CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18)
The Patriots clinched sole possession of the SOL Continental Conference with their sweep of the Panthers.
Leading the Panthers were Andrew Bennett (four kills, nine digs, one ace), Carter Haban (eight kills, five digs, one ace, two assists) and Erik Coombs (three kills, three blocks). Also turning in big nights were Dylan Colbert (eight kills, seven digs, one block, one ace), Steve Storm (25 assists, three kills, four digs, four blocks) and Jacob LaBouliere (10 digs). Christian Wolf was a strong in the middle with three kills, two blocks, one ace and two digs. The Patriots had to rally without senior Pete Chiaravallo, who missed his final regular season match due to illness.
For the Panthers, Logan Spieker had 13 kills and two blocks. Josh Moyer (two kills, five digs) and Justin Flor (seven kills, two aces) also contributed. Zach Frei had 17 assists.
The Patriots are third in the latest District One 3A power rankings.
PENNSBURY 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17)
The Falcons used an efficient attack to sweep the Panthers.
Justin Sadley had 14 kills and a .545 hitting percentage to go along with one assist, two aces and three digs, and Dan Quay had seven kills (.545). Setter Andy Delworth had 30 assists to go along with one kill, one ace and three digs. Brett Garretson had six kills (.364), one assist, one ace and three digs. Charlie Bluestein had three aces and seven digs. Also contributing were Kyle Faulcon (three kills, one dig), Luke Bucksar (one kill, two digs, two blocks), Jacob Loerch (one kill, one assist, three digs), Matt Caissie (three aces) and Ben McCartney (one dig).
The Falcons are second in the latest District One 3A power rankings.
NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-20)
The Knights rallied for three straight wins after dropping the first set.
Team leaders for the Titans included Joe Karn (nine kills, two blocks, five digs, one assist), Zon Zonshein (two kills, 13 digs, one assist), Andrew Rubas (one ace, two kills, two blocks, one dig, 17 aces) and Mason Zeio (one kill, nine digs).
North Penn (10-9) is ninth in the most recent District One 3A power rankings.
ABINGTON 3, BENSALEM 2 (25-16, 26-28, 25-13, 22-25, 15-11)
The Ghosts won a hard fought five-set match over the Owls.
Setter TJ Dougherty had 46 assists, six digs and an ace. Leading the defense was Sean Dougherty with 21 digs. The Ghosts were led at the net by outside hitter Danny Gonzalez with 22 kills, nine digs and three aces, Jason Lockhart with 10 kills, five blocks, Juan Perez with six kills and four blocks and Josh Harkins with 10 kills, three digs, one block and one ace. Also contributing were Shane Collins with five digs and four kills, Charlie Viola with nine digs and one ace, and Jacob Barndt with seven digs.
For the Owls, Jay Tilvawala (13 kills, three assists, one block), Greg Philip (10 kills) and Shiv Patel (nine kills) had strong games. Basheer Ghafary had 33 assists and three kills.
Abington is 11th in the latest Distrit One 3A power rankings.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, SOUDERTON 2
The Flying Cardinals edged the Indians in a tightly contested match.
“It was a great team win with everyone contributing,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “We played great volleyball with a great opponent.
“We finally broke out of the slump we were going through and finished the season on a high note.”
Matthew Ross had a huge night for the Cardinals, finishing with 23 kills, one block, one assist and 27 digs. Setter Longan Loi had 43 assists, two aces, two blocks and seven digs. Mario Petushi added 11 kills, two blocks, one assist and 23 digs. Also contributing were Alec Madden (five kills, one block), Blake Bayles (six kills, five blocks, five digs), Grant Molloy (three kills, four blocks, one assist, one dig) and Max Adams (one ace, one assist, 19 digs).
Ben Campman had 22 kills to lead the Indians. Matt O’Neil (15 kills) and Brett Cornman (14 kills) also had big nights at the net. Luke Pagan had 48 assists. The Indians had 30 digs as a team.
“We knew Upper Dublin would be a tough match – they play hard,” Souderton coach Dave Stastny said. “The match was filled with a lot of hustle. We came up short.”
The Indians are seventh in the most recent District One 3A power rankings.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, NESHAMINY 1 (25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 27-25)
The Golden Hawks defeated the Redskins in a hard fought match.
“Both teams played extremely well tonight,” Neshaminy coach Pat Klingerman said. “It was a great match to watch.”
Steve Wenderlich led a balanced Redskin attack with 11 kills to go along with five aces and five digs. Jesse Marshall added nine kills and Ben McGonagle had eight kills. Tony Camillo contributed six kills and three blocks. Alex Swiderski had 13 digs and one ace, and Matt Schwab had 11 digs and three kills. Setter JD Palmieri had 26 assists. Ben Shen added two kills and two digs.
The Golden Hawks are fifth in the latest District One 3A power rankings, and Neshaminy is 10th.
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-15)
The Rams dropped the opening set but rallied to win the next three.
Making contributions at the net for the Rams were Cross Edwards (12 kills, nine digs), Zach Detweiler (nine kills, three blocks), Chris McKinney (five kills, two blocks), Ryan Benscoter (five kills, six blocks) and Kevin Jones (four kills, two aces). Setter Corey Quaste had 32 assists, seven digs and three blocks. Danny Rutter led the defense with 13 digs to go along with three aces. Jeremy Pruss had six digs and two aces.
Pennridge is fourth in the latest District One 3A power rankings, and Central Bucks West is eighth.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY 0
The Indians closed out a perfect regular season with a sweep of the Pioneers in a non-league match.
Nick Baniewiecz had 23 assists, two kills, two digs and two blocks. Harry Wyatt (11 kills, two aces, two digs, .5 blocks) and Jack Gunshenan (nine kills, one dig, one block, one ace) were his favorite targets. Eddie Mancinelli led the defense with seven digs and one ace. Also contributing were Justin Burns (three kills, three aces, two blocks, two digs), Keven D’Arcy (two kills, one block, one assist), Will Hewitt (two kills, two blocks), Justin Walton (three aces), Herby Boucard (one kill, 1.5 blocks), Chase McCaulley (one dig) and Nick Ripans (one dig).
The Indians are seeded first in the District One 3A power rankings.
