Non-league
QUAKERTOWN 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2 (23-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 15-11)
Things did not look promising for the Panthers when they dropped their first two sets of Friday’s non-league match but they staged a gutsy rally to win the next three, earning their first win of the season.
The team’s two Owens proved to be double trouble for the Golden Hawks as Owen Reinford led the Panthers with 11 kills to go along with a team-high 15 digs and one block. Owen Williams added 10 kills, two aces and nine digs. Alex Alfaro-Diaz also was a force at the net with seven kills to go along with two aces, one block and three digs. Owen Latt (6 kills, 1 block, 4 digs) and Rhauan Ferreira (6 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs) also were key contributors.
Setter Tyler Moyer handed out 35 assists and also had two kills, two blocks and four digs. Anthony Clark added nine digs, Rhenan Ferreira had four digs, Joey Gianni had two digs, and Aiden Ziegler had one kill.
Quakertown (1-11, 0-9 SOL) will host North Penn on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (0-10, 0-9) will host Bensalem on Tuesday.
