Pennridge & Pennsbury were winners and will meet in Thursday’s District 1 3A title game at Upper Dublin HS.
District 1 3A semifinals
#2 PENNRIDGE 3, #6 UNIONVILLE 1 (14-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19)
The Rams are back in familiar territory, advancing to their program’s fourth District 1 3A title game in as many years.
It’s actually bigger news when the Rams – who’ve been in 11 of the last 15 district championship games – don’t make it to the final than when they do, which is a tribute to the elite level the program has attained under coach Dave Childs.
Tuesday’s match at William Tennent started on a bit of a shaky note in the opening set that Unionville won by a decisive margin, but the Rams recuperate quite nicely to win the next three.
“We were not sharp game one, and they took advantage of it,” Childs said. “Unionville played well.
“Our blocking picked us up, and we made some timely plays in the next three sets.”
Setter Evan Jalosinski spent the match spreading the ball around to the Rams’ strong stable of hitters, dishing off 46 assists to go along with seven digs.
Junior Bryce Ammon led the Rams’ attack with 17 kills and also had eight digs. Logan Jalosinski also had double-digit kills, finishing with 12 kills and three aces. Jude Rotondo added nine kills and three blocks, and Aaron Ladd had eight kills, four blocks and three aces. Chris Cullen added four kills and four blocks. Ethan Vo had six digs.
Pennridge (17-1, 14-0 SOL) will face top-seeded Pennsbury in Thursday’s District 1 3A title game at Upper Dublin High School at 7 p.m.
#1 PENNSBURY 3, #4 BENSALEM 0
The Falcons remained perfect on the season, picking up their 19th win without a loss with a sweep of the visiting Owls to earn a spot in Thursday’s District 1 3A title game.
For Bensalem, Jahaan Patel (9 kills, 1 ace) and Dev Patel (8 kills, 1 block) led the attack. Luv Patel (9 digs, 3 assists, 1 ace) played well defensively.
Pennsbury will face #2 Pennridge in Thursday’s District 1 3A title game at Upper Dublin High School at 7 p.m., and Bensalem (18-4, 11-3) will take on Unionville in Thursday’s third place game at Upper Dublin at 5 p.m. The winner of the third place match will earn the third and final berth in states.
