scored a pair of goals apiece, while Jack Firriolo (assist), Matt Adamski, Evan Gervais (assist), Johnny Kirchner added single tallies for the Bucks.
Jake Ross had nine saves in the net.
American Conference
Plymouth Whitemarsh 14, Norristown 5
Coming off a huge 9-7 win last Friday over Upper Merion that catapulted the Colonials into first place, there was no letdown Monday.
PW soared to an 11-1 lead at the half and basically took the second half off in preparation for another key conference tilt against Upper Dublin on Tuesday.
The two teams haven’t met yet, but they have both beaten a common opponent in Upper Merion.
Colin Joka led all scorers with five goals and two assists. Andrew Cox chipped in four goals and an assist. Dylan Wixted added two goals and two assists, while John Walker (assist), PJ Cunningham (assist) and Drew Zucker all scored once.
Norristown had a pair of two-goal scorers in Jake Naseef and Jesse Prante with Tyler Williams adding a goal and an assist.
“We played well,” said PW coach Phil Chang. “We were trying to get ready and stay healthy for tomorrow.”
Upper Merion 16, Upper Moreland 6
The Vikings bolted to an 11-1 lead at the half, thanks in great part to a huge effort by goalie Conor Crowe, who, on one shot in the second quarter, dove across the goal mouth to snuff a backdoor shot.
For the game he had 10 stops.
“He had some pretty amazing saves,” said coach Brady McCormick.
Seven different players scored for the Vikings, led by Trevor Kupecky with one goal and nine assists. Luc Minnich and Wes McDowell each had four goals and one assist, Pat Vandergeest pumped in three goals, Nicky Dellace had two goals and an assist and Lorran Dacosta scored once.
“We did some things well,” said McCormick, “and got some good ball movement, but we were sloppy toward the end.”
Talon Blickley and Ryan Christensen (two assists) scored twice for Upper Moreland. Steve Fleming and Ellis Fatizzi scored one each.
Assists went to Brian Callahan and Nick Nolen (2).
In goal, Nick DeBalko made nine saves.
Wissahickon 12, Cheltenham 5
Brooks Melvin led the Trojans with three goals and two assists.
Luke Gomez pumped in three goals, and Tyler Crothers notched two along with an assist. Single goal scorers were Christian McCaffrey (assist), Josh Stollman, AJ Andersen and Beau Gomez.
Peter Carrozza stopped eight shots in goal for Wissahickon.
Brian Henstenburg led the Panthers with a hat trick, while Matt Schafer and Pat McCann added single goals.
 
In the cage, Will Tinkleman stopped 13 shots.
