UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (25-22, 25-27, 27-25, 23-25, 17-15)
In a marathon match that saw both teams battle to the finish, it was the Cardinals eking the win. None of the five sets were decided by more than three points.
“This was an intense match and could have gone either way in any of the sets,” South coach Matt Ehlers said.
“It was a hard fought match with everyone making big contributions,” UD coach Paul Choi said.
Liam Nielsenshultz led a balanced attack at the net with nine kills and three blocks. Isaac Gold had six kills, two blocks and two digs, and Blake Bayles had four kills, one block, one ace and two digs. Ryan Howie also had four kills to go along with one block and five digs while Grant Molloy had four kills and four blocks.
UD setter Brandon Ross had 31 assists, 13 digs, two aces and two kills. Leading the Cards defensively were Jose Palomeque (30 digs, one ace, one assist) and Joe Choi (21 digs, three aces). Also contributing were Troy Gomer (three aces, four digs), Brandon Dolan (seven digs) and Michael Cummins (three kills, five digs).
For the Titans, setter Mark Macios had three aces, three kills, seven blocks, 31 assists and 10 digs. Middle Justin Koren had three aces, 11 kills, 10 blocks, 14 digs, one assist), and middle Joe Karn added five kills, eight blocks, two digs, one assist. Outside hitter Mason Zeo had seven kills, one ace, four blocks and 10 digs, and outside hitter Tim White contributed six kills, three aces, two blocks and eight digs.
PENNSBURY 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-12)
The Falcons – on the heels of a strong showing at the Bobcat Invitational – earned a sweep of the Ghosts.
Louie Bavas (12 kills, .357, two aces, two digs, one block) and Kyle Faulcon (seven kills, .455, one ace, five digs, one block) led the way at the net. Dylan Shugar added three kills (.500) and one block, Danny Quay had one kill and four blocks, Adam Hludzinski had three kills and one block, Marshall Nixon had four kills and one block and Brett Garretson had five kills and eight digs. Setter Andy Delworth had 28 assists, one ace and seven digs, and Charlie Bluestein had six assists, two aces and eight digs.
For the Ghosts, Cole Santora led the way with seven kills and five digs. TJ Dougherty anchored the defense with 13 digs. Setter Daniel Gonzalez had 15 assists, and Ronnie Fishbein had five kills and four blocks.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, PENNRIDGE 0
The Patriots came out with something to prove to the visiting Rams. From the first point straight to the last, the Patriots were clicking on all cylinders. Mason Miller had a big night with 32 assists, 23 of them coming between his two outside hitters (Carter Haban and Dylan Colbert). Other contributions at the net came from Andrew Bennett (five kills), Christian Wolf and Jared McKeon. The Patriots’ defense was anchored by Liam Creedon (nine digs). Also contributing to the team’s other 15 digs were Bennett (five digs), Carter (three digs), Colbert (six digs) and Mason Miller (two digs).
“We have been preaching to the kids, perfect the little things and the rest will follow, tonight proved that,” coach Scott Geller said.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-18)
The Indians earned a sweep in the battle of neighboring rivals.
Setter Nick Baniewicz had 23 assists, five aces, three kills and one dig. Harry Wyatt led the way at the net with 11 kills to go with four digs. Jack Gunshenan added nine kills, three digs and one block. Justin Walton had four kills and one dig, and Sean Helmlinger added three kills and one ace. Also contributing were Alex Borman (three digs, two aces), Keven D’Arcy (three kills, one block) and Eddie Mancinelli (one dig).
For the Golden Hawks, Shane Slivinski led the way with nine kills and four digs while TJ Rodman had eight digs and one ace.
Council Rock North (3-1, 1-1 SOL) will travel to William Tennent on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest.
NESHAMINY 3, BENSALEM 1 (25-21, 25-16, 10-25, 25-15)
The visiting Redskins won the first two sets, but the Owls battled back to win the third before the ‘Skins closed it out.
“It was an all-around team win,” coach Pat Klingerman said. “Everyone got into the game and contributed.”
Shaun Kelly (11 kills, five digs, three blocks) and Tommy Edwards (12 kills, two digs, four blocks) led the Redskins. Ben McGonagle added six kills and five blocks while Tim Stressman chipped in with two kills and two blocks. Setter Miguel Montalvo had 35 assists, one kill, one dig and two blocks.
Defensively, Steve Wonderlich’s 15 digs led the way. Also contributing were Markus Mueller (one kill), Steve Reich (four digs), Eric Rotteveel (one kill), Eric Clayton (two kills, one dig, one block), Alberto Shen (two kills, one block), Alex Swiderski (six assists, one dig), Mike Muzyk (two kills, one block), Tony Camillo (one kill), Tim Hutt (two digs) and Jesse Marshall (one block).
For the Owls, Joey Conley (eight kills, two aces) and Ronah Shah (13 assists) led the way. Greg Philip (four kills, one block), Philip Bui (three kills, two assists, one block) and Shekib Ghfary (two kills, one block) all made plays at the net.
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 1

Hayden Rhodes led the Knights at the net with nine kills and one block to go along with seven digs. Alex Stoler had seven kills and one block, and Kishan Davara added five kills, six blocks and one dig. Setter Ryan Ko had 21 assists, one ace, six digs and five blocks, and Isaac Lambert had two aces.
For the Indians, Aaron Moyer and Ben Campman led the way with nine kills each. Mike Pagan’s 13 kills and four blocks led the defense. Setter Luke Pagan had 32 assists.
WHITEHALL 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 (25-13, 25-16, 26-28, 23-25, 15-6)
The Panthers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knot the match at 2-2, but Whitehall prevailed in the fifth and final set.
Josh Moyer (eight kills, 11 digs), Justin Flor (eight kills, two blocks, four digs) and Graham Wilson (six kills, three blocks) led the Panthers at the net. Setter Drew Stout had 18 assists. Zac Mahler led the defense with 11 digs.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-13)
