BENSALEM 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 27-25)
The Owls won a dramatic fourth set to earn the hard-fought win. In the fourth set, the Golden Hawks found themselves staring at deficits of 14-7 and 20-13, but behind the serving of Jay Ferrara and the offense of Jack Gieger rallied to knot the score 25-25. A Golden Hawk serving error and Bensalem kill closed it out with the Owls on top.
Joey Conley led the Owls’ offense with 15 kills, and Harish Patel had five kills and two blocks. Philip Bui added seven kills and delivered the block that sealed the win for the Owls. Setter Ronak Shah had 27 assists and seven kills.
Gieger led the Hawks at the net with 16 kills to go along with two aces. Andrew Richards added seven kills, one block, one ace, 17 digs and one assist. Shane Slivinski had three kills, one block and 14 digs, and Ferrara had three kills, three blocks, one ace and seven digs. Setter Dane Paulson had 29 assists, 13 digs, two kills, one ace and one block while TJ Rodman led the defense with 16 digs. He also had one assist. Jake Leonard had one kill, one block, three digs and one assist.
PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-15)
The Falcons swept the Indians in a battle of conference powers.
Sean Sweeney led the Falcons with 13 kills (.370), one assist, one ace, two digs and four blocks. Danny Quay added eight blocks and three kills (.750). Louie Bavas had seven kills, one ace, 10 digs and one block. Setter Andy Delworth had 29 assists, one kills, two aces and nine digs. Justin Sudley had six kills (.667) and three blocks, and Adam Hludzinski had two kills (.400). Charlie Bluestein added nine digs, one ace and one assist, and Brett Garretson had one kill and four digs.
For the Indians, Jack Gunshanen led the way at the net with nine kills, five digs and .5 blocks. Setter Nick Baniewicz had 21 assists, three digs and .5 blocks. Harry Wyatt added five kills, three digs, 1.5 blocks and one ace. Alex Borman led the defense with eight digs. Also contributing were Justin Walton (three kills, four digs), Sean Helmlinger (three kills, 1.5 blocks, one dig), Keven D’Arcy (two kills) and Grant Shieh (two digs).
NESHAMINY 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-14, 25-14, 30-28)
Shaun Kelly (14 kills, four digs, one block) and Tommy Edwards (12 kills, five digs, one block, one ace) led the Redskins. Also contributing at the net were Anthony Verrecchio (three kills), Ben McGonagle (three kills) and Tom Stressman (two kills, one block). Steve Wenderlich led the defense with 13 digs, four kills and two aces, and setter Miguel Montalvo had 35 assists, two kills, one block and one ace. Contributing to the Redskins’ defense were Steve Reich (three digs, one ace), Alex Swiderski (one dig), Eric Rotteveel (one dig) and Eric Clayton.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, SOUDERTON 2 (16-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9)
The Patriots rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn the win.
Seniors Mason Miller, Karl Bandlow, Liam Creedon, Colton Wurz, Joey Bowen, Trent Henkels, and Jared McKeon each had an excellent match against an outstanding Souderton team.
Among East's stats leaders were Carter Haban with 22 kills, Liam Creedon with five digs, Dylan Colbert with 14 kills, and Karl Bandlow with four blocks. Once again, setter Mason Miller directed a balanced East attack, dishing out 43 assists.
For the Indians, Mike Pagan led the way with 14 kills. Aaron Moyer led the defense with 12 digs, and setter Luke Pagan had 31 assists. Brett Cornman had four blocks.
PENNRIDGE 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-17)
Ben Chinnici put up big numbers for the Rams, contributing 18 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and two aces. Josiah Friesen added six kills, 16 digs, four blocks and two aces, and Cross Edwards had 12 kills and 12 digs. Kevin Jones contributed six kills, three blocks and two aces, and Zach Detweiler added six kills and six blocks. Mike Molettiere had two kills. Setter Corey Quaste had 44 assists and eight digs, and Danny Rutter had 19 digs to lead the defense.
QUAKERTOWN 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-12)
Logan Spieker’s 11 kills led the Panthers in their sweep of the Cheltenham. Josh Moyer (six kills) and Justin Flor (five kills, four aces, two blocks) also contributed. Zach Frei had 23 assists and three aces while Zac Mahler contributed six digs and three aces.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, HAVERFORD 0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-22)
Leading the Bucks in their sweep of the Fords were Ryan Alu (14 kills, six digs), Eli Gibson (six kills, six digs) and Daniel Klapper (10 digs).
