PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 21-19)
The Rams eked out a win in a five-set marathon, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to win the next three sets
“Both teams had opportunities to win as the match went back and forth before Pennridge was able to end the match in overtime,” coach Matt Ehlers said. “This was a great match to be a part of and I was really proud of the way the boys played today.”
Leading the Rams at the net were Zach Detweiler (16 kills, two blocks), Cross Edwards (14 kills, six digs) and Kevin Jones (14 kills). Ryan Benscoter added five kills and five blocks and David Cassel had four kills. Setter Corey Quaste had 49 assists. Leading the defense were Danny Rutter (12 digs), Ethan Lionetti (eight digs) and Jeremy Pruss (six digs).
Team leaders for the Titans included Joe Karn (15 kills, one block, three digs), Andrew Rubas (two aces, five kills, 32 assists, 10 digs), Tim White (five aces, seven kills, four blocks, four digs) and libero Mason Zeo (one ace, two assists, 13 digs).
SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (25-16, 23-25, 28-26, 25-22)
The Indians celebrated Senior Night with the hard fought win. All six seniors contributed.
Ben Campman led the Indians with 21 kills, and Brett Cornman had 11. Matt O’Neil had six kills and four blocks, and Brian Osafar Mensah had six kills. Libero Jared Martin had 11 digs, and Harshal Desai had 19 digs and three aces.
“We started out with strong serving, and an all-around good team effort helped keep Quakertown out of system,” coach Dave Stastny said.
For the Panthers, Logan Spieker had a big night at the net, finishing with 23 kills. Justin Flor (seven kills), Cameron Cronk (five kills), Nathan Barkholz (four kills) and Josh Moyer (three kills) also contributed to the Panthers’ attack. Setter Zach Frei had 37 assists. Seth Wesley had three digs.
PENNSBURY 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-20)
The Falcons earned a sweep of their neighboring rival.
Kyle Faulcon had a team-high 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .304. He also had three digs. Brett Garretson had five kills with a .625 hitting percentage to go along with one ace and four digs. Luke Bucksar also had five kills as well as one assist and two blocks. Danny Quay had three kills (.429), two digs and two blocks, and Justin Sadley had six kills, one assist, one ace and two digs. Charlie Bluestein led the defense with 12 digs to go along with three assists. Dylan Shugar added one kill and one dig, and Matiss Mednis had two kills (.667) and four digs. Matt Caissie added two aces and one dig.
For the Redskins, Tony Camillo (nine kills, four blocks) and Ben McGonagle (four kills, six blocks, one ace) led the way at the net. Setter JD Palmieri had 28 assists and four digs. Alex Swiderski led the defense with 10 digs while Matt Schwab (seven digs) and Steve Wenderlich (seven digs, one ace, two blocks) also made important contributions. Bert Shen added two kills and four digs, and Jesse Marshall had one ace.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-12, 25-13, 27-25)
The Indians earned a sweep of the Ghosts and improved to 13-0 on the season.
Setter Nick Baniewicz had 24 assists, three digs, two kills and one ace. Jack Gunshenan (seven kills, 1.5 blocks, one dig, one ace), Justin Walton (seven kills, two digs, one block), Sean D’Arcy (six kills, one dig), Harry Wyatt (five kills, three aces, two digs), Keven D’Arcy (three kills, two blocks) and Will Hewitt (1.5 blocks, one kill) all contributed to a balanced attack.
Chase McCaulley had five assists, and Eddie Mancinelli added three digs. Nick Ripans had a pair of digs. Vytis Duncia (one kill, one ace), Herby Bouard (one kill, one assist) and Nick Desautelle (one dig) also contributed.
For the Ghosts, Sean Dougherty had 13 digs and one ace, Charlie Viola had five digs and one ace, and Jacob Brandt had two digs. TJ Dougherty had 16 assists and two digs. Danny Gonzalez had 13 kills and two blocks. Shane Collins had one kill and two assists. Josh Harkins added two kills and one assist. Jason Lockhart had two kills and one block and Juan Perez had two kills and three blocks.
BENSALEM 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
Ethan Fan led the Owls with a solid all-around match, recording 10 kills, three aces, one assist and one block. Setter Basheer Ghafary had 25 assists and, according to coach Tim Linehan, ran the offense well, distributing to Greg Philip (five kills, three aces), Shiv Patel (seven kills), Mark Hall (four kills) and Jay Tilvawala (five kills, three assists). Libero Joel Matthews, according to Linehan, played a strong game defensively.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (25-19, 23-25, 27-25, 25-15)
After splitting the first two sets, the Bucks won a tightly contested third set on their way to the win.
Cole Nagle (16 kills, seven digs) and Eli Gibson (15 kills, 11 digs) both had big nights at the net to lead the Bucks. Setter Adam Klapper had 24 assists, five aces and 15 digs. Austin Cervasio had six kills and five blocks, and Jason Miller had eight digs.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, UNIONVILLE 1 (25-21, 18-25, 26-24, 25-17)
The Golden Hawks defeated the visiting Indians in a non-league match.
Andrew Richards (17 kills, one ace, two blocks, 10 digs) and Shane Slivinski (15 kills, one ace, eight digs) led the Hawks at the net. Dane Paulson added six kills, one ace, two blocks and nine digs,, and Jay Ferrara had two kills, two blocks and four digs. TJ Rodman led the Hawks defensively with 15 digs to go along with one ace. Jake Leonard had two blocks and two digs, and Dylan Baptiste had four kills and three blocks.
