Non-league
NORTH PENN 3, LA SALLE 2
The Knights earned the non-league win in a grueling five-set match with the Explorers.
Aiden Green had a season high 17 kills and five blocks in a superb outing to lead the Knights. Aaron Foulke (16 kills, eight blocks) and Billy Dooney (nine kills, five blocks) also were forces at the net.
Setter Brian Landes was credited with 54 assists, six kills and nine digs in a stellar outing.
ABINGTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-10, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15)
The visiting Ghosts won their first match of the young season on Friday.
Myles Winegrad led the Ghosts with 11 kills, seven assists, four aces and six digs. Sam Miller, Sebastian Skenderi and Bryce Lexow contributed eight, seven and six kills respectively off of 18 assists from Leo Presta. Sean Dougherty’s 13 digs led the defense while Miller and Presta added seven digs each.
For the Titans, Christopher Kline led the offense with seven kills and three blocks. Garrett MacClay led the defense with 12 digs. According to South coach Matt Ehlers, senior middle Ryan Killenbeck also had a good game with five kills, one block and one dig while junior Sam Stolber played well with three kills, five digs and an ace.
Abington will face William Tennent on Tuesday.
BENSALEM 3, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 0
The visiting Owls rolled to a straight set win in Friday’s non-league contest.
Dhruv Patel (20 assists) and Arjun Patel (five assists, one ace) set up Dylan Young (eight kills, two aces), Tyler Hoang (seven kills, four aces), Adam Nevrotski (four kills) and Om Patel (four kills). Zac Czarnecki (three aces, two digs) also played well for the Owls, who upped their record to 4-1.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, COUNCIL ROCK 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-19)
The Flying Cardinals continued their strong play, earning a sweep of the Golden Hawks in a non-league match on the road.
Setter David Levin had 26 assists, three aces and four digs. Colin Dowdell (six blocks two kills), Benjamin Dorsey (five kills, four digs), Terrell Turner (five kills) and Sean Seabrook (four kills, seven digs, one ace) led a balanced UD effort.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0
Aiden Leichter anchored a solid defense for the Patriots in Friday’s sweep of the Vikings, finishing with 12 digs and one assist. The offense was spread evenly between CJ Dalby (six kills, two aces, two digs), Trevor Seestedt (six kills, two blocks), Josh Lyzinski (six kills, three blocks), and Matt LaBouliere (eight kills, three aces, seven digs). Directing the attack was Liam Ostrander who dished 23 assists and picked up eight digs. Turning in solid all around performances were AJ Helveston (two kills and two digs) and Pat Haurin with three digs and a kill.
