SOL Boys' Volleyball District Wrap (5-18-21)

No 9 Abington 3, No. 8 Bensalem 0 (25-22, 25-19, 27-25)

The Ghosts pulled off an impressive road win in a hard fought opening round match. They mounted an impressive comeback in the third set, coming back from down 19-24 to win the set 27-25.

Leo Presta had 24 assists setting to Sam Miller (13 kills), Zach Miller (4 kills), Myles Winegrad (4 kills), Sebastian Skenderi (5 kills) and Bryce Lexow (7 kills). Sebastian Skenderi added six blocks and Bryce Lexow had three blocks. Sean Dougherty had 35 digs on the night. With his 31st dig, he recorded his 1,000 dig of his career.

For the Owls, Dylan Young returned from an injury and, according to coach Tim Linehan, gutted out nine kills on a badly sprained ankle. Om Patel had a strong game on the right side with nine kills. Tyler Hoang added seven kills and one ace. Adam Nevrotski (five kills, two blocks) and Luis Rodriguez (four kills, one block) played well out of the middle. Dhruv Patel had 32 assists, and Harsh Shah had 16 digs for the Owls.

The Ghosts will take on Council Rock North Thursday at Council Rock.

 

No. 7 William Tennent 3, No. 10 Central Bucks West 1 (26-24, 20-25, 25-22, 25-17)

The Panthers earned a date with second seeded Upper Dublin in Thursday’s second round, thanks to their hard fought 3-1 win over the visiting Bucks.

Mike Carr (11 kills, eight digs), Jay Layer (eight kills, one ace, eight digs), Jack Steilen (seven kills, five blocks) and Kirby Mooney (four kills, one block) took care of business at the net. Cody Keeny (13 digs) and Ben Weir (five digs, one kill) anchored the defense. Setter Paul Nedeoglo handed out 33 assists to go along with six digs, four kills and two aces.
