COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 2 (22-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 16-14)

The Indians handed the Redskins their first loss of the season in a grueling five-set match. The two teams along with Bensalem have just one loss in conference play.

“It was a hard fought game from both sides,” Rock North coach James Koodathil said. “Neshaminy is a well-coached, talented team who came ready to compete.

“I cannot give enough credit to my boys for fighting throughout this game. With key players being bolstered to the starting lineup and also playing different positions, the boys were poised. Their hard work and dedication is the sole reason for this win.”

Justin Burns turned in a huge performance to lead the Indians, finishing with 21 kills, one block and 17 digs. Brady Klein added six aces, 10 kills, one block and 19 digs. Dylan VanSchaick (20 assists, 18 digs) and Geoff Sandhanamudi (14 assists, one kill, four digs) shared setting duties. Martin Nguyen contributed 13 digs and two assists. Anthony Depaolo had one kill, six blocks and two digs, Nick Alleborn added one kill, three blocks and five digs, and Riley Campbell had three kills and two blocks.

For the Redskins, Paul Allen (17 kills, three aces, three blocks, seven digs) and Kieran Edwards (14 kills, two blocks, one dig) led the way at the net. Ben Clendening added eight kills and three blocks. Setter Nick Storz had 42 assists, three kills, two aces, 18 digs and one block. Coming up big defensively were Jesse Kovaschetz (five kills, 12 digs, one assist) and Stephen Fario (two aces, 11 digs, one assist). Also contributing were Josh Adler (one ace, four digs), Josh Hamilton (three kills, one dig, one block) and Colin Smith (five kills, four digs).

“Council Rock North is very well coached and took advantage of the countless errors we made,” Neshaminy coach Patrick Klingerman said. “(It’s) tough to win a game when you commit so many unforced errors. We will take this as a learning experience and grow from this.”

Council Rock North (6-1, 5-1 SOL) will host Pennsbury on Tuesday, and Neshaminy (5-1, 4-1) will host Council Rock South Tuesday.

 

ABINGTON 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0

The visiting Ghosts earned a sweep of the Golden Hawks.

Abington’s offense was led by Sam Miller with eight kills, Myles Winegrad with six kills, Bryce Lexow with four kills and Zach Miller with three kills off of 15 assists by Leo Presta. Defensively, Abington had 13 blocks, led by Bryce Lexow with six. Sean Dougherty had nine digs while Leo Presta had five digs.

Abington (2-4, 1-4 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Friday, and Council Rock South (0-8, 0-6) will host Central Bucks East on Monday.

NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18)

The suddenly streaking Knights won their fourth straight match on the heels of dropping their first five matches of the season.

Aaron Foulke (14 kills, five blocks) and Aiden Greene (13 kills, four blocks) both had big games at the net for the Knights. Billy Dooney and Jacob An also were key, contributing seven kills each. Ryan Heng’s 18 digs led the defense, and setter Brian Landes had 28 assists, eight kills and nine aces.

For the Panthers, Jared Leatherman had 12 kills, one ace and five digs, and Micah Reinford contributed seven kills, four aces and four digs. Jeff Sinsel had three kills, two blocks and four digs, and Zander Marks added four kills, five blocks and six digs. Setter Cody Steiert had 25 assists, two kills, three blocks and two digs. Also contributing were Brett Musselman (one kill), Andrew Sturgess (one block) and Kurt Glaeser (one ace, seven digs).

North Penn (4-5, 3-4 SOL) will host Lansdale Catholic in a non-league match Saturday, and Quakertown (4-4, 3-4) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday.

 

UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-22)

The Flying Cardinals received contributions from the whole team in their sweep of the visiting Titans.

Spencer Beidner (20 assists, one ace, three kills, one block, four digs) and David Levin (20 assists, one ace, one kill, five digs) split setting duties. Trevor Molloy led a balanced attack with 10 kills to go along with six aces and five digs. Collin Ross added five kills and one block, Noah Fechter had four kills and four digs, and Terrell Turner also had four kills. Sean Seabrook led the defense with 15 digs to go along with three aces and two kills.

For the Titans, senior Kevin Forostiak had a good night (three kills, two blocks, one assist, one dig). Vladyslav Bordia led the defense with 16 digs. Middle blocker Christopher Kline had five blocks and added two kills, an ace and four digs.

Upper Dublin (8-0, 7-0 SOL) will host Avon Grove in a non-league match Friday, and Central Bucks South (0-9, 0-7) will host Bensalem on Friday in a non-league match.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21)

Ryan Benscoter led the Rams to a sweep of the visiting Patriots, turning in another standout effort with 20 kills, four aces and eight digs. Thomas McKinney (five kills, eight digs), Bryce Muller (five kills) and Tyler Johnson (four kills) also made important contributions. Dan Detweiler’s 10 digs led the defense, and setter Riley Kodidek had 30 assists.

For the Patriots, Liam Ostrander directed the offense, contributing 12 assists, four digs, two kills and an ace. Matt LaBouliere had seven kills, seven digs and an ace, and Reid Miller ended with four kills, five digs, and one block. Josh Lyzinski added three kills and Trevor Seestedt contributed one kill, four blocks and two aces. East had notable defensive efforts from Aiden Leichter with 11 digs. Stephen DiRugeris with seven digs, and AJ Helveston with three digs.

Pennridge (5-2 SOL) will host Quakertown on Tuesday, and Central Bucks East (5-5, 3-4) will be at Council Rock South on Monday.

 

SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-15)

The Indians rolled to a sweep of the visiting Bucks. Nate Brown had 23 assists and ran an evenly distributed offense. Kaivalya Bhatt had 11 digs.

 

Wednesday, April 14

Non-league

QUAKERTOWN 3, SOUTHERN LEHIGH (25-1, 25-22, 25-17)

The Panthers used a balanced attack to earn a sweep of Southern Lehigh in a non-league match.

Jared Leatherman (nine kills, five digs), Jeff Sinsel (eight kills, eight digs, one ace), Micah Leatherman (seven kills, two aces, eight digs) and Zander Marks (five kills, one bock, one ace, nine digs) all made important contributions at the net. Setter Cody Steiert had 28 assists, five aces and three digs. Also chipping in were Andrew Sturgess (one kill, one block), Kurt Glaeser (two aces) and Brett Musselman (one kill).
