SOL Liberty/Freedom Crossovers

Springfield Twp 2, Abington 1 (OT)
Chase Rubincam scored six minutes into overtime, as Springfield bounced back from an early goal and stunned Abington on the road - a huge win after the Spartans lost to Cheltenham on Tuesday.
After Brian O’Neill put the Galloping Ghosts up three minutes into the game, Kayden Sowell tied it for Springfield in the 53rd minute, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Brian O’Neill (A), 3rd minute
Second Half -

Kayden Sowell (S) from Harry Bates, 53rd minute
First OT -
Chase Rubincam (S) from Ben Hubley, 86th minute
Springfield Twp coach Dan Meder on the win:
“Abington is a tough place to play. The game was back and forth. They controlled the game early, they scored early, they looked the better side early. We slowly worked our way back into the game and had our moments, and they certainly had their moments. They made our goalie - Owen Hastings - make some big saves.
“This is a great win. We were reeling after our loss to Cheltenham (2-1) in the league. Again, at their place in a tough game, so coming off that loss, it was important to try and get back on the winning side against a tough opponent. Abington is good.”
—The scoring: "They scored three minutes into the game, and then Kayden Sowell scored to tie it with 27 minutes left. Harry Bates headed it across the goal mouth, and Kayden headed it into the goal, so it was two headers in a row.
“About six minutes into the first overtime, we had a corner kick. Ben Hubley served the ball in, and Chase Rubincam made a great play and poked it in.”

—Props: “It was a team effort. We had a lot of guys play really well for us. Our back line played great. Brendan Noonan, a sophomore, played great. Chase Rubincam, Luke Sharpe, Igor Havel, they all played great for us back there. Everybody we rotated in. Harry Bates did a great job holding the ball up for us and letting us get into it. (Goalkeeper) Owen Hastings kept us in it. He played great. It was a great team win."
Next up: Springfield (7-1-1, 3-1-1 SOL) plays at CB East on Monday. Abington (6-2-1, 4-0-1) plays at unbeaten Council Rock North on Monday. The Spartans are fourth in the latest District 1 4A power rankings, and Abington is 11th.
Springfield 0 1 1 - 2
Abington 1 0 0 - 1

Cheltenham 3, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2
After a scoreless first half, Cheltenham won a back-and-forth battle to survive a scare against PW in a crossover game.
Billy Fishman broke a 2-2 tie with the game-winning goal late.
Scoring Summary
First Half – No score
Second Half -
Own Goal (C)
Chamar Blanchard (C)
PW goal
PW goal
Billy Fishman (C)
Cheltenham coach Bill Tonkin on the win:
“Again, we played down to the level of our opponent. We let them hang around and gain confidence and it turned into a struggle for us.  We were fortunate to come out with a win. PW played hard and fought to the end, so credit to them.”
The scoring: “It was 0-0 at halftime. We scored about 15 minutes into the second half. Zack Rosser sent a free kick into the box, which their defender kicked into their own net. We scored again at about 20 mins into the second half.  PW played a goal kick short, and their defender gave the ball right to Chamar Blanchard who took a touch and put the ball in the net.
“They fought back and tied the game. We didn’t clear two balls that they sent into the box, and there were scrambles in front of the net that they put in.  We have to do better there with clearing the ball away. We scored the winning goal off a counter that Billy Fishman sent into the net after it bounced around in the box a little bit.  It was an ugly win, but we will take it and move on and get focused on having a good week starting Monday.”
Next up: Cheltenham (5-2-1, 2-2-1 SOL) plays at Pennridge on Monday. PW (0-9, 0-5) plays at Neshaminy.
Cheltenham 0 3 - 3
Plymouth Whitemarsh 0 2 - 2

Upper Dublin 2, Lower Moreland 0
Brady Hillman and Adriano Roman scored six minutes apart in the second half as Upper Dublin pulled away to shut out Lower Moreland in a crossover game on Thursday.

Reilly McLaughlin picked up an assist in the game.
Scoring Summary
Second Half -
Brady Hillman (UD) 54th minute (1-0)
Adriano Roman (UD) from Reilly McLaughlin 60th minute (2-0)
Coach Noah Johnson on the game: "Halftime it was 0-0. It was a pretty good game up to halftime. Neither team could find the back of the net. Second half came around, and we were able to score two goals within six minutes of each other.
"Honestly, I was happy because it's been a rough year for us. Whether it's injuries, whether it's people getting sick, a lot of things are going on behind the scenes, but it's nice for the boys to be able to band together and fight to get wins that seem to get harder and harder as the season goes on. I was mostly pleased that we never stopped fighting, even though at moments it was like,
'Coach, we don't have the energy to do this right now.'
"At halftime, it was really nice to be able to sit down and tell them, 'Hey, the game is winnable, it's definitely doable. Someone is going to score, and whoever scores is probably going to win the game.' It was just one of those games - you could tell both teams were beat up a little bit, kind of tired. We're halfway through the season now, and I was just happy to see after our halftime talk, we were able to go out and find the back of the net and able to do it again for the second time to get a win. It's always nice heading into the weekend with a win."
--The scoring: "Brady Hillman scored a goal off a corner kick. A ball was bouncing around in the box. Lower Moreland's keeper couldn't hold onto the ball, and Brady was able to quickly get his foot on the ball and tap the ball into the net to make it 1-0.
"Then our freshman scored. Reilly McLaughlin was able to get a ball at his feet midfield, pick his head up and play a ball through their back line to Adriano's feet. Adriano one-on-one with the goalie on a breakaway was able to guide and hit a chip shot over the keeper and put us up 2-0 in the 60th minute."
--Props: "My entire team, everyone did a very good job, especially with all the injuries and all the sicknesses and changing formations and moving people around. I truly do believe that my entire team - all the boys played very well and did a very good job of being mature and not losing their heads and being frustrated when we weren't scoring on easy opportunities, and whenever they were having their opportunities, we didn't let that faze us much, and we able to battle our way out of that and figure it out on the field."
Next up: Upper Dublin (7-1-1, 4-0-1 SOL) plays at Council Rock South on Monday afternoon. Lower Moreland (5-3-2, 5-3-2) has a nonleague game against Delco Christian on Friday.
Upper Dublin 0 2 - 2
Lower Moreland 0 0 – 0

Wissahickon 4, Upper Moreland 2
Andrew Gajan scored twice in the last six minutes to get past Upper Moreland in a non-league crossover game.
The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to watch the Golden Bears rally to knot the score with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. That set the stage for Gajan’s late-game heroics.
Also for the Trojans, Jofi Contreras, Will Fath, Ryan Dowdy and Jackson Horvat had assists. Michael Maltlin recorded three saves in goal.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Athan Zografakis (W), 22nd minute
Justin Reynoso (W), 28th minute
Max Hubbard (UM), 35th minute
Second Half -
William Rosenbaum (UM), 70th minute
Andrew Gajan (W), 74th minute

Andrew Gajan (W), 80th minute
Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm on the win:
"Upper Moreland responded well, going two goals behind, (and then) scoring their first five minutes before halftime. The second half, we created one or two chances but were quiet, and Upper Moreland took the initiative and deservedly tied the game with 10 minutes to go. With five minutes left, a good move down the right and a great cross from Jackson Horvat created the opportunity for Andrew Gajan to score the winning goal. Andrew added an insurance goal in the last minute.”
Next up: Wissahickon (5-3, 2-2 SOL) plays at Bensalem on Monday. Upper Moreland (4-5, 1-4) plays at North Penn on Monday.
UM 1 1 - 2
Wissahickon 2 2 -4

New Hope-Solebury 4, Quakertown 0
Aramis Shire, Joe Picone and Luca Tersigni got New Hope off to a quick start in this one, as the three were responsible for all four of the Lions’ goals as they blanked Quakertown on the road Thursday night.
Shire scored three of the goals, finding the net in the 10th, 21st and 49th minutes. Picone had a goal in the 16h minute and also added an assist. Tersigni dished out three assists.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Aramis Shire (NHS) from Luca Tersigni, 10th minute
Joe Picone (NHS) from Luca Tersigni, 16th minute
Aramis Shire (NHS) from Joe Picone, 21st minute
Second Half -
Aramis Shire (NHS) from Luca Tersigni, 49th minute
New Hope coach Chris Van Pelt on the win:
“Great overall performance and a good way to end the week. The guys that came in off the bench played very well and made sure we maintained our level of play and work rate. A lot of guys got looks tonight, which is always nice, and we were able to rest some guys before a tough week coming up.”
Next up: New Hope (8-2) plays at Souderton on Monday. Quakertown (2-6-1) plays at Harry S. Truman.
New Hope-Solebury 3 1 - 4
Quakertown 0 0 - 0

Hatboro-Horsham 1, William Tennent 0 (OT)
After 80 minutes of scoreless soccer in regulation, it didn’t take Hatboro-Horsham long to grab this one in overtime as Logan Gisondi scored in the 81st minute – 14 seconds into OT - to give the Hatters the win on Thursday night.
Scoring Summary
First OT -
Logan Gisondi (HH) from Miller Kahmar, 81st minute
Hatboro-Horsham coach Kyle McGrath on the win:
“It was a pretty good game overall. We created quite a few chances. Their goalkeeper, Jason Brandt, played well. He saved a penalty kick in the second half to keep it tied. We just weren’t able to finish that opportunity to get us to 1-0, so credit to William Tennent for defending the way they did and clearing some balls off the line. They did a very good job tonight. Angelo (Albanese) has those guys playing well.
“I’m proud of my guys defensively, because late in the second half, they had a flurry of long throw-ins and restarts, and we were able to defend them and keep a clean sheet and then win it rather quickly in overtime. I’m happy to get into a win going into the weekend before a busy week next week."
—The game-winner: “We started overtime with the ball. Our outside back, Louis Matullo, played a ball into the center of the field. It was actually a little bit of a misplaced pass, but Miller Kahmar did a good job of recovering it, and he played a tricky through ball to Logan Gisondi, who took a really good first touch and then was able to finish it to the far post 14 seconds into overtime. So, we got out there quickly with the win.”
—Props: “My back four - Luke Weiss, Christian Patelmo, Will Fisher and Louis Matullo - rebounded from not a great performance on Tuesday (in a 3-0 loss to Wissahickon), getting the shutout which was important. They did a good job on set pieces and counterattacks, putting out fires and making sure that things were easy for our goalkeeper tonight."
Next up: H-H (4-4, 2-3 SOL) plays at Pennsbury on Monday. Tennent (1-7-2, 1-2-2) plays at CB West on Monday.
H-H 0 0 1 - 1
WT 0 0 0 - 0

SOL Colonial/Patriot Crossovers

Council Rock North 1, Central Bucks East 0
Chase Murphy scored late in the first half for the game’s only goal as unbeaten Council Rock North picked up a big win in a non-league crossover game against CB East on Thursday.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Chase Murphy (CRN)
CR North assistant coach Andrew Roberto on the game:
"It was another nail biter. The game was back and forth the whole game. It was a very good game. They played to their strengths. They had a lot of restarts, a lot of free kicks. No. 34 for CB East (Matthew Walloff) had a big game for them.
"We had more chances than them, but they definitely gave us a run for the money. Not a lot of shots on target today for us. We had to make them count when we could. Luckily, Chase bailed us out. I feel like time after time we're saying the same thing.  We've got to put these teams away. It's always 1-0 and 2-1. It's a lot of close games. Today's game was relatively quiet on the offensive end. It definitely gets us playoff ready."
--The goal: "Chase Murphy had a left-footed shot from inside the box about 30 minutes in. The ball was in the scrum, it came out, and it was a nice left-footed shot right over the keeper."
--Props: "For us, it was all about the defense today. Darek Miller, Dominic Czachor and Jasper Ring, were phenomenal along with (goalkeeper) Calvin Hopkins. A lot of balls were served in the box for him that Calvin had to jump up and get."
Next up: CR North (9-0-1, 4-0-1 SOL) hosts Abington on Monday. CB East (5-4, 3-2) hosts Springfield on Monday.
Central Bucks East      0-0   0
Council Rock North      1-0   1

Pennridge 2, Neshaminy 2 (OT)
Logan Lamaina scored the tying goal in the second half, as Pennridge rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn the tie. Neither team could pick up the game-winner in overtime.
AJ Kollie connected on a penalty kick in the first minute of the game for Neshaminy, and six minutes later, Rezi Tebidze put a ball in the box that deflected off a Pennridge defender for an own goal and a 2-0 Neshaminy advantage.
Sal D’Aquino converted a penalty kick late in the first half to put Pennridge on the scoreboard.
Scoring Summary

First Half -
AJ Kollie (N) penalty kick, 1st minute
Rezi Tebidze (N) 7th minute
Sal D’Aquino (P), penalty kick, 40th minute

Second Half -
Logan Lamaina (P)
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski on the game:
“Neshaminy came out with a lot of energy and drew a PK about a minute into the game. About five minutes later, we had an unfortunate deflection off a set piece that resulted in an own goal. It was obviously a difficult start to the game.
“After a really physical first half, we broke through and earned a penalty with about two minutes left in the first half. Sal D’Aquino buried it. The second half remained a really physical battle, and we pushed a lot of numbers forward and had a lot of pressure to end the game.
“Off a throw-in, Sal D’Aquino was able to lay a ball off to Logan Lamaina, who curled it upper 90, far post. It was a great finish. Both teams had opportunities in OT, but I think it was a fair result for both teams.”

Neshaminy coach Tom Foley on the game:
"AJ Kollie scored a penalty kick in the first minute. Rezi Tebidze put a ball into the box, and it deflected off one of the Pennridge kids into the goal for an on goal, so we got a 2-0 lead, which was probably the worst thing for us in the first seven minutes. I think we thought it was going to be easy. We over complicated the game. We started dribbling way, way too much, and it cost us. We got ourselves into some bad situations. We lost the ball a ton, and we didn't play intelligent soccer after we got up 2-0.
"We need to do better. Their goals were effort goals on their part. Credit to them. They got on the end of a free kick, and they got taken down for a PK with 40 seconds left in the first half to make it 2-1. And then with probably under two minutes in the second half, a long throw ping-ponged around. They got on the end of it and put it in the upper 90. We just have to have someone willing to take a ball off the chest, the leg, whatever and get balls out. Credit to Pennridge - they didn't quit.
"I can't fault our effort. We gave a solid effort, but we just didn't play intelligent soccer. We'll figure it out."
Next up: Pennridge (2-5-2, 1-3-1 SOL) hosts Cheltenham on Monday night. Neshaminy (5-2-2, 4-1-0) hosts Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday.
Pennridge 1 1 0 - 2
Neshaminy 2 0 0 - 2

Central Bucks West 1, Pennsbury 1 (2 OT)
Cole Barrett scored in the 79th minute to force overtime and eventually the 1-1 tie with Pennsbury in a non-league crossover battle on Thursday.
It was the third straight overtime game for the Bucks and their second straight tie.
Scoring Summary
Second Half -
Cole Barrett, 79th minute
CB West coach John Adair about the game:
“After a third straight overtime game in less than a week, I’m incredibly proud of the effort these guys have put in more than anything. They continue to respond to adversity in such a positive manner that makes me proud to be their coach.
“We probably showed a bit of fatigue early on today and went behind in the first few minutes. From that point on, I thought we did a much better job of controlling things and getting on the front foot.
“In overtime, we were close to ending it a couple of times and just lacked the finishing touch. Regardless of the result, it truly feels like the boys have turned a corner with their performances.”
–Props: It’s really easy to find someone new to highlight every game, but probably to a fault, Harrison Brownlow could never get enough recognition. The kid played 100 minutes in three consecutive games, captains the team, always leads by example, and is a player that I’ll always feel fortunate to have had the chance to work with.
“With that said, Alex Abbasi, who is typically our back-up goalkeeper, deserves a huge shoutout for his first varsity start and minutes. He was such a calming presence on the game and deserves a world of credit, especially in that position.”
Next up: CB West (1-5-3, 0-4-1 SOL) hosts William Tennent on Monday night.  Pennsbury (3-5-1, 2-3-0) hosts Hatboro-Horsham on Monday afternoon.
CB West 0 1 0 - 1
Pennsbury 1 0 0 - 1

Central Bucks South 3, Council Rock South 0
Anthony Bice scored a goal in the first half and then assisted on two more in the second half as SOL Colonial leading CB South rolled past CR South on Thursday night.
Brennan Franklin assisted on Bice’s goal. In the second half, Franklin and Evan Jaskelewicz both scored off of Bice assists.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Anthony Bice (CBS) from Brennan Franklin
Second Half -
Brennan Franklin (CBS) from Anthony Bice
Evan Jaskelewicz (CBS) from Anthony Bice
CB South coach Ed Brnardic on the game: “It was a beautiful night to play soccer.  The weather was perfect, and it was a nice game atmosphere at Council Rock South’s stadium.  The game started with Council Rock South on the front foot, but as the game progressed, we were able to start to take control and create a few chances.  We went into halftime with a 1-0 lead after a beautiful play by Brennan Franklin, and we came out determined to score a second one instead of sitting back trying to defend.  It was a long-distance effort from Brennan Franklin that doubled our lead and shortly after that we sent Evan Jaskelewicz one on one with the CR South goalie.  Evan made a great move, scoring our third of the game.”
–Props: “Tonight, Brennan Franklin really stepped up to lead us to a nice road win. In the first half, he intercepted a pass which he immediately connected with Evan Jaskelewicz and got the ball back breaking down the wing before sending a beautiful left-footed pass across the 18-yard box that found Anthony making a hard run into the box for the first goal of the game.  Then in the second half, Brennan scored the second goal of the game.  Brennan works really hard in the middle of the field for us every game, winning tackles and distributing the ball to his teammates, so it was great to see him rewarded with his first goal of the season.
“On the other end of the field, Pat VanLuvanee was super yet again.  He was exceptional on corner kicks, he made a great diving save in the first half, and he managed possession for us building out of the back.
“And for Council Rock South, give their goalkeeper, Andrew Freeman, credit.  We worked hard to win some corner kicks, but we were never able to convert any of them because every time Andrew Freeman came out to make a play on the ball.  He did a nice job stopping us.”
CR South coach Alan Nicholl: It was the closest 3-0 game I’ve ever been part of. CBS took the lead after 10 minutes against the run of play.  Momentum shifted with that goal, and CBS took control of midfield, and kept us on our toes.  They're a very good team, use the field well, technically sound, and excellent team speed. CB South scored another two goals with less than 10 minutes to play, but we were very much in it up to that point. But after 80 minutes, I felt the 3-0 scoreline flattered CBS.
“I'm very happy with our performance tonight.  We showed great belief and spirit. Anthony Abreu, George Simon, and Owen Lubieski were particularly brave with their performance.

Next up: CB South (9-0) travels to Germantown Academy on Friday. CR South (3-4-2) hosts Upper Dublin on Monday.
CB South 1 2 – 3
