SOL National Conference

 

BENSALEM 3, PENNSBURY 1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-16)

Dropping the first set of Thursday’s match against Pennsbury was apparently a wake-up call for the Owls, who rolled to three straight wins.

The Owls were led by Om Patel and Tyler Hoang with 11 kills each.  Sophomore Jack Wineburg added five kills while Shane Czop (three kills, one block) and Luis Rodriguez (four kills two blocks) played well in the middle.  Dhruv Patel (30 assists), Arjun Patel (six digs three aces), Zac Czarnecki (two aces) and Harsh Shah (10 digs) all made key plays for Bensalem.

The Owls improved to 11-4 on the season (6-4 SOL). Pennsbury is 3-10 (3-9 SOL).

 

ABINGTON 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0

The visiting Ghosts earned a sweep of the Panthers.

Sam Miller had 10 kills, one ace and six digs. Leo Presta had four kills, one ace, six digs and one block. Myles Winegrad had four kills, 11 digs and one block. Sebastian Skenderi had four kills and six blocks. Bryce Lexow had four kills and two blocks. Sean Dougherty had 29 digs, Gannon McGinley had seven digs and Dylan Planterich had two digs and one ace.

Abington is 6-9 overall (3-8 SOL) while William Tennent is 6-5 (5-4 SOL).

 

SOL American Conference

 

UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18)

The Flying Cardinals moved one step closer to clinching sole possession of the conference crown with their sweep of the Patriots.

Trevor Molloy led the Cardinals with 10 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Setter Spencer Beidner had 28 assists, 12 digs, three kills and two blocks. Sean Bainbridge (11 digs, one assist), David Levin (10 digs, four aces, four kills) and Sean Seabrook (10 digs, three kills) were key in the Cards’ defense. Colin Dowdell (four kills, four blocks) and Collin Ross (four kills, one blocks) also contributed.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, NORTH PENN 0

Ryan Benscoter’s 22-kill effort led the Rams in their sweep of the Knights. He also had three aces. Tyler Johnson added six kills and two blocks while Bryce Muller (three kills, three aces) and Thomas McKinney (three kills, four digs) also made their presence felt. Skyler Ammon had three aces and Alex Derk had two. Setter Riley Kodidek had 26 assists and five digs, and Dan Detweiler added seven digs.

For the Knights, Aaron Foulke had four kills and four blocks, and Billy Dooney added three kills. Brian Landes had three kills, two aces, two blocks and four digs.

Pennridge is 12-2 on the season (11-2 SOL) while North Penn is 6-11 (4-8).

 

Wednesday, May 5

SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-11, 25-14)

The Titans battled but came up short in Wednesday’s Senior Night match.

“All the seniors played well tonight and worked hard all match,” South coach Matt Ehlers said.

Making contributions were Eric Reizas (five assists, five digs), Garrett MacClay (two kills, 15 assists, seven digs), Robert Coleman (one ace, eight kills, 11 digs), Kevin Forostiak (two kills, three blocks, four digs) and Ryan Killenbeck (four kills, two blocks, three digs).

“CB South played a hard fought match on their Senior Night,” Souderton coach Luke Pinto said. “Our guys had to battle through to come out on top. I was very proud of our resilience.

“I wish the seniors of CB south the best of luck as they continue their journey.”

 

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 (10-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10)

It took five sets, but the Bucks eked out a win over the Panthers.

For the Panthers, Micah Reinford had a big night, finishing with 11 kills, 12 digs, two aces and one block. Jared Leatherman added seven kills and eight digs. Setter Cody Steiert had 24 assists to go along with one kill, four blocks and four aces. Kurt Glaeser had 10 digs. Zander Marks added five kills, one ace, six blocks and 15 digs.

Also contributing for the Panthers were Jeff Sinsel (three kills, five blocks, one ace, three digs), Andrew Sturgess (three blocks, two digs), Zane Smith (two digs) and Isaac Moises (two digs).

Central Bucks West improved to 6-10 (5-7 overall) while the Panthers are 7-8 (5-8 SOL).

 

Non-league

NESHAMINY 3, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY (25-10, 19-25, 25-16, 25-22)

The Redskins earned an impressive non-league win over the Pioneers.

Colin Smith (11 kills, four digs, one block), Paul Allen (10 kills, seven digs, one block)  and Kieran Edwards (seven kills, five blocks) led the Redskins at the net. Setter Nick Storz had 31 assists, two kills, one ace, 11 digs and one block. Jesse Kovaschetz contributed 11 digs, one assist and three aces. Also making contributions were Ben Clendening (four kills, two blocks), Josh Clendening (three kills, two digs, one block), Stephen Fario (one ace, five digs) and Josh Adler (one ace, one dig). Neshaminy upped its record to 13-1 overall (10-1 SOL).
