Upper Dublin 3, Central Bucks East 1
The Flying Cardinals dropped the first game of Tuesday’s match but rallied to win the next three on their way to the big win.
“In the first game, we came out a little flat and trailed for most of the game,” coach Matt Ehlers said. “We felt that we were the ones making the mistakes that caused us to lose the game.
“In the second game, we came out with a new intensity and were able to serve for points which kept us in the lead most of the game. Our service game led to more free balls, which we transitioned into points.”
Game three was more of the same, but the fourth game was a battle to the finish.
“CB East regained some of the momentum,” Ehlers said. “The match was close the entire way with us holding on to a two-point advantage to win the match.
“This match was probably the best we’ve played all year, and we played well in all aspects of the game and were able to keep our focus and finish.”
Jordan Walden led the serving game with 16 points and nine aces. Dave An also contributed 10 points and two aces. An set the entire match and recorded 45 assists while spreading the ball around. Dror Bareket led the attack with 16 kills, and Jordan Walden had 15 kills.
“All of our players hit well and forced free balls back to us or errors which led the points,” Ehlers said.
Curtis Carter and Jino Park both had five blocks. Walden and Park led the team defensively with 11 digs each. Brian Shim contributed nine digs.
“Several other players made key digs to keep rallies alive,” said Ehlers.
For the Patriots, Kyle Dolf had 31 assists, seven kills, two blocks and nine digs. Jeff Wolf added nine kills, five blocks and four digs. Nick Bennett added nine digs, three blocks and 12 kills.
Pennridge 3, Cheltenham 1
The Rams closed out a perfect season with their win over the Panthers. Setter Matt Trumbower had 28 assists. Junior Kalin Nelson led the Rams with nine kills. Derek Rush had seven kills and seven digs, and Damon Waslin also had seven kills. Mike Bollinger contributed five kills and four blocks, and Christian Lizana had eight digs to lead the defense.
The Rams finished the season with a perfect 16-0 mark.
Souderton 3, Central Bucks West 0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-22)
The Indians avenged an early season loss to the Bucks by sweeping West this time around.
Chris Kluka led the Indians with 11 kills and five blocks. Cody Leatherman added eight kills and five blocks, and Trevor Bishop had eight kills and seven digs. Andrew Diesal contributed six kills, and Christian Benner had 12 digs to lead the defense.
The Indians closed out the regular season with a 13-3 mark in league play (15-3 overall).
