SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (3-19-25)

SOL American Conference
NORTH PENN 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-18)
The North Penn Knights kicked off the season with a 3-0 victory (over Upper Dublin in front of the home crowd.
Senior setter Daniel Oh orchestrated a balanced and efficient offense, dishing out 21 assists to keep Upper Dublin’s defense on its heels. Senior opposite Shane McElroy led the team with 10 kills, along with one block and an ace. The senior outsides Max Reilly (4 kills, 1 ace, 5 digs), Connor Notte (3 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs), and Luke Giza (3 kills, 7 digs) provided consistent support to the team. In the middle, senior Jack Woodland added 3 kills, while junior Luca Dalla Costa contributed 4 kills and a block.
The Knights’ defense was anchored by junior libero Prithvi Patel, who led the team with 13 digs. Freshman libero Liam Jeffers also made an impact in his varsity debut, recording 3 digs.
Other Contributions:
Junior opposite Kyle Park added 2 kills, while junior setter Aaditya Patel and sophomore setter Sam Kim combined for 8 assists, with Kim also adding an ace.

Up next: North Penn (1-0 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Friday.

SOL National Conference
NESHAMINY 3, ABINGTON 1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16)
The Redskins opened conference play with a win over the Ghosts. Beknazar Baiyshbekov’s 15 kills led a balanced Neshaminy attack.
By the numbers: Vraj Amin (1 kill, 1 ace, 7 digs), Beknazar Baiyshbekov (15 kills, 3 aces, 5 digs, 1 block, 1 assist), El-Mansur Sagalive (5 kills, 2 blocks, 5 aces, 1 dig, 37 assists), Nursultan Kadyrbekov (13 kills, 1 ace), Max Currie (9 kills, 3 blocks), Arlan Zharassov (7 kills, 3 blocks),
Neshaminy coach Pat Klingerman: “We played a great overall game tonight against a tough Abington squad. Happy to finish up our third game of our back-to-back-to-back road games with a victory. Finally have some time off to practice and recover from a busy week until we host CR South on Tuesday.

Non-league
SOUDERTON 3, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 19-25, 22-20)
Souderton started their season on the right foot to go 1-0 in a five-set thriller against LC Tuesday, losing the first set, winning the next two, losing the fourth set before fending off six match points to win 22-20 in the fifth set.  
By the numbers: Derek Stefanowicz led the Indians high powered offense with 21 kills.  Colton Musselman and Sawyer Jones added 12 and 14 kills respectively.  Gabe Williams ran the offense to perfection dishing out 55 assists, had 16 digs while adding 3 very timely kills of his own.  Connor Basile led the defensive front with 35 digs and 3 aces.  
Up next: Souderton (1-0) hosts CB East in their home opener Friday at 6pm.

BENSALEM 3, PALUMBO 2
The Owls started off hot, capturing the first set. Palumbo then battled the Owls to a fifth set where the Owls finished off the Griffins to win the match in 5.
“It was a big win for our guys who are a young group,” Bensalem coach Ricky Patel said. “I was super happy for our middle Nate Sveen, who had a career high 10 kills.”
The Owls were led by Roman Walsh (22 kills 12 digs), Shivam Patel (10 kills 5 digs)  Nate Sveen (10 kills 4 blocks) Ethan(14 digs) Humza Baig(12 digs). Nand Patel ran the offense well dissing out (40 assists). 

Up next: Bensalem (1-2) will open SOL play Friday when the Owls travel to Council Rock South.
