SOL Liberty Division

Upper Dublin 2, Wissahickon 1
Corey Abramson had a big two-minute stretch.
Off assists from Jackson Bryan in the 48th minute and Chase Rappaport in the 50th minute, Abramson scored back-to-back goals and helped Upper Dublin overcome a 1-0 deficit in the second half to post a 2-1 win over visiting Wissahickon in Liberty Division play.
William Fath scored for the Trojans earlier in the half.
Scoring Summary
Second half -
William Fath (W) from Lex Agou
Corey Abramson (UD) from Jackson Bryan 48th minute
Corey Abramson (UD) from Chase Rappaport 50th minute
Upper Dublin coach Noah Johnson on the game:
“It was 0-0 at the half. We had a couple of opportunities, but we could not find the back of the net. I think it’s mostly from fatigue, but even through fatigue, we still created a lot of opportunities and just couldn’t put them in the back of the net unfortunately.”
The scoring: “At the start of the second half, we were doing really well. Just made a simple mistake, and Wissahickon was able to drive a ball into the box that we made a save originally and then the ball bounced back out to William (Fath), and he just smashed a ball at Anthony (Ginaldi). Anthony made the save, but it was too hard for him to push it anywhere, and it floated into the back of the net.
“Once again, it was nice to see us not look around in confusion or start to argue or panic or anything like that but to just know that, ‘Okay, we’ve been here before. We can do it again.’
“We responded right away. We scored in the 48th minute and the 50th minute as well. Jackson Bryan played a ball in to Corey (Abramson), and Corey was able to tap it past the keeper and beat him on his far post. Two minutes later, Chase (Rappaport) was able to find Corey, who was able to smash it onto the back post past the keeper to put us up 2-1.”
Props: “I was pleased with everyone, but the main person I’m pleased with was Dilan Plaku, Dominick’s little brother. It was nice to see the side of Dilon just the same way his brother was the last two years playing for us when he stepped up big. Dilan hasn’t gotten much playing time at all this year, but to be able to answer when his name is called and to come in for us when we absolutely just didn’t have any more gas in the tank at all, he was definitely a difference maker today, helping us get by Wissahickon and helping us stop the losing streak that we had going on right now.”
Next up: Upper Dublin (8-3-1, 5-0-1 SOL) plays at Springfield on Tuesday.
Wissahickon (6-5, 2-3 SOL) is at CB West on Monday night.
Wissahickon 0 1 - 1

Second Half -
Logan Gisondi (HH) Penalty kick
Brandon Murataj (A) Penalty kick
Jazafith Vasquez (A)
Abington coach Randy Garber on the game:  “It was a very sloppy game as far as the conditions. Liam Malinowski scored very early in the game in the first two minutes, and Owen Gesing scored maybe 10 minutes later; It was 2-0 right off the bat. Third goal came before the half. Brady Hartman had the goal, and it was 3-0 at halftime.
They scored in the beginning of the second half then it became 3-1.  The fourth goal was Brandon Murataj. Brady Hartman got tripped in the box, and Brandon had a penalty kick. Jazafith Vasquez scored the fifth goal, and everyone got to play."
—Props: “Our defense played well. Dan Oliveira played extremely well. Nicky Gray had another outstanding game. My sophomore Sean Westmoreland was outstanding once again. and in the midfield, Owen Gesing, who scored our second goal, is a sophomore that plays every minute."
Next up: Abington (8-2-2, 5-0-1 SOL) hosts St. Joseph’s Prep on Monday night.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 1, Quakertown 0
Freshman Finn Lafferty scored the first goal of his varsity career midway through the second half, as Plymouth Whitemarsh picked up its first win of the season, a shutout of Quakertown to avenge a previous loss to the Panthers.
Scoring Summary
Second Half -
Finn Lafferty (PW) from Ian Kanze, 61st minute
PW coach Cory Lutz on the win:
“In our training sessions leading up to the game today against Quakertown, one of the things we hoped to accomplish was to push our outside backs forward into the attack and attempt to exploit space in the wide areas. I thought our team did a nice job switching the point of attack and utilizing the space on the outside.’
–The goal: “With 20:10 remaining in the second half, Senior Ian Kanze was able to drive down the left side and put a nice shot on frame, forcing a save from the keeper. Freshman Finn Lafferty crashed the goal from the far side and was able to find the net for the first goal of his career. He’s been fighting against guys four years older than him all season, we were all thrilled that his first goal was a game winner.”
--Props: “Our right back, senior Andrew Daoud, did an excellent job of getting forward and was influential in the win. Senior midfielder Myles Kaye was a focal point in helping us maintain possession and distribute effectively. Additionally, senior center forward Dan Hurst did a great job of both holding up play and running the channels, getting in behind the defense.
“Defensively, we did a nice job containing any attacking threats and limited Quakertown to a few opportunities. Quakertown had a corner kick with about four minutes left in the game. Late goals and set pieces have plagued us all year, so when senior goalkeeper Logan Brock came out to grab and secure the cross, we all felt a collective sigh of relief. Logan was big for us today in securing the shutout and win.”
Next up: PW (1-11, 1-5 SOL) hosts Norristown on Monday.
Quakertown (2-9-1, 1-4 SOL) hosts Wissahickon on Oct. 5.
Quakertown 0 0 - 0
PW 0 1 - 1

SOL Patriot Division

Neshaminy 2, Bensalem 0
Zach Hargraves scored off an AJ Kollie assist just before halftime, and that was the catalyst as Neshaminy added a second goal in the second half to shut out Bensalem in Patriot Division action on Friday.
Kollie assisted on Dylan Reheil’s goal in the 55th minute.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Zach Hargraves (N) from AJ Kollie 39th minute
Second Half -
Dylan Reheil (N) from AJ Kollie in the 55th minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley on the win: “We played a really strong game today. It was wet, and Bensalem’s field is narrow, but it’s plush, and it played really well. We were able to move the ball around really effectively. We got things wide, we created a lot of chances, but it looked like it might be one of those days. We went in twice, and their goalkeeper made two really outstanding saves.”
--The scoring: “In the last minute of the first half, AJ Kollie knocked the ball diagonally to Zach Hargraves, who was a little bit out of his shooting range, so he went to cross it, but it caught the goaltender cheating for a cross, and he kind of had him leaning toward crossing it, and he shot it in the inside post, and it went off his hand and in. That was a good way to end the first half. We definitely deserved the goal the way we were playing, but it was nice to see Zach put us up 1-0 at halftime.
“A lot of the same in the second half. We were knocking the ball around really well and created some chances. AJ slotted Dylan Reheil through their backs, and he went in on the goalie. It was a real composed finish. He tucked it to the near post as the goalie was coming out on him, so it was a really nice finish that put us up 2-0. We created a lot of chances after that. We just couldn’t hit the target. We saw the game out really well. It was a complete win for the group today.”
—Props: “The back line was really solid today. We made a move - we moved Matt Diamond who was playing forward for us to the right back, and he did a superb job today. He’s played there before. We were looking for someone to solidify the back, and he did a tremendous job back there today. No one really got (past) him. With Mark (Andreyeu) and Brian (Birmingham) in the back controlling the middle, we’re a really difficult defense now. He did a really good job today.
“I thought our midfielders - Brody Collins, Christos Vasilarikos and Damien Castro - did a tremendous job just clogging everything up. They limited any kind of buildup that Bensalem had and did an excellent job today.”
—The schedule: “We’ve played three games in a week three times this year, which is a lot of soccer. We don’t get much time to recover. We play Wood on Monday, and then we’re off for a week. The Jewish holiday came at a good time this year. That week break is going to be a nice week for us to get healed up and get some of the residual soreness away and finish up the last three games."
Next up: Neshaminy (8-2-2, 5-1 SOL) plays at Archbishop Wood in a nonleague game Monday.
Bensalem (4-7-1, 2-4 SOL) plays at Abington on Tuesday.
Neshaminy 1 1 - 2
Bensalem 0 0 - 0

Council Rock North 7, Harry S. Truman 3
Zayd Najimi scored four goals as CR North outlasted a spirited effort from Truman on the way to the SOL Patriot win for the division-leading Indians.
Najimi gave the Indians a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest, but Truman answered with back-to-back goals by Joseph Montoya and Juan Ramirez to go into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
The Indians reeled off six straight goals in the second half before Truman’s Angel Pax scored late in the contest.
Landon Lentz, Logan Adams and Zach Vigrass also scored for CR North.
Scoring Summary
First half -
Zayd Najimi (CRN) from Logan Adams
Joseph Montoya (HST)
Juan Ramirez (HST)
Second Half -
Landon Lentz (CRN) on a through ball from Jasper Ring
Zayd Najimi (CRN)
Logan Adams (CRN) from James Reynolds
Zayd Najimi (CRN) from Logan Adams
Zach Vigrass (CRN)
Zayd Najimi (CRN) from Harry  Kehl
Angel Paz (HST)
Council Rock North assistant coach Brian Hoffman on the game:
“It was an adventure, one that was not necessary but an adventure nonetheless.
“We’re looking forward to a week of no games next week due to the Jewish holiday, which will allow us to rest up and get some of our guys a little more healthy. We should have Windsor Varady returning after being injured in the preseason.”
–The first half: “We scored first about 10 minutes in and that was Zayd Najimi assisted by Logan Adams. Then (Joseph Montoya) scored for Truman – he played a ball into the middle, beat one man, and he had a  beautiful shot. It was almost like my goaltender jumped. He thought it was going over, and he brought his hand down, and the ball just dipped. It was a rip from probably about 24-25 yards out.
“About five minutes later, Truman had a corner kick, and their kid (Juan Ramirez) crept up to the corner of the 18, and nobody from my team decided to go out and mark him. It’s a rainy, wet day. He had a one-time strike to the near post, and my man that was on the near post - it deflected off his foot right into the top of the net. It was on frame, and we’re down 2-1.
“We get to halftime. We discussed that you’re not to take teams lightly. We’re coming off a two-game losing streak. This is a winnable game for us. We beat them thoroughly the first time we played them, and we have to execute. We can’t - for lack of a better term - do stupid things like take extra touches, etc. I guess some of that set in because then they started playing significantly better."
Next up: CR North (10-2-1, 5-0-1 SOL) is off until a Patriot Division road game at Truman on Oct. 8.
Truman (1-11, 0-6 SOL) next plays at CR South on Oct. 10.
CR North 1 6 - 7
Truman  2 1 - 3

Council Rock South 3, Pennsbury 0
Reid Vandemark scored twice in the second half as Council Rock South broke open a scoreless tie at halftime and ended up blanking Pennsbury in Patriot Division play Friday.
Anthony Abreu also scored for the Golden Hawks.
Scoring Summary
Second Half -
Reid Vandemark (CRS) from Ronan Harding
Reid Vandemark (CRS) from George Simon
Anthony Abreu (CRS) from Nodari Shinjiashvilli
CR South coach Alan Nicholl on the win: “The difference today was we found the back of the net, but Tom Stoddart has his group playing a very attractive brand of football.  They just couldn’t make it count on the scoreboard. I’d really like not to have to see them a third time.
“It was a tighter game than the 3-0 scoreline might look.  Pennsbury plays a very tidy game, playing a lot of 1- and 2-touch football through the midfield and definitely kept us uncomfortable throughout.”
--The scoring: “It was a very even first half with a 0-0 scoreline showing very little between the two teams.  Reid Vandemark (Ronan Harding) broke the deadlock about 12 minutes into the second half and Reid scored his second 10 minutes later when George Simon broke through the defense and squared for Reid to tap into the empty net.  It was a product of very hard work and unselfish play from Reid and George to complete the move and give us some breathing room.
“The goal of the season came with five minutes left when Nodari Shinjiashvilli found Anthony Abreu about 20 yards out and Anthony uncorked an absolute screamer to complete the scoring.
--Props: “Reid (Vandemark) is coming back from injury, I was very happy with him getting his brace, and our goalkeeper (Andrew Freeman) and backline (Owen Lubieski, Tim Grabowski, Farid Ganiyev, and Diego Soto) securing the clean sheet.”
Next up:  CR South (6-4-2, 3-2-1 SOL) plays at Hatboro-Horsham on Monday.
Pennsbury (4-7-1, 2-4 SOL) hosts Cheltenham on Monday.
CR South 0 3 - 3
Pennsbury 0 0 - 0

AJ Pisoni scored a second-half goal off an assist from Zach Vaszily.
Damian Perkowski scored for the Rams.
Scoring Summary
First Half -
Cam Taylor (S)
Second Half -
AJ Pisoni (S) from Zach Vaszily
Damian Perkowski (P)
Souderton coach Frank DeMas on the win: “The game was a tad sloppy with the rain, but (we) battled really well, tried to play, kept the ball when possible and created a number of great chances.
“Pennridge fought hard and played a great game. Aaron (Rapsinski) had them prepped well and very organized.”
–Props: “The center mids were outstanding today. Shoutouts to (Liam) Shaw, (Drew) Kerns and Vaszily.”
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski: “We didn’t play a very good first half. Honestly, we were a little lucky to only be down one goal. Their goal was off a nice free kick just outside of the box.
“We played much better in the second half but gave up a tough goal with about four minutes left in the half off a free kick.
–The goal: “We rebounded quickly (after Souderton went up 2-0) and were able to score off a corner kick. Damian Perkowski buried a ball that was partially cleared with two-and-a-half minutes left in the game.
“Our energy in the second half was much better. We need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot with mental lapses, and we’ll start getting results. But it has to happen ASAP or we’ll be missing out on playoffs again.”
--Props: “We brought Damian Perkowski and Sam Turco up from JV to bring a spark to the team and they definitely delivered.”
