Winners in SOL boys’ volleyball action were Upper Dublin, CB East, Pennridge, Bensalem & CR North.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15)
The Cardinals earned a sweep of the Ghosts.
“It was a good battle throughout the matches, but timely service runs in the second half of the sets gave us a solid lead to finish out the matches,” UD coach Paul Choi said.
Matthew Ross had a big game for the Cardinals, finishing with 19 kills, four aces, three blocks and four digs. Mario Petushi had eight kills, 11 digs and three aces. Setter Longan Loi had 30 assists to go along with one kill and one dig. Robert Sarnoski had a pair of aces, and Max Adams had six digs. Joey Levin had three aces and six digs. Also contributing were Alec Madden (two kills, one block, two digs), Blake Bayles (one ace, two kills, two blocks) and Grant Molloy (one kill, one block, two digs).
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-16)
The Patriots used a solid team effort to earn a sweep of the Redskins.
“CB East has a lot of talent,” Neshaminy coach Pat Klingerman said. “They are a very well coached team. We struggled in a couple rotations and have some things to work on.”
East was led defensively by Jake LaBouliere (six digs, one ace, one assist). Andrew Bennett (four digs, two blocks) and Carter Haban (four digs, three aces) also contributed. Ryan Figus had two digs.
At the net, Haban had eight kills and two assists while Bennett added six kills. Thomas Gallagher-Teske chipped in three kills and three blocks, and Christian Wolf, Steve Storm and Dylan Colbert each collected two kills. Storm directed the offense with 19 assists.
PENNRIDGE 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-17)
The Rams upped their early season record to 3-0 with their sweep of the Knights.
Zach Detweiler (six kills, five blocks, two aces), Kevin Jones (eight kills, two blocks) and Cross Edwards (12 kills, 13 digs) all had big games at the net for the Rams. Setter Corey Quaste had 26 assists and nine digs. Danny Rutter added seven digs. Also making contributions were Chris McKinney (two kills, two blocks), Mike Molettiere (two kills) and Ryan Benscoter (two blocks).
Pennridge will play Central Bucks East on Friday night.
BENSALEM 3, PALUMBO 0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-20)
Greg Philip (11 kills, three aces) led the way for the Owls. Setter Basheer Ghafary (20 assists, three kills, two aces) ran the offense effectively, distributing to Ethan Fan (five kills, two blocks), Mark Hall (three kills), Jay Tilvawala (three kills) and Jake Mottershead (two kills, two aces).
The Owls improved to 3-1 and will face Neshaminy on Wednesday.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, GEORGE WASHINGTON 0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-19)
The Indians rolled to a sweep of George Washington, upping their early season record to 3-0.
Justin Burns led the Indians with nine aces, four kills, two assists and two digs, Sean D’Arcy added six kills, three aces and three digs, and Justin Walton had four kills, two digs and one ace. Setter Nick Baniewicz had 15 assists, and Chase McCaulley had nine assists and three aces.
Also contributing for the Indians were Kevin D’Arcy (three kills, one dig), Vytis Duncia (two kills, two aces, one dig), Harry Wyatt (two kills), Eddie Mancinelli (two digs), Will Hewitt (one kill, one block) and Nick Desautelle (one kill).
The Indians will travel to La Salle on Thursday for a 6:15 p.m. match.
