By Alex Frazier

National Conference
Abington 4, Pennsbury 3 (OT)
This was one of the big upsets of the night. Pennsbury played down a man for 50 minutes of the contest. The Falcons held a 3-2 lead until Abington knotted the score with 30 seconds left in regulation. The Ghosts scored the game winner with 10 minutes left in the first overtime.

Council Rock North 4, Harry S Truman 1
Truman’s Rashard Gayle scored five minutes into the game, and the Tigers held on to the lead until the last 25 seconds of the half when Rock North’s Alec Neumann tied it up.
The Indians’ Derek Antonini netted the game winner one minute into the second half, before Chris Beal and Dalton Andrusko added insurance goals.
Rock keeper Christian Kiselica stopped three shots, while his Truman counterpart Kyle Katz saved seven shots.
William Tennent 1, Bensalem 0
The Panthers notched their first win of the season after losing three one-goal games. Justin Massaro scored the game winner. The Panthers fired off 22 shots.
“It was a one-sided game,” said Tennent coach Luke Gibson. “Bensalem did a good job defensively.”
Council Rock South 3, Neshaminy 1

Continental Conference
Central Bucks East 3, Pennridge 1
Miguel Diaz returned to action for the Patriots with a heavily padded cheekbone and led East with a pair of goals. His first came on a penalty kick and his last on a pass from Ben Marks.
Sandwiched in between was Eric Vare’s tally.
Dan Caya scored Pennridge’s lone goal from about 12 yards out.
East keeper Jacob Nesteruk stopped six shots, while the Rams’ Ryan Bailey came up with seven saves.
“We really played well,” said C.B. East coach Mike Gorni. “All four goals were legit.”
East is 2-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Continental.
Souderton 1, Hatboro-Horsham 0
Senior Jon Koniski scored with 50 seconds left in regulation from a Christian Benner pass. Tyler Afflerbach earned his third shutout. The Indians are now 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the league.

Central Bucks South 5, Quakertown 1
The Titans’ Keith Crews was a team wrecker as he scored four of the Titans’ five goals.

While South dominated the first half, Quakertown picked it up in the second with Eric Bahry’s tally.

Titan keeper Drew Sutcliffe stopped three shots.

C.B. South is now 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the Continental Conference.

North Penn 3, Central Bucks West 2 (OT)

Michael McGuire (Chris Davidson assist) scored with 5:35 remaining in the second overtime to give the Knights the win. Earlier in OT, the Bucks hit the crossbar on a shot.

“We were a little fortunate on that one,” North Penn coach Paul Duddy said. “I thought West played pretty well. It wasn’t our best game of the years, so we were fortunate to get a win.”

American Conference
Upper Moreland 3, Norristown 0
The Upper Moreland boys soccer team earned its first shutout victory of the regular season today behind the efforts of Kyle Walder and Tim Uvegas in goal.
“It was a good game,” said Upper Moreland coach Jack Knauss. “They held us off a little bit, but anything in our division I’ll take.”
Tommy Hays tallied UM’s first goal early in the first half off of a rebound shot by Tim DeCarolis. Later in the half, Tyler Foerst tucked away a loose ball into the back of the net putting the Bears up by two. And a few minutes later Hays put the game away by tallying his second goal on a cross from Menvekeh Daramay. From that point on, the Upper Moreland Bears rode their defense led by Kyle Lunch, Jon Baez, Nate Roberts and Carl Wambold.
Upper Moreland is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the American Conference with huge matchups waiting with Wissahickon on Wednesday and Upper Dublin on Friday.
“It’s a long season,” said Knauss. “We have to take one game at a time.”
Cheltenham 5, Upper Merion 1
Cheltenham went up 2-0 on Doug Roman’s great header off a corner and a left-footed blast by Martin Freeman.
The Vikings then stymied Cheltenham until freshman Christos Yiantsos scored a pair of insurance goals. Dan Marsden was relieved of his goalkeeping duties but still managed to score a goal as a field player.
“It was a nice result after starting 0-3,” said coach Nick Zegestowsky. “We’re looking to get back to .500 this week.”
Upper Dublin 3, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2
Upper Dublin came out on top of a very physical game.
But just barely.
With about seven minutes left, PW was awarded a penalty kick after a brouhaha, which cost the Cardinals their starting keeper and another player.
With the chance to tie it, the Colonials’ Kas Fazliu booted the PK over the crossbar, and the Cardinals escaped with a win.
“It could have been anybody’s game,” said UD coach Rick Schmidt. “We got lucky. PW is a big, physical team.”
Upper Dublin’s Brian Shim scored the game winner on a header at the far post following a corner kick.
Jared Pfeffer notched the first goal in the back-and-forth contest, while Dante Arnone notched the other.
